  1. It's funny because if you watched or read The Handmaid's Tale - when representatives of the government of Canada came to check out what was going on, the Handmaids all publicly voiced that what they were doing was their choice. Of course, they said that so they wouldn't be beaten or killed.
  2. We've gone over this time and time again. The habit is a uniform. It's their job. Same as other jobs that have uniforms. Nuns are not required to wear habits at all times. Nor are they beaten or thrown in prison or threatened with eternal hellfire if they are caught without it on.
  3. I concur with many experts and studies (such as the one I linked in a recent comment above) who agree that: I'm aware that you disagree and that you believe Islam - the religion - bears no responsibility for how its followers behave. I'm not the only one who disagrees with you, so don't make out like I'm a racist and Islamophobe for finding many of the teachings of Islam dangerous and harmful.
  4. Pants and shorts both have the same purpose. Same with hijabs and burqas.
  5. Yes. It's always a choice whether to act on the instructions of a religion or religious leader that teaches intolerance, hatred and violence. You excuse the religion. I do not.
  6. And......... holding and acting on extreme religious beliefs do not negate that the individuals are still responsible for their actions. I'm not sure what your'e arguing here.
  7. Nope. The burqa is just an even more extreme version of an already extreme garment.
  8. I agree. That's why I don't do that.
  9. An interesting paper: http://macdonaldlaurier.ca/files/pdf/20190205_MLI_Canadian_Terrorists_Wilner_PAPER_WebFinal.pdf It examines terrorism in some specific countries in Europe, the US and Canada. Even though we were assured by Canadian authorities that the ramming attack in Edmonton done by the Muslim guy with an ISIS flag in his car, was NOT Islamic terrorism, it is included in this report on page 20. (I think it was obvious that it WAS an Islamic attack, though, no matter what the government was telling us.) I think we should start looking closer at what is happening in mosques in these cities:

    What is up with all the machete attacks in Toronto?  Seriously....machetes?  When did this become a thing in Canada?

      There is such a thing as a concealed carry handgun permit in Canada, it can be issued by the police.

      They don't issue them except to the politically connected and wealthy.

      Like Norm Gardiner had one when he was head of the police services board for example.

      They are ostensibly issued on the basis of someone having reasonable fear that they are being stalked to be killed.

      Women should lobby for these permits to be issued to them to deal with violent spouse attacks.

      Unfortunately most woman are lefty gun grabbers, and that's why the police don't issue them to anybody.

      There was that women who was killed in her home and her two children were killed too, out in York Mills.

      The ex-boyfriend was a huge guy who was a repeat violent offender, stabbed them all to death,

      There's no way she could have stopped him without a gun.

      My old auntie down in America, she packs heat all the time, S&W .357 magnum pocket revolver.

      Compact, light, very easy to use, point and click, with stopping power to put any man down.

      This is the man who is accused of killing them;

      This is the only way she would have had a fighting chance to stop him;

  11. No. A woman can dress modestly without having her hair, face, hands and body swathed in fabric that impedes her ability to walk, to move, to hear, to interact with others, to enjoy life. A hijab is a sexual fetish that caters to men's fragile egos. There is no reason why a woman should have to go around looking like a walking apology for being female, nor hide that she is female.
  12. That's an odd view. Even though there are lots of "hijab hoaxes" - even here in Canada - I don't write off every incident as being a hoax. I'm fully aware that it happens for real.
  13. I do sometimes think the reason some defend Islam no matter what it does is because they are sooooo against Western capitalism, influence or Western whatever and they find an ally in Muslims for that world-view. I was reading about how the LGBQT community in Europe at first stood up for Muslims, thinking "Hey, You're a minority and we're a minority, we should team up to right the wrongs in this country." Until Islamic leaders started calling for separate Sharia courts that would have the authority to stone gays to death. Yes - a wee bit of a surprise.
  14. Yes, I was reading an article a while back by a Muslim reformer (I think Fateh, but I'm not sure....) who said we need to pay attention to weasel-y words like "As a Norwegian Muslim, I obey the laws of our country" or "As a Canadian Muslim, I don't agree with executing gays" because what they are saying is that as soon as Norway or Canada caves into Islam - they will be fully Muslim and our laws will not mean anything to them.
  15. They don't really. But I think the information I posted about Muslims in the UK - the vast majority of them want Sharia law with all its barbarity - THAT is the law they are loyal to.
  16. Who gives a crap if YOU think it's irrelevant? It's clearly very relevant to people who terrorize int he name of a religion. If a religion is telling its followers to hate and kill, then the religion is very relevant. Smarten up.
  17. This is one thing that no Western supporters of the terrorist government Hamas in Palestine ever seem to consider: Israel is the only democracy in the region to which people can flee to when they find themselves in Islam's crosshairs. Gay Palestinians, for example, all flee to Israel and are given protection there. It infuriates Palestine that these people have a safe place to run to - They are then viewed as traitors to Islam and conspirators with Israel.
  18. Shouldn't you be letting someone in authority know of these planned terror attacks? Also, how do you know terrorists are going to attack in Britain? Or is this your own personal threat you're making here?
  19. Does not compute. Cog dis in high gear. Brain goes goes back to the comforting "It's a choice! It empowers women! It's a symbol of freedom!" Aaaaaaaannnnnd......crickets. Handmaids, all.
  20. Primarily Canada, the US, Australia and the UK. Yes, mainly females feared for their lives. The extra freedoms accorded to men in Islam allows them to still "blend in" a bit better, even when they are no longer true believers. A woman who refuses to wear the hijab is taken as a sign of loss of faith - there's not an outward sign like that for men who lose faith. Not going to mosque as often is the worst and that seems more forgivable.
  21. It really is sad. I include Scientology in that list, too. The details of the religious abuse vary according to the religion, but the effects on people are basically the same.
  22. Islam also produces more children who are then "born into" the religion. That accounts for some of the growth, too. It's not necessarily people "converting" to Islam. Don't forget that while Muslim women cannot marry outside the faith, Muslim men are free to marry non-Muslim women and convert them. In fact, they must convert.
  23. I knew. 12-15 years ago when I was working with the ex-JW community, we used to occasionally get a Muslim who wanted to leave Islam and there wasn't anywhere for them to go. Now there are ex-Muslim facebook groups and reddits. I'm glad they are finally setting up support networks for each other. Most of the Muslims who showed up on the ex-JW boards we had to direct them elsewhere, ex-JW's dont' generally fear for their lives, ex-Muslims do. They were welcome to stay and discuss on the boards, but we always told these ones they needed to go to the police if they feared for their life.
  24. In case you are interested, here is Ms. Sabaditsch-Wolff's reply to the whole affair: (Unfortunately it's from Jihad Watch which I know you reject as a source) https://www.jihadwatch.org/2018/10/elisabeth-sabaditsch-wolff-responds-to-eu-courts-ruling-that-speech-insulting-muhammad-is-prohibited
  25. I'm not sure why you feel it has to be a "majority" of Muslims who want this for it to be a problem, but it is indeed a majority in Britain. I would think results would be similar in other Western countries and far higher in Muslim majority countries. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/many-british-muslims-put-islam-first/ Would you call this "moderate"? I do not.
