  1. No distinction is being made between supporters of the protest and people maintaining blockades. This is very much about using anti-terrorist legislation to discredit and remove political opposition. It’s unconstitutional, but that’s the fate of those who have what Trudeau considers “unacceptable” views.
  2. It’s used against anyone supporting the protests directly or indirectly. I provided the direct quote from the CBC in bold in another post. Do your homework.
  3. No violence from the protesters. They’re removing kids in order to impose state violence against the protesters. In fact, CAS said that even if the police are causing the violence, the protester parents will be blamed because they were told to leave. Truly frightening and disgusting. I wonder when the RCMP will start disappearing political opponents.
  4. What does the protest against vaccine mandates have to do with Islamophobia? There were many Muslims in the protests. This is a really rotten and divisive tactic, to try to say that the protests are race-motivated.
  5. That should all come to light as conflict of interest, but instead we’re getting false accusations against protesters and the use of martial law legislation intended to be used for counter-terrorism. Incredible.
  6. And what recourse do those who are arrested under martial law have?
  7. The imposition of martial law and the unconstitutional vaccine mandates have nothing to do with white supremacy. Stop this. You’re no better than Trudeau for making something mean something it isn’t. How many swastikas were there at the protests? One? Two? Were the people carrying them Nazism supporters or were they saying Trudeau is a Nazi? Did anyone interview them? You don’t know but why not rush to judgement? I do know what the person thinks who carried the sign saying, “Gas the unvaccinated.” What about the USSR flag at the protest that someone filmed? Once you start looking for outlier examples in order to discredit the roughly 10,000 people who proclaimed that they were there to oppose vaccine mandates, you’re doing Trudeau’s dirty work. That’s called collaboration.
  8. You’re wrong. They don’t have to read the rights right now because Trudeau imposed martial law. This is the normally required procedure: “The arresting officer must inform the accused of the charges and their right to counsel. Typically, the officer will read from a script such as: I am arresting you for [name of offence(s)]. You have the right to retain and instruct counsel without delay.”
  9. These collaborative voices are the people who would snitch on their neighbours for harbouring Jews or inform on neighbours for criticizing government under Stalin. We’re seeing the true colours of a lot of people.
  10. You’re such a fool. No reading of rights. These police are helping the government oppress Canadians. It’s truly awful.
  11. This is no different from Soviet or Maoist suppression of freedoms. I never thought I’d see this in my lifetime. Canada is a totalitarian country.
  12. When there’s real damage to property and threats to industry, our government is silent: https://apple.news/AYuGGzW0zQLuXraFlMBL8yA
  13. Your perspective is so dangerously supportive of tyranny that I don’t know how you can write with a straight face.
  14. And Trudeau calls himself a Catholic, the guy who said pro life people can’t be in his party or get government-funded jobs. He is a tyrant and a hypocrite.
  15. Singh doesn’t support the working people of Canada. He doesn’t see the plight of people who have been thrown out of work because of the pandemic and unconstitutional policies. He’s making the protests about race, even though there are protesters of all backgrounds. His own brother donated to the protest. Is his brother a “racist” and a “misogynist”? Do not forget that Singh is voting to support martial law on Monday night. He’s as arrogant, privileged, and out of touch as Trudeau.
  16. It’s not about individual rights in Canada but what the government orders. and there are enough unquestioning people to comply..
  17. It’s funny, living in Canada and watching internet feeds of non-Canadian state media reminds me of when I was living in Russia listening to Voice of America. Canadians hear noise on Canadian media about disruptive blockades associated with extremists. They watch selected snippets of the PM and a righteous new Ottawa police chief talk about restoring order to shut down “unlawful blockades” (that have already been cleared). Most Canadians figure, yup they’re getting rid of the bad guys and switch back to watching the Olympics or prime time fluff. This is how Canada has been quietly transformed into a dictatorship. We’re living under unconstitutional policies and martial law, but just turn the channel or watch puppies on Tic Toc and all the troubles disappear.
  18. Not always.
  19. The blockades are gone. What universe are you in? The vaccine mandates and martial law are still here. The dancing, singing, and unity we saw at the protests, with families of all backgrounds coming together, is being stomped out by our government. It’s really awful.
  20. It’s against the Canadian constitution to do all of these things but our government is doubling down and removing any requirement to justify their suppression of opposition to vaccine mandates. I still can’t believe this is happening in Canada when other countries are dropping mandates and restrictions. I’ve never been truly ashamed of Canada until now.
  21. Well the injunction against the horns was fair enough. That was a reasonable response by the authorities.
  22. In your fascistic opinion.
  23. I have to say that given the ease of online voting, we could become more democratic in real time. We had rich discussions about this last summer, the idea of more frequent referenda. However, the public doesn’t have to sit on committees to look at budgets and other limitations, so you can end up with policies that are impractical to implement. That’s another reason for having constitutional protections, to keep the electorate within parameters that don’t discriminate or abuse minority or individual rights.
  24. Apples and oranges. Don’t use false equivalences.
