I would support public schools saying the women have the right to choose to wear (or not wear) whatever they want. Canadians do not dictate to others what is right or wrong, good or bad. It is your body, and you have a right to express yourself however you want. It is common practice in Canada to use facial photographs for identification purposes, and sometimes you will be required to prove identity. In contemporary Canadian culture, facial expressions play an important role in communications. If you are testifying before a judge & jury, then they may need to see your facial expressions.

Muslim woman tells judge to go to hell.
?Impact replied to taxme's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I agree totally. There is other information that was not reported above including that Dughmosh is also being charged with leaving Canada for the purpose of committing a crime (April 2016). I am expecting the speculation is closer to the truth, but we need to wait till next spring to see the results of the trial. -

Reagan was the guy that started America on the debt binge: Reagan increased the debt by 186% Bush Sr. increased the debt by 108% (normalized for an 8 year term) Clinton increased the debt by 32% Bush Jr. increased the debt by 101% Obama increased the debt by 68% Hillary was bad, but Trump is a billion times worse. It is entertaining for us Canadians, we don't have to live with the consequences. -

No, I would have gone for one of the other half dozen or more possibilities (depending on what state I theoretically lived in), or else I would go for a write-in candidate if my state allowed it (some states have to have the write-in candidate file paperwork before the election, which is even more confusing). -
I wasn't sure about that (not Jupiter transiting Sun, but Venus transiting Jupiter). The planes of orbit are very close so could there not be a conjunction where they actually crossed? We do see Venus near Jupiter in the sky every now and then, a few weeks back was a perfect example. For that to happen, Jupiter needs to be on the opposite side of the Sun from Earth but Venus can be anywhere in its orbit. That would always put Venus closer to us than Jupiter, so if things were just right could it not transit? Try Nov. 22, 2065 - 7:42am eastern time in you planetarium software. Do you think I will live to be 105?

The "evidence" against Franken is no more damaging than the "evidence" against Trump. If you look at the photograph of Franken, he is obviously playing to the camera. You can see the shadows of his fingers on that 2" thick body armor so he is not touching it let alone the woman that is 2" behind it. It is the visual equivalent of "locker room talk". That being said, I think Franken should resign for it. Trump of course, it is obvious he should resign as well. I would not vote for either of them, but then 62 million Americans have zero morals. Getting back to Roy Moore, he is just as bad as those two, and I am not low enough to vote for him either. -
Do you mean a transit of Venus across the Sun as seen from Jupiter, and what are you expecting to photograph? The other thing I thought you might be talking about is a very close conjunction of Venus and Jupiter, but I can't find any in 2020. There is a Mercury and Jupiter one, and a Mars and Jupiter one but I looked at them and they are still significantly far apart.

One, 2004. I was considering traveling out west for 2012, but life got in the way. I didn't have a scope or filter with me for 2012 either. As I don't expect to be around next time, I have had my fill. It was the amateur astronomers that I thought would get my meaning.

Well we did have 9 people vote for internment camps.

Interesting poll results. We have 14 among our group that want to set up internment camps for 1.3 million people. -

Yes, trying to protect endangered elephants is a bad thing because the black guy did it. I love that Pelosi and Schumer told Trump to stuff it today. Now he has Sarah Huckabee Sanders crying on television that he was snubbed. -
A lot of Johnson's tapes were released a few years ago, and one of the particularly disturbing finds in that Nixon had sabotaged the Paris peace talks for Vietnam. He had told the south Vietnamese through back channels that they should withdraw from the talks and refuse to deal with Johnson, hang on until a Nixon Presidency. Apparently Humphrey was told, but decided that it was too close to the election to accuse the Republicans of treason since he thought he would win anyway.

Canada's Third World Health Care System
?Impact replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes, that is public & private spending on health care. In that case the Americans are the highest spenders at 60% more than Canadians. If you look at public spending only, then the Germans are the highest at 30% more than Canadians. You can also look at per-capita spending which is what I cited earlier. -
Canada's Third World Health Care System
?Impact replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I actually said we spend less public money than all the countries other than one. Some spend significantly more than us. In New Zealand and Switzerland a significant number of people avoid going to a doctor due to cost, and in France a significant number of people fail to follow up with tests and treatment due to cost. Canadians are high on skipping filling a prescription due to cost, but then we take more medication than most other countries other than those in Saskatchewan and BC (maybe I should move). Many Canadians skip dental treatment due to cost, and the Americans and the French have an extremely hard time paying their medical bills. The Americans, French, and Swiss are always bogged down in paperwork and in disputes with their insurance companies over paying medical bills. It is interesting the number of gems in that study that the Ottawa Citizen failed to find. -

Refinancing is not net new debt. If I have a $100k mortgage amortized over 25 years and have a fixed rate, fixed term mortgage. I may need to refinance it 5 years down the line at say $90k, but that doesn't mean I have borrowed another $90k. -

The study you quoted does not address cost, so how are you drawing that conclusion. When I compared public health care dollars spent, only Australia comes in lower. When I compare total (public and private) health care dollars dollars spent then France and the UK are also lower than us. If you look at the study details for France, you will see that they are extremely dissatisfied with their health care system, and they skip a lot of treatments because of cost. I believe there is a lot we can do to improve, but I don't like these broad generalizations that only look at one factor and ignore all the others. One significant factor that always seems to be forgotten when looking at the Europeans, is that private health insurance is heavily regulated and is based on you income not your risk factor.
