  1. In order for the funding of the activities it's deplacing to be maximized, overly burdensome tax rates are not the way to achieve that.
  2. No, if you want more government revenue for paying for your favorite gibs, then a lower tax will actually help fund it better than an overly high tax rate. You don't want to strange the profitability of the source of funding by taxing the sh*t out them, that results in less revenue because they make less money, so less can be collected in taxes because the pool to tax from is smaller.
  3. Are you even listening to yourself? You say they need incentivize home building through deregulation, while acting like the solution is disincentivizing home building through regulation of foreign buyers. Captain Contradiction to the rescue, half baked thinking is a helluva drug.
  4. Demand will not be considerably effected by such actions, the foreign buyers are not behind the rise in demand. Domestic demand will still continue to drive prices up even if all foreign ownership was banned, and it's a terrible idea.
  5. Why would America focus on BMD when their biggest geopolitical opponents are close to countering it? That seems foolish, once they get the hypersonic to test against their BMD, that will speed up BMD development more than anything as well, so they shouldn't slack on the hypersonic, especially when Russia and China are so close.
  6. Bernie would be a terrible pick, Biden needs to run to the center in the general election, not the left. Would be a very humorous pick though, just like AOC.
  7. If he picks AOC, that would make for maximum lulz, unfortunately I don't think Biden wants to lose almost every state, but it's hilarious to think about.
  8. Who gets them first and how long until the rest catch up?
  9. Bush won two presidential elections. Writing Biden off in the Democrat Primary is wishful thinking, or at least jumping the gun.
  10. To pretend like they can fix the problem when government intervention will just make it worse, and people like you will believe the bullsh*t they use to justify it. They pick a foreign boogeyman so you won't look at how local, provincial and federal governments have exacerbated the issue with previous interventions, because you are too busy looking abroad for the cause. When the foreign tax doesn't work, which it currently isn't, you simply assume it wasn't high enough, the answer is always evermore government intervention. People like you are the problem, not foreigners.
  11. Anecdotal evidence, your perception doesn't reflect the wider reality.
  12. You're entirely wrong, you fell for media hype and propaganda. All major first world cities have similar pricing problem and foreign buyers are not the cause, they play only a minor role in it and are being scapegoated as the primary cause.
  13. The reason is that non-international money is driving up housing prices, international money is not the main driver, not even close. If you banned all foreign buyers, it wouldn't even come close to making Vancouver more affordable. High Vancouver housing prices are not the fault of foreign boogeymen.
  14. Yeah well, the oil ain't staying in the ground, no matter how hard you wish that it would, therefore you've got to transport that oil one way or another, so might as well go with the safest and most economic way of doing that. Shutting down pipelines ain't helping the environment, it just forces more oil to be transported by more dangerous and less economic methods, so be careful what you wish for.
  15. Yeah but more accidents happen with other methods of transport, which is worse for the environment, so that's irrelevant. Stop with the anti-pipeline propaganda already, all the transportation methods have their downsides, but pipelines are the least flawed method of the bunch.
  16. Pipelines are the most environmentally friendly way to transport oil, why you fearmongering bro? You think shipping it in via train is safer? Ask Lac-Mégantic.
  17. Wasting more money on the military will not make Canada any safer, so why throw more money away when doing so will not restore lost capacity and it's already a lost cause? Canada is already in the hands of foreign power, wasting more money will not change that. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and huffing the peacekeeping Humanitarian Pixie Dust to justify wasteful spending is not good for Canada. Who cares if the other countries criticize us for not spending more on the military? Whoop dee doo. Canada can't be relied upon in trade and foreign policy, America is simply calling us out on it, that doesn't mean they can't be relied on.
  18. House prices aren't going to get more affordable in Vancouver, government subsidized housing isn't going to fix it, and neither is taxing foreign home buyers.
  19. Eventually there will be a recession, but predicting when is the hard part.
  20. Actually, they wanted two birds with one stone, and they got it.
  21. Geopolitics always was a strong suit of yours, Brewster on the other hand got high on wishful thinking, which clouded his analysis. Even at the time, it was obvious your prediction was better than his, from where I was sitting anyway. I gave you dap then, and I give you dap now, good call.
  22. Humanitarian Pixie Dust is also a helluva drug. Obama had a mountain of it on his desk, like Scarface, when it came to Syria and Libya. Heart was in the right place, sure, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions, so it's best to lay off the HPD.
  23. Weak Bench + Doubling Down On Fail = Incumbent Smash
  24. Skipping straight to military build up is the way to go. Trump went with the stimulus first though, so see Dems, not Literally Hitler, more like FDR, also a New Yorker.
  25. Turns out Commies like to centralize power in a cult of personality tyrant, who knew? Thankfully in 2020, the Dems don't have an FDR, so even in an economic downturn, Trump might still win. Even AOC's former chief of staff said the Green New Deal was really about a radical central planning restructuring of the economy and the environmental branding was basically a front, they got a leaked tape of him actually saying that, which is probably why he's not working for her anymore.
