  1. They will have to, and we already have some experience with that in the human monitored prototypes on the road today. Breaking rules like speed limits is an interesting question. I doubt that, too many peripheral dependencies. Yes, liability is a big question that still needs to be resolved. If driverless cars become safer, and I have every reason to expect they will on average be significantly safer, then liability insurance will be lower than the human powered version. The question will become how will it be funded. Yes, there will still be a need for a lot of cars. With driverless cars however, ride sharing will be easier and instead of just parking and waiting for the end of your shift the car will become available to others. The net result will be fewer cars overall, but there will still be a lot of idle time in them. The point is that optimization will be much easier, and coordinating things like service intervals will be more efficient. Public transit may also be improved significantly, one of the problems today is that the suburban loop is not cost effective but driverless vehicles will improve that significantly.
  2. It will start on closed corporate properties first, like it has here. The real question is who do you trust more, computers or your drunk neighbour?
  3. Genesis is not part of the New Testament, and therefore not part of the Greek Textus Receptus (Received Text). Yes, many scholars worked on the KJV, Genesis was translated by up to 10 scholars at the First Westminster Company (I am unable to find a record of who at that company worked on what parts). The source material appears to be the Hebrew Rabbinic Bible by Daniel Bomberg (1524/5), but with some passages changed to match the Greek Septuagint and/or Latin Vulgate translations. Your belief in accuracy notwithstanding, you might be interested in reading The Authorized Edition of the English Bible from Cambridge University Press (1884) which discusses in detail the KJV.
  4. Reagan increased the debt by 186% Bush Sr. increased the debt by 108% (normalized for an 8 year term) Clinton increased the debt by 32% Bush Jr. increased the debt by 101% Obama increased the debt by 68% You are right, the past three Republican Presidents didn't match Obama in increasing the debt, they beat him by a long shot.
  5. Read Chapter 10 (10:10 specifically), a lot of history is contained in those two short chapters. There is confusion as to where this tower was located, although somewhere near Al Hasakah in Syria seems to be the most likely although many say it is just south of Mosul in Iraq. Translations are always problematic, especially since ancient written Hebrew only used consonants and vowels would need to be vocalized by the reader. Modern Hebrew (ok, relatively modern but still 1000-1500 years old) has vowels as markers on other letters (all those dots and lines you see in and around letters) but that would not be in any of the ancient scriptures. There is some confusion between Babel and Babylon as they have the same consonants. The ancient Genesis 10:10 was: ותהי ראשית ממלכתו בבל וארך ואכד וכלנה בארץ שנער although modern text would be: וַתְּהִ֨י רֵאשִׁ֤ית מַמְלַכְתֹּו֙ בָּבֶ֔ל וְאֶ֖רֶךְ וְאַכַּ֣ד וְכַלְנֵ֑ה בְּאֶ֖רֶץ שִׁנְעָֽר You will note that the highlighted Babel (בָּבֶ֔ל) has a lot of similarity with Babylon ( בָּבֶל ), take away the modern vowel markers and you have the same written word.
  6. Well Americans know what it is like now.
  7. Yes, that is an interesting story. The tower of Babel was started by Nimord, son of Cush who is the son of Ham, son of Noah. That makes Nimrod the great grandson of Noah, or three generations removed. We started with 3 families (Noah's three sons and their wives) and have enough people to build a tower to the heavens and create the 70 Biblical nations. When God said go forth an multiply, they must have copulated like jackrabbits.

  9. I wouldn't say probably for any individual. There are a lot of Conservatives in Ontario & Quebec, just like there are a lot of Liberals in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
  10. I noticed that as well, but likely if Argus is a subscriber (which of course he would be to read it originally) he wouldn't be aware that was a subscription article. I do like the coverage of the Globe and Mail (regardless of their biases), but not enough to pay what they want. I never bothered even to get their cheap introductory price, including way back when it was for 3 months if I remember properly. There needs to be a middle ground in price and quality, but I have yet to find it.
  11. Everyone's opinions are welcome, they are however just opinions. Supporting evidence is what I base my world view on, they are few and far between. That is what they all say.
  12. Yes, she has been doing that all of my life. I remember listening to her on CBC way back in the 60's, but admit I haven't listened much in recent years. It would be interesting to have a poll on how often people listen to her Christmas Message.
  13. The problem is that civil conversation is far and few between on the Internet. That is the best thing I like about this site, the only problem I have here is the active poster population is very small.
  14. You can go back every year for Obama, or George Bush, Clinton, etc. Only Trump followers believe stories that their dear leader says because.... well because they are.... well, I can't say that either, but you know.
  15. No, that is wrong. I suggest you read the report I linked above.
  16. Food will be unnecessary, the laws of biology, chemistry, and physics will be changed.
  17. Who speaks to himself? And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
  18. Not surprising, it was reported about a year ago that they are paying Comcast, Dish, Charter Communications, etc. in the US for the same thing. This was buried in the declassified intelligence report on Russia's attempt to influence the US election.
  19. Extinct no, but what will be the condition of living and our environment before we smarten up?
  20. What is a being? Yes, Bible believers accept any swill they are fed. I however accept knowledge that is based on empirical evidence subject to the principals of reasoning.
  21. Yes, it all comes down to dollars. It is TAXIs and Uber/Lyft drivers that will be out of work, some billionaire will buy the cars and undercut them by a small percentage.
  22. What is there to criticize for foreigners, you realize they make out better than the American middle class with this tax bill. Of course American billionaires make out the best.
  23. Well it appears that the federal ethics commissioner says that Trudeau did in fact break guidelines here. I expect a lot of political haymaking in the coming days. Will those who attacked Mary Dawson over the past several months apologize to her? The sticking point seems to be that between 1983 and 2013, the only contact Trudeau had with the Aga Khan was at Pierre Trudeau`s funeral. There certainly was a relationship between the families, but contact seemed to be reestablished only after Justin became leader of the Liberal party. What constitutes a friend?
  24. Well at least the author had the sense to put "scientific circles" in quotes. I was going to address the second law of thermodynamics as it has often been quoted by the totally scientific illiterate and accepted by the scientifically ignorant but Goddess beat me to the punch.
  25. Besides using an oxymoron, you made a totally unsubstantiated claim.
