If you don't love Islam and give Islam the respect she feels it deserves, you're human scum in Dia's books. -

Really? You're telling people to leave the forum? How Altai of you. -
The religion does make it more difficult to separate the beliefs - from the people who follow it. Since pretty much everything is allowable in Islam, from honor killing, subjugation of women/girls and FGM to hating on Jews, dogs, music, gays and anyone not Muslim - it's hard to know what beliefs individual Muslims hold and will act on. I'm sure the Muslim police guy in France who killed 4 of his coworkers, would have been described by Dialamah and Eyeball as a wonderful example of a peaceful Muslim who integrated beautifully - prior to him acting on his beliefs. Ted Bundy was described in glowing terms by people who did not know what he really believed. While this can be true of everyone - no one can say for certainty when or how individual people will act on their beliefs, Islamic beliefs seem to lay like a dormant virus until the opportunity to act on them arises for individuals. Same with JW's - they all officially will let their child die before they give them a blood transfusion. That is their core belief and teaching. Very few are actually put in the position of having to make that choice though. And when they are - some may not follow through on the religion's teachings. But most do. I see the same thing in Islam. Many of the core beliefs are harmful. This is a fact. Proven in the news every day. The desperate attempts to re-brand it as "religion of peace" are not fooling most people any more. Given the opportunity to act on those teachings, we have no idea what individual Muslims will do. Dia insists she knows what all Muslims will do, but she doesn't. But like the JW's, I think far more are willing to do what they are taught to please their God than some here are willing to admit. And sorrynotsorry, but platitudes of "Don't worry, most Muslims don't even follow their faith" or accusing everyone of Islamophobia and racism for distrusting the religion, really are not reassuring. Remember when Dia chastised us by saying she had a new Muslim neighbor who was just so wonderful and Dia said she would rather have her for a neighbor than any of us? Dia knows nothing about what this woman actually believes, yet just based on the fact that she is Muslim - that makes her better in Dia's books than anyone else, no matter what her actual beliefs are. I meet people all the time that seem nice. But if after getting to know them, I find they believe Jews are filth or agree that anyone who leaves Islam should be killed too bad we can't do it here in Canada......those are dangerous beliefs. Dangerous beliefs that they pass on to their children. Dangerous beliefs that lay like a dormant virus until an opportunity arises to act on them. I am 100% on board with giving the benefit of the doubt and treating everyone I meet with respect and dignity and that includes individual Muslims. But I also do remember that they follow a religion that is volatile, violent and has cornered the market on harmful beliefs and practices.

I don't think Janet Jackson is Muslim anymore. https://www.thedailybeast.com/inside-janet-jacksons-billion-dollar-divorce-singer-tired-of-being-the-obedient-muslim-wife

Of course it is. I doubt anyone believes ALL 1.(whatever) billion Muslims all think and act the same way. It's always interesting when they throw the "But Christians did something similar once." argument too. They are of course, correct. We KNOW from history that religion and religious texts have the ability to inspire some pretty nasty behaviour. Yet this is denied when it comes to Islam. For some reason, some people believe Muslims are immune to this human trait - that they can be taught repetitively that women are inferior and must cover themselves at all times in public, that kafirs are inferior and should be subject to Muslims and those who do not agree with Islam should die, that Islam is entitled to rule the world, that Jews are filth, that anyone who leaves Islam should die, that stoning, burning people alive and cutting off body parts are divine punishments - and that this has no effect on them. The funniest was when we were talking about the plight of women in Islam and I was told here that just because a Muslim man smacks his wife around, forces her to wear a burka when they go out (if he allows her out at all), and conditions her to accept her lower status by walking behind the man and allowing her own young sons to have authority over her - that it is Islamophobic of me to assume that that Muslim man doesn't agree with equality. It is racist of me to assume that he doesn't respect women. And that I'm a horrible person for thinking the religion that teaches him this is a shitty one. Yet, if a white man were to treat his wife that way, there would be no argument that it is abusive.

No where did I state that "all Muslims" are wearing the shirt. No where did I state that "all Muslims" agree with the shirt. I agree that would be irresponsible. Which is why I didn't say any of those things.

It seems like most debate/discussion on this forum is just people nitpicking a choice of word or questioning the motives of the OP or accusations that the OP does not care about other, similar issues since they didn't include those in their remarks. It's the same people all the time - they don't want to discuss or debate the actual point of the post. They just want to destroy the poster.
-
Strange that people would react negatively to that. This is exactly what the HRT in BC said when they dumped the Yaniv case.

Sorry, I wasnt' around for much of the 60's so I'm not really sure if it was all "swept under the rug". I remember hearing about the race riots when I got older though, so it seems to me that it wasn't swept under the rug. I agree. So why do you feel the need to minimize the deaths and families of 9/11? Or minimize what's happening in Islam? Or demand that no one talk about it? Or call those who do talk about it racists? (I think you're confused on this one - Islam isn't a "race".)
-
Feel free to start on thread on black riots in the 60's. This is about Islamic terrorism. If you don't want to talk about it, that's fine, but why change the subject?
-
Or maybe so that over 3000 deaths would not be counted to Islam, so that the numbers would look like how you want them to look?
-
We actually did talk about this. Maybe before you arrived here. Why do you think the source you quoted chose to start the death tally the day after 9/11?
-
You kind of went from 0 to 200 there. No one wants to ban Islam from Canada. We just want to talk about what's going on around the world when it comes to Islam. (In case you didn't know - people talk about it a lot behind your back. You can police what people say here if you like, but you can't stop people from noticing and talking about what's going on.)
-
And you think people ignored those things like you want us to ignore what Islam is doing? You must have been asleep if you think no one was allowed to talk about the IRA or the FLQ, like we're not allowed to talk about Islam.
-
Have you been living in a crate with no contact from the outside world? Yes, it's a huge problem now. In every country. I'm not sure how you think this: https://www.cbc.ca/archives/entry/bomb-in-parliament-misses-its-target-in-1966 compares to a world-wide "in the name of Islam" terror organization that bombs and kills citizens in every country, but......
-
For me, it's not just experiencing more crime, it's also the TYPES of crimes. I can't believe the number of machete killings and attacks in Canada now, people chasing other people down the street with a machete in broad daylight. Honor killings of teenage girls who don't want to cover (but it's totally a choice, right?). Vehicles being driven into crowds. Bombings, acid attacks, fatwas against journalists, burning people alive are next if Europe is an indication of what to expect. As a woman, it used to be that you could avoid situations or do certain things to ensure your safety when you went out. But men from a culture that views women as trash, especially white women, they can target you anywhere. And just your presence pisses them off, god forbid you should have to deal with them in any way.

They are not being prevented from working in government or public positions. Women who choose to follow a religious ritual that denigrates themselves and signifies them as being inferior to men are participating in their own oppression. There is no flaw in that argument. Yes, we all know that. Thank you for pointing out something obvious. Here, we are talking about women being beaten and killed over religious attire that is exclusive to women. Changing the subject to some other type of killing does not indicate a flaw in my argument.
-
OK. Quebec is abusing it's own citizens? Link please. Hijabs and burkas are always harmful to women, men, children and society. You will not convince me that hijabs and burkas are empowering or harmless. Too many women are being beaten, killed, imprisoned - even in Western countries - over this garment. There is nothing good about it. The fact that some women choose to participate in their own oppression, is not a selling feature for me. Sorrynotsorry.
-
Tell that to Aqsa Parvez.
-
Well, in secular countries religious abuse is being recognized more and more as being harmful to humans. I think it's difficult to argue that yarmulkes or turbans are harmful. Hijabs and burkas are harmful to women, children, men and society. Physically and psychologically, they are harmful.
-
I think it was Abel in that particular fable.
-
No they're not. Honor killing and FGM and lots of other ridiculous religious nonsense in the name of religion is not guaranteed in the charter.
-
Wow. If that's all it takes to "destroy" a religion is ban their headgear when they work in positions of authority, why haven't we done this sooner?
-
Even their "irks" are couched in dishonesty: "If" ..........Like women all over the world aren't being forced, killed, beaten, imprisoned, assaulted on the daily over this.
