No. Nathan Cullen. As a long time NDP i've often said their main problem was electing leaders by their skill at delivering the message. Layton was the only one this generation. I've jokingly stated they'd elect an ESL Helen Keller in a wheelchair because it's 2024... before one with qualifications. Besides, Singh dodged the question just like every other leading politician does so that should impress you on his political 'skills'. Join the crowd and condemn Singh for carrying stuff in a fancier bag than you have instead of a black plastic garbage bag instead.

Biden's weak demeanor puts Americans at risk abroad
herbie replied to West's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
When I see those two post I can't help but picture them as that photo of Rudy Giuliani with his brains leaking down the side of his head. -
Oh, using westman numbers argument. What's being discussed would only affect 987,000 odd native people so that's okay then. And the Salem witch trials were by Protestants, so they were okay too, eh? Your inability to distinguish authoritarianism from political leaning is showing, as it does with many on the board who think they're conservatives. Authoritarianism is the extreme end of any political position, and even as you condemn it you often reveal you only want to impose your own form of it.

Mutant apples in Canada
herbie replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Health, Science and Technology
I should try those apples. Can't be worse than those tasteless Red Delicious apples they use for commercial grade apple pies (that are 80& added sugar). More concerning is how store bought actual frozen pies are disappearing from shelves and the Industrial Grade ones are full of core parts and even stems these days. I sure miss the wife, she baked all the time. I'm useless at that and baking for just one is a waste of time and money. -
Most likely as 70% of us understand it's about 2% of what the whiners claim it does and doesn't make for shit in the price of food, clothing, shelter, professional fees, or medicine. We don't make phoney political ads claiming what it will be in 2035 is what is making gas expensive now. You didn't stop buying gas when it was $2.50 a litre, so Big Oil knows if they drop the Carbon Tax tomorrow, they could ding you $2.50 the day after using the flimsiest excuse a four year old could make up.

Google Caved and will pay $74 Million to News
herbie replied to ExFlyer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What a load of steaming horseshit spouted about. You think Google gives a flying you know what about $100 million to settle/ I's not 2000 anymore, that's pocket change to them. And they're not the main offender. You just search with Google, and a little is unpaid use of Cdn content on YouTubes. Meta's the one with the bulk of news links and in user posts buried among their pages of fraudulent and malware ads. You think it's Marxist to protect Cdn culture and business revenues? Prefer a nice healthy tariff on all foreign based social media instead? It's absurd to stand up for a foreign billionaire or corporation ahead of your own couintry's interests and more so when it affects you not at all. -

Santos Expelled from Congress
herbie replied to Aristides's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Even when found guilty in a court, he's NOT guilty. Even when he admits he signed the papers and claims he knows nothing on them. Even when he admits if he signs a contract today he doesn't have to honour it tomorrow. From his own f*cking mouth. Even after doing in court and during proceedings what anyone else in the whole world would be locked up for Contempt of Court, he still didn't do any of those things.... you firmly believe in the I'm not lying, the whole rest of the world is lying just to 'get' me excuse -
Santos Expelled from Congress
herbie replied to Aristides's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
If he was a 'good' homosexual would you support him? Or do you only support fraudulent lying con men if they're hetero and pay for their women? -
Just love it when you urban WASPs say someone with many friends and family members who have status that they're lying about residential schools or native matters. Bigoted know-it-all loud mouthed extremists pretending they're typical conservatives. So dimly aware that they actually prove allegations whenever they try to deny them. Typical argument of ignorance. Duh I have proof the Nazis didn't kill 6 million Jews, they only killed 5,467,302. That makes it all okay then... duhh, I "win" Like I mentioned: some people have the potential to learn, but think they're clever refusing to. (and here come the usual I know you are but what am I ? replies)

Alberta uses Sovereignty Act for 1st time. What happens now?
herbie replied to CdnFox's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
A simple statement that "we are unlikely to be able to meet those targets by that date, but we will try" would suffice. Without the goddam showboating. -
You are so f*cking brainwashed with that thinking that "truth" is or can be politically left or right. That isn't right wing thought, it's stupidity. Did a 'leftist Judge' come out with the ruling that free speech doesn't give you the right to shout Fire! in a crowded theatre? The explain to me the difference between that and say denying the Holocast in public? There's only one reason you'd do that and it sure isn't for the "public good". Knowing and having met many residential school survivors I can only conclude that any of those deiers are either dumb as a hammer or utter racist arseholes knowingly lying.

Natural gas should be a public resource again
herbie replied to Griswold's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
You buy into the story everyone in Atlantic Canada is destitute and one step from homelessness. Like I pointed out, some people already converted from oil, paid for a new furnace to save money before there even was a carbon tax. Normal people not 1% ers. If it's available, other people will convert to, and really f*cking fast. We have gas out our ying-yang here in BC and you think people aren't already moving to heat pumps cuz they're too f*cking broke to spend money now in order not to p1ss it away later? With all those govt and power company grants and low cost loans? You keep arguing the "can't afford gas now for my F350 and I'm too broke to sell it and buy a Toyota" point as if it applies to everyone in Canada. Nice try. -
Alberta uses Sovereignty Act for 1st time. What happens now?
herbie replied to CdnFox's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This has nothing whatsoever to do with people using natural gas. It has to do with multi-billion dollar companies not willing to change as slow and cheap as possible and Smith's distraction that being on her knees deep throating them is "standing up to Ottawa". The sole and endless plot of Alberta Conservatives to distract from their p1ss poor performance.. -
Alberta uses Sovereignty Act for 1st time. What happens now?
herbie replied to CdnFox's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
A meaningless show of butt stubborn defiance to something that doesn't even exist yet. Seems to be having a pissing contest with the Mayor of Surrey BC over who can p1ss off the higher ranks the most. No matter the cost to citizens. Just showed everyone who owns her. -
It continues... posting links to editorial opinions as if they were facts that prove one's point. Non-stop whataboutism, straw men and red herrings. Ad hominem as well as outright lying claiming when you said the sky is blue you said it was red. What would a doctor know about medicine? A Judge know about justice? The attitude is prevalent, some people in my own town would say what do I know about electronics, I've only designed, built, programmed and serviced that shit for over 50 years. Still phone for free help finding the MENU button on their TV remote or Start button on Windows 11 though.,

Canadian Judges increasing make governmental decisions
herbie replied to I am Groot's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Somewhat helped by a Constitution and Charter written 200 years later and more precise. IE not open to interpretations like YOU personally = a militia, and the colour of your skin, church you attend, or lack of a penis does not make you three-fifths human. -
Canadian Judges increasing make governmental decisions
herbie replied to I am Groot's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Cough... Harper... cough cough! The Supreme Court does not make governmental decisions, it rules on if govt decisions violate the Constitution or Charter or not. Govts often make wrong decisions and they've tossed many Trudeau govt decisions as well. The only difference 'politically' was that those were not ALL Crime Bills spewed out 3 times a day each sitting of Parliament. -
Natural gas should be a public resource again
herbie replied to Griswold's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Oh FFS I can't tell if your total negativity is due to manic depression or just being contrary out of spite. They'll PAY the same damn way everyone else in the country paid for theirs. And a public corporation can deliver it without gouging users to earn maximum profits. And they don't have to pay, they will want to as it costs less than oil heat. My sister converted to propane back in 2013 just because it costs less and natural gas was 'coming soon' a decade ago. We've blown tens of billions in tax dollars building lines to export oil & gas and totally neglected to supply Canadians with our own product. That is simply stupid.
