The righties who buy into this myth think that if they just run someone with less political baggage, Trump could be in trouble. What they don't realize is Hillary Clinton was popular before she ran in 2016, she had like 66% approval rating when she was Obama's Secretary of State. Trump and Bernie just tore her down and made her "uniquely unpopular" by triggering her into pandering to the left too much, and Trump and the far left Dem 2020 field can easily do that to whoever the Dems pick in 2020 as well.

They simply blame Hillary Clinton, they think if they just run someone else with the same strategy, that will boost turnout in key swing states that were close last election and give them back the White House. Hell even some dolts on the right buy into that nonsense, thinking that Hillary was just uniquely unpopular and that if they run Biden they got this.

They do have a plan, it's just the same plan that lost in 2016, and they are doubling down on the derp. They are even more divided now than in 2016 though. They are engaging in wishful thinking like Trump is so unpopular that they can flip states that have voted Red for a very long time, just because the demographics are moving in their direction in those states even though they are nowhere near a tipping point. Of course Trump isn't that unpopular, he just is among Dems, and they are projecting the views of TDS Dems on swing voters in Republican leaning states and swing states, due to living in echo chamber.

The Dems new strategy seems to be abandon the Rust Belt and focus on the Sun Belt, but the far left nonsense doesn't play well in Arizona, Florida, Texas or Georgia, so they are going about it in a very idiotic way.

They think they can flip Texas by running up the vote in the urban centers, it's that level of delusion on their part. Maybe in a decade or two Dems, but y'all are seriously jumping the gun on that. Pushing the gun grabbing doesn't play well in Texas, and that's putting it lightly.

If Wisconsin and Florida are more red in 2020 than they were in 2016, which seems likely, the Democrats need to flip Texas to win. Good luck with that, especially when you are running on McGovernism and all your candidates are ridiculous gun grabbers.

It's gotten a little bit worse for Democrats actually, a lot of the swing states from 2016 will be further to the right in 2020 than they were in 2016, and Trump is more popular now than on the day he was elected. His approval rating in swing states is well above his national average.

1972 seems to be the closest parallel for sure. 2020 is not 1980 or 1992, the Democrats have no Ronald Reagan or Bill Clinton to run against Trump, the economy isn't in bad shape and there is no big foreign policy fail that the electorate will punish Trump for either. Not at all, Trump's base is firmly behind him, Bush Sr did not. The reason HW Bush. lost is because he ran into Bill Clinton and the economy wasn't doing well, there is no Bill Clinton running for the Dems in 2020 and the economy is booming. Also HW Bush never had outrageous opening offers for the sake of negotiation leverage as his brand to justify his actions, while Trump does. Trump can also blame the Democrats which is not something Bush could sell effectively since he could have obstructed the new taxes if he wanted to and didn't, while Trump is trying to build the wall and being obstructed. The people aren't going to see reason, so it's never going to happen. You can give them reasons until you are blue in the face, they will simply double down on the derp. Judges in MMA sit cageside and judge the fight using their eyes, from what they call "the best seat in the house, even though they have access to monitors as well, and the view you get on the monitor is 100x better than using your own eyes from a cage side seat, 99% of the time. But they very often just stubbornly refuse to just look at the monitor, thinking their eyes from their seat are better than looking at the best of multiple camera angles, which plays into why they judge so poorly all the damn time. Rue is a sh*tty MMA judge who thinks the F-35 is losing a fight it is very clearly winning because he refuses to watch the damn monitor, and he think pilots are sh*tty MMA judges too.

Because of thinking such as yours people will continue to die, because you will implement ineffective policy just to feel like you are doing something to help, even when it's counter-productive and doesn't save any lives. Feeling like you are helping, and actually helping, are two different things, and you have confused the former with the later.
