You’re describing the differences between rural provinces and the city crowd. This isn’t what defines a country. Yes to your point there is a cultural divide but that’s not just Canada, the same is true of America. The Prairies are akin to the Midwest and Texas. Canada’s respective coast has their equivalent just south of the border.

Why Are We Doing This U.S. Vs. Canada Thing?
paxamericana replied to Zeitgeist's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Mhmmm, and yet Canada is still b*tching everytime America changes its foreign trade policy. We've been neighbours for at least 200 years, you'd think Canadians would have learned by now... Everyone is making deals with America except Canada it seems.- 223 replies

Why Wind Power Is Useless

It’s all good and dandy to save the world using other people’s money is it? Look, I’m not against humanitarian aid; either on religious or geopolitical grounds(soft power). I just think USAID funding should not be burdened by the American tax payer like an entitlement program. So if we’re grifting corrupt politicians to remove friction for other reasons, we should have a separate money pool clearly designated as a friction removal fund. Like stop with the transgender education program for children in Burma. Seriously we’re not that stupid, if you’re going to fund a CIA backed coup use a separate funding source…

The only way out is with American investment. Canada has natural resource but lack the capital and infrastructure to make full use of said resource. There is no one else to turn to because we're all ageing out. America has a young enough generation of size the Millennial to still support a consumption lead economy. An Economy that Canada could be part of... only one condition, 51st. So while I understand the self begrudging pride you all hold for not being American, I suggest you all do the right thing and at the very least, allow your sons and daughter the ability to become a 51st state when you die. Put a time on it, by year 2050 Canada will enter into formal negotiation of petition for statehood, as an example. You've no idea the amount of American cheddar that will pour into Canada if you did.- 223 replies

Oh I didn't know amnesia was also a Canadian affliction, history didn't start in 1834 but if we're going to play Archaeology and dig up things from the past, is that why Canada celebrates it's indigenous people day?You all seem so insistent on atoning... I meant recognising this patchwork of hatred with the other provinces. While we're here, don't kid yourselves, if anything, the list of Canadian war crimes mirror that of America right up to and including WWII. You sat out Vietnam, and refused to help the French so not much need to be said about that, but hey, you got your hands dirty there in Afghanistan. Look at you, a mini America with nearly identical war crimes. You know, for a country that insist it's not American you all can't help but behave like Americans. If anything I dare say, Canadians are MORE American than actual Americans.- 223 replies

and don't forget, xenophobic. The most bigoted, hateful country on the North American continent, whose entire cultural premise, is that they're not American.- 223 replies

It’s ironic but America and Canada and any artic bordering countries stand to benefit from warming of the Artic.

America cannot afford to border a failed narco state on its southern border. Is it time to invade Mexico again?

Why Are We Doing This U.S. Vs. Canada Thing?
paxamericana replied to Zeitgeist's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Im not convinced. Culture is determined by economic integration first and foremost. Geography inhibits that. Specifically trade routes, the provinces are more economically integrated with America than other provinces because of Canada’s rugged geography That’s not the case between Canada and America. All major Canadian populations centers are distributed along the American Border.- 223 replies

It’s been in the US strategic interest to have all people living on the North American continent to fly one banner. The Canadian are the easiest to integrate onto American society as they’re already…American. Trump is not wrong in wanting to absorb Canada and Greenland. It’s purely for security. However, there is a cost, Canada is aging into obsolescence, it’s not economically viable to support a dozen Mississippi and their pensioners. Whether America wants to burden that cost is a fair question.

Senate Votes to Overturn Canada's Tariffs

Democracy is not the same as a constitutional republic. There is a huge difference. Representation and the rule of law is the highest standard of a constitutional republic. Democracy is just mob rule. -
