  1. Just out of curiosity, why don't the lighter pilots simply bring some weights with them? Can we not have a $10 solution instead of a $1 billion one?
  2. No, go back and re-read the full statement carefully. You are linking dots that are not there.
  3. So was Sony Betamax, but it got no traction either.
  4. Talking about sources, I have had this argument many times over in the past. I have yet to find one of the 'faithful' actually read the Ontario Health and Physical Education curriculum. The first clue is they call it things like Perhaps we need to be on the same, real, page to begin with.
  5. Yes, and go to a UN building in Geneva or Montreal and they probably switch to French. In Vienna they probably speak German. I'm not sure what they speak in Nairobi. There are many other UN facilities around the world as well, but those are the major ones I am aware of. I understand your suggestion on auxiliary languages, but it has the additional problem of them having almost zero native speakers and very few people who have learned any of them as a second language. Esperanto has been around for well over a century, but has almost zero traction. There are far more people who know Morse code (yes, I know not a language) than Esperanto. Probably the language with the most traction is the simplified core English used for air and marine communications, thought that was far too simple to express anything but the most rudimentary commands and status.
  6. A very nice claim, but 100% false. The UN has six official languages - period. There might be some UN subcommittees that use different working languages, but they are not English in all cases. The General Assembly, and Security Council use all 6 languages as official and working languages. When the UN was established in 1946 it was five official languages (Chinese, French, English, Russian and Spanish) and two working languages (English and French), but over time the other languages became working languages as well, culminating in 1973 when Arabic was added as both an official and working language.
  7. Sorry, mommy says I can't come out to play this evening.
  8. ISIS had as much involvement in Orlando as J. D. Salinger.
  9. Praise me Praise me Praise me Praise me Be good to mommy & daddy Don't kill No sex unless I sanction it Don't steal Don't gossip Don't want more
  10. To be fair, part of the reason fewer police officers are killed is procedure and equipment. The 140 to 27 decline over 40 years is not entirely due to reduced crime, all factors should be considered.
  11. There is not such thing as over-qualified. There is unable to meet wage demands, perception that person will not stay long, afraid they will be after your job due to your insecurities, etc.
  12. According to the Washington Post after analyzing FBI reports on police killings in the United States, 52% of the felonious incidents were from white offenders and 43% were black.
  13. I would be happier if neither were.
  14. The same source as your original statistic probably originated from, the New York Police Department Crime and Enforcement Activity report. In there they have separate categories for White and Hispanic. You can't take a statistic from one source without understanding what is actually reported.
  15. German is simple to read and pronounce, although yes it is difficult to write. English on the other hand is a nightmare. Have you ever read The Chaos by Gerard Nolst Trenité? Read it aloud, or better still get someone with English as a second language to try. Just one of many examples it provides, say: gush, bush, steak, streak, break, bleak.
  16. Again, put things in context. Whites make up only 32.3% of New York city population. Without the context statistics are 100% meaningless.
  17. What about white men between the ages of 15-34? Lets have a direct comparison, or I will call a spade a racist.
  18. Yes, MLK was on the right track. Violence never solves anything. The American Revolution is nothing to be proud of, the building of a nation is. WWII is nothing to be proud of, the rebuilding of Europe and Japan after the war is - that is what built long term peace. The second amendment needs to be repealed, it is the most idiotic piece of legislation ever.
  19. Would you like Freedom Fries with that?
  20. Are you suggesting that if a foreign company wanted to buy General Dynamics Electric Boat company the US government would let it happen without blinking? I guess you are not familiar with the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.
  21. Wow, an act that has been around for 30 years and only once used (in 2008) is a big problem. I suppose that broken traffic light in Flin Flon is also a big problem to foreign investment.
  22. So you believe there once was a God?
  23. I just finished watching his live broadcast from Warsaw, so I am not sure what you are talking about. There was absolutely nothing about being a black activist militant, if you got that then I think the problem is yours and not his. Yes, he is addressing a very difficult subject. Are you suggesting that he hide his head in the sand and ignore it? Where did you see his earlier statement about systemic racism in policing? There is an earlier statement that includes "They are symptomatic of the broader challenges within our criminal justice system, the racial disparities that appear across the system year after year, and the resulting lack of trust that exists between law enforcement and too many of the communities they serve." That is a very different meaning than what you are stating.
