America under President Trump
Yzermandius19 replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
As long as it takes, if they got a smoking gun. If smoking gun testimony is an October surprise, all the better for Dems, but they know they don't have it, which is why they didn't want to wait. If you want to remove Trump from office, going forward with what they have doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell, if they have a smoking gun, they could flip a lot of Republicans. If you have the goods, there is no need to rush, and every reason to get your ducks in a row, if you don't have the goods, then there is every reason to rush and make impeachment go away before it does more damage than it already has to your election efforts. -

Because it was a partisan witch hunt not worth wasting their time on. If the Democrats thought they had a smoking gun, they would have waited for them to testify, instead of rushing things. -
He ripped it up because it speed up the nuclearization of Iran and was an idiotic deal that never would have been ratified.

You want free speech banned dude, because politicians lie. Complete clown show, even if you made such a ridiculous law, it would not result in honest politicians, just selective enforcement against political opponents. Dumbest plan ever.
-
Why should lying be illegal? You really think freedom of speech only means speech you agree with or aren't bothered by, don't you? Politicians have no right to free speech, if they don't use that speech in a way that eyeball agrees with, what could possibly go wrong with such a law?

Foreign policy was never their strong suit.

Preamble to Charter of Rights....
Yzermandius19 replied to Scott Mayers's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Nothing wrong with nationalism and popularity has nothing to with it whether it is "odd" or not. Why you'd even bring up argument ad populum to support your attacks on nationalism, when fronting like a master of logic, that is beyond me. -

First he trashes on religion and now he trashes on nationalism. -
America under President Trump

The Democrats only allowed witnesses to testify who were going to say things that they thought would hurt Trump, and refused to wait and allow other witnesses to testify, because they know they didn't have the goods and wanted to get impeachment over with, because the longer it drags on, the more it hurts them. Acting like the Republicans are the only one's acting partisan here is laughable. -
Preamble to Charter of Rights....
Yzermandius19 replied to Scott Mayers's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The supremacy of god being mentioned in the preamble is not infringing on anyone's rights. Protecting specific religious groups has nothing to do with the supremacy of god being mentioned in the preamble either. /shrugs -

Not hating on the religious is not an intolerance of rational thinking. Lulz -
Preamble to Charter of Rights....
Yzermandius19 replied to Scott Mayers's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Because that would accomplish nothing, you just want to remove all religious references in the preamble, because you are a militant atheist who hates on religion. There is no need to change anything, changing it will not do anything beneficial, you want it gone because you have animus towards the religious. There are far bigger problems with the Charter than the preamble, you focusing on the preamble makes no sense, aside from hating on something religious. -

So? Nothing wrong with that. -
Preamble to Charter of Rights....
Yzermandius19 replied to Scott Mayers's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If god existed, why wouldn't you want him on your side? Seems like you just don't want any religious sentiments included in preamble, because you're a militant atheist hostile to any mention of religion in any legal document. -

If the Dems rig it, that will play in Biden's favor, not against him. Ain't no last minute white knight going to save them. -
Preamble to Charter of Rights....
Yzermandius19 replied to Scott Mayers's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If you want it to change it, then Confederation has to end. As long as Confederation exists, it's not going change. Quebec will not stay without it's special rights and privileges, if you get rid of them, Quebec would bail. Quebec is not going to go along with your constitutional changes, and will fight tooth and nail to keep them. So what's more important to you, Quebec remaining part of Canada, or doing away with their special rights and privileges? You can't have your cake and eat it too. -
Preamble to Charter of Rights....
Yzermandius19 replied to Scott Mayers's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This is Canada. Of course certain religions get special favors, that is baked into Confederation from the beginning, without it, there would be no Confederation. Canada is not America, expecting it to be America is just a recipe for disappointment. -
Preamble to Charter of Rights....

All this hand wringing about god being mentioned in the preamble is pretty funny. A lot of silly extrapolations about this being the source of any dysfunction in Canadian governance as well. A shout out to god is not the problem with the Constitution, Confederation is the problem. Atheists always blaming religion for all the world's problem is very typical though, haters gonna hate. -
The 2010s... How will they be remembered?
Yzermandius19 replied to DrYouth's topic in Arts and Culture
Our grandparents generation fought with tyrants and depended on doing business with them, they weren't that appalled. Joseph Stalin knows. You are projecting your own virtue signalling on past generations, try speaking for yourself instead of putting words in other people's mouth. -
It is not difficult to judge old goalies as worse, because you can see they give up far more bad goals being completely out of position, and blaming that solely on the equipment is just silly. Goalies have gotten a lot better, it's not just the equipment, they actually understand angles and positioning now, the old timers didn't have a clue. They'd either get beat on deke being way out of the net, or bite on a shot that left them way out position for a long distance shot, Gretzky was a master at exploiting this until they wised up. They looked like fish out of water, flopping around like Magikarp, if you actually examine the tape, this trend is not hard to see, stop letting nostalgia blind you.

America under President Trump

Communists infest both movements. That doesn't mean all feminists and environmentalists are communists, anymore than all nationalists are fascists. -

Not all nationalists are fascists. Claiming that Trump's nationalism makes him a fascist is nonsensical. -

I know plenty about lefties, I used to be one. I know them better than they know themselves. The lefties that see the bias and don't share are willing to look the other way when their side does it, and are only outraged when the other side does it.
