To answer you clearly and bluntly. YES. Knees broken and all. If you weren't raised to think crossing a picket line is about the most disgusting, immoral thing you can do then you weren't raised at all.

How Electric Cars Save The Planet
herbie replied to reason10's topic in Health, Science and Technology
The fact you even had to state that wins the argument for the other guys, You musta been one of them nerds in Grade 9 that read Popular Science instead of Archie comix like the cool guys. They're not hearing nuthin you say. So after looking at cars again, I see what I predicted years ago. They'd put the prices of regular ICE vehicles up so high the EVs will look like a bargain should any ever hit the car lots. SO much so that with today's interest rates nothing is selling. -

Everyone who isn't a total a$$hole. Breathed in too much lead from car exhaust growing up? So much you forgot why they added pollution controls on cars FIFTY years ago? -
Like an employers right to hire scabs benefits you HOW? Do you own a major company? Do you own shares that pay more dividends than you earn in income? Are you a corporate hit man that earns a living screwing people out of their jobs? No. 99% you're a typical stupid worker for someone else who's Daddy told them unions are just plain BAD, just like he told you about "the left". Without a clue what unions are for, why the exist, what they do or how they work.

Ontario needs to invest in EVs as a realistic Option.
herbie replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Like I pointed out dozens of times, some people simply repeat tired arguments against and have this opium pipe dream than Ontarians will still be building cars without investing in EVs. You can keep driving your car until it dies, you die, or you run out of money. Your kid won't be buying one like yours. More likely your grandkids will be eating Alberta oil processed into Beyond Meat burgers before putting it as gas in their car. -
Well good to see some actual discussion. Yes ouy're correct in that it will not prevent the govt from ordering back to work or even binding arbitration on essential services. They'll include loopholes for that and for management to perform the essential work. More loopholes so maintenance workers to keep working, but no "replacement workers". What it will do is make outfits like Rogers, Bell and Air Canada bargain seriously and end some of this two years without a contract BS. And this one, I do not understand at all. You support unions AND scabs at the same time? You think someone who will demean themselves to do your job for less and screw you out of work deserves respect? You do not support unions.

and as usual you have nothing to actually contribute besides the trigger words you've been brainwashed with. And I DO apologize for not having a 200 year old quote from you opposing central heating and continue my delusion that obstacles can and will be overcome. For now I'm satisfied with your "EVs not ready for Prime Time" quote as I go shop for one. -
In yet another social benefit pushed by the NDP support deal, the govt is about to pass anti-scab legislation on all federally regulated businesses. That would include Federal employers, transport and communication sectors and more. So far only BC and Quebec have provincial anti-scab laws. Dental care Pharmacare No damn scabs 3 things to improve your lives... in one term without ever "winning" an election. Let the whining begin!

herbie replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Some people are so damn stubborn (refuse to think) that 200 years ago they'd argue that a fireplace in every room was more fuel efficient than central heating. Arguing that 100,000 gasoline vehicles produce less CO2 than an LNG powered electrical plant that charges 100,000 EVs. Claiming every single obstacle in making EVs & batteries is a reason not to, all the while dismissing every obstacle there was exploring, extracting, refining and distributing oil as well as building far more complicated vehicles. SUpid. obstinate resistance to any change in anything at all, few with anything to personally gain and all overlooking any personal benefit. Worse because they oppose any benefit to ALL citizens even if it benefits them personally. -

Your location says Vancouver. Are you aware that NONE of the power to charge up your EV comes from fossil fuels? The Burrard Thermal plant in Ioco's been shut down for decades. Obviously. So other than to be a strictly contrarian ass, what are you posting in this thread for? -

They have difficulty understanding the opponents think no one is able to do two things at once. They['ll soon tell us it's either EVs or heatpumps... and belittle both -

100 kwh to charge a Tesla from flat about $10. Here, to drive 500km @ 10L/100km (300m @23.5mpg) $90-$110. And about 500g of CO2 emissions vs zero. But of course you have one of those lifted F350 quad cab 4x4 diesels w duallies that can go 300 miles for $5 like all the people that drive one tell me. And 0 emissions if you don't use the rolling coal mod. -

Well stated Mr. Obvious. -
Meh, she's right. Worrying over chicken change to run a station we can listen to across the whole country or blow $75 billion on planes that will just sit there except for the odd air show. If you think they'll get used, you either actually want to get in a war or are paranoid enough to think some country with an intercontinental air force is going to attack us. As for the incessant claim of bias, go ahead and listen to only media beholden to their corporate advertisers. Sucking up to MyPillow, Big Pharma and ambulance chasers obviously isn't bias in your book. Continue under the delusion that cutting CBC will save one actual red cent out of YOUR pocket.

Recommended a Mac years ago to a couple I knew were too effing stunned to learn Windows95/DOS. SO they went to the Apple store and bought one and were back in my shop with the computer and the game that wouldn't play. I immediately pointed out the Box the game came in had "For Windows 3.1 or 95" in big letters across the top. They told us Macs are better than PCs, so what does that matter? It should be able to play anything! They never did get any brighter, last time I went to their house they'd bought the first Microsoft Surface that was out with the lamed down version of Windows 8... Our phone company gave you a free laptop if you signed a term for ADSL. They were obsolete Dells their techs had managed to get Vista to run on with only 128MB. Made lots adding RAM & converting hundreds of them back to XP, even still came in for Win7 upgrades years later. I have one on a shelf today with Rasperry86 32bit maxed out w 2GB that sucks to this day,

Oooh long time ago. Just like the number of people shocked that contemporary laptops are missing one. PEBKAC was popular too, Problem Exists Between Keyboard and Chair. I've been given a couple printers to recycle because they were 'no good'. An office grade HP Laser that wouldn't turn off or on (you have to hold th power button down for a second, not just poke it). and an almost new Epson inktank w 2 black refill bottles. They went away for a month and now "it's no good at all just spits out blank paper". 2023 and they never even knew to press Clean Printheads. That one is currently on sale at Costco for $449. A lady just brought me a laptop to recycle, I asked if she had the power brick. She told me it didn't come with one, it has a battery. I guess the charge lasted since 2015 and finally ran out.
