  1. I'm feeling ill, you and I seem to be in almost complete agreement for once. Something must be wrong.
  2. The Trump supporters were the violent ones. Yes there was some talk among the Hilary supporters that if they looked sideways the naturally violent Trump supporters would start violent actions, although there is no indication this ever happened. Yes, right wingers are naturally violent.
  3. The chat room works good when people come together around a topic. It worked out good during the November election because a lot of us were sitting around watching the tube at the time. Otherwise it seems like largely a hit and miss, and you can see where the emphasis is. I've always wondered if it was worthwhile to schedule a chat session on a specific topic, perhaps it could be tried just to see if it works. I have noticed certain times of day that the board is more active, perhaps Greg can look at activity charts to see when that occurs and it would be a good time to try and schedule one. There are multiple modes of communicating on this board (regular topics, status updates and chat), and then there seems to be two additional modes of messaging (private & public). Perhaps having so many different modes does not really help.
  4. I wondered who that was. I saw Trump waving to him and exchanging a hello, and Obama went over and spoke to him for awhile. Didn't catch the Clintons as they exited. Just looked it up, he is 93. Logic is also failing. Comparing a vote number to eligible votes is complete propaganda, because Trump didn't get the non-voters either. Yes, Trudeau needs to get a move on on the electoral reforms. His first appointment in that area turned out to be a dud, hopefully Gould will pick up the ball and move it forward. I'm not impressed with her initial actions, but give her a few weeks to settle in.
  5. Wrong, America's political system is so screwed up that choice is not even offered. The American political system is about the elites (including the most elite of all Trump) telling the plebs what they want.
  6. This "my country first" is dumb. Sure you want to support your own people, but you live in a world where you need to cooperate with others. The notion that you can screw the rest of the world will only hurt your own people in the end. Dumb rhetoric, swallowed by non thinking masses.
  7. Drill baby, drill. Those polar bears will be swimming in oil soon.
  8. There was no draft for women when Clinton was of age, in fact the current selective service is written for males only, but Trump is a draft dodger.
  9. It`s nice to know there is no shortage of sand.
  10. Trump skipped out on bootcamp, the benefits of being rich you don`t have to do what you force the rest of the plebs to do.
  11. A couple of very minor scuffles, and tens of millions of peaceful people.
  12. It seems like there were no disruptions during the inauguration.
  13. It's all over now.

When you open your hearts to patriotism, there is no room for prejudice.

This is the great orator you elected, the downfall is complete.

If you want better oration, text ex-President Barack Obama.

  14. The root of our problem is the Statistics we keep. Every other census (10 years), we are asked what is your religion even if you no longer practice it. All those kids that were baptized and then never again saw the inside of a church are considered religious.
  15. Reagan started America down the road to massive debt Bush invaded Iraq and changed the face of America irreparably Trump ...
  16. Actually Wynne did not shut down a single coal plant, and neither did McGuinty. The bulk of them were shut down by Ernie Eves, although I do give credit to Mike Harris for Lakeshore (one of the single good things he did).
  17. In 2015, total Canadian imports from Saudi Arabia were under $2 billion. Yes, I assume the bulk of that was petroleum. An interesting note, the Saint John Irving refinery exports most of its production to the US. I believe less than 20% is destined for Canadian markets.
  18. You know I don't believe in the simplistic idea of a political spectrum.
  19. Except of course it is Algeria and not Saudi Arabia where we used to import most of our oil from, although today I believe we import more from the US. I don't know what we imported from Saudi Arabia, if any, but it is nowhere even close to $12 billion. The left* in this country have been saying we should have a trans-Canadian pipeline long before the right or the oil industry. *left, I use this term because that is your label for me.
  20. Gas power plants are cheaper to build than coal.
  21. http://www.eia.gov/electricity/annual/html/epa_08_04.html
  22. Wrong, the EIA is using real numbers from operating plants over the past 15 years. Hydro has always been the lowest cost, nuclear second. Coal was cheaper than gas until the cost of gas came down. There are not fiction social cost of carbon built into the numbers, they are the real costs - period. I suggest you actually look up the data. There are other numbers associated with building new plants, and yes you might say there are other factors built into them but the operating costs I cited above are 100% real - period.
  23. I didn't see him provide any actual reference, just hearsay. From what I can find the paper written in 2005 by DSS management consultants in section 10.4 on page 44 is where the $3 billion figure is misquoted from. If Mckittrick et. al had any credibility, they would take this report and actually look at what happened 10 years laters instead of the junk they wrote.
  24. Have you read the declarations of succession from Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, and Mississippi where they wanted to maintain slavery? What about more recently (the 40's) where the Confederate flag became the symbol of the 'Dixiecrats' to promote segregation. In '62 it was raised over the Alabama Capitol to protest desegregation. The Confederate Flag is clearly a symbol of racism.
  25. Fire over half a million people, so much for his jobs initiative. Make America Unemployed Again.
