  1. Northern California (north of San Francisco) has more in common with Wyoming than the rest of California. Are you aware of any instances in Canada of the party coming in second place in the popular vote, yet forming government?
  2. While I agree it is not going to happen, just like we saw on Tuesday thing do not always turn out the way we expect. All I was pointing out is if it did happen, I expect you to be a grown up and accept the outcome and not whine.
  3. Did you hear the protesters trying to get the right wing anarchist vandals to stop. The protestors are not the ones causing the problem. On the electoral college, they are free to pick Clinton or anyone else if they so choose. The petition that already has over 3 million signatures is to get the electoral college to restore democracy by respecting the popular vote, and eliminating the unfit to serve Trump. Yes, everyone went into this process knowing the rules, and if they manage to get the electoral college to pick someone other than Trump then I expect no whining from the right wing.
  4. When Trump demoted Christie, and replaced him with Pence he told advisers he wanted to tap Mr. Pence’s Washington experience and contacts to help move the process along. I guess Trump was afraid too many alligators would go down the drain, so he want's Pence to catch a few of them.
  5. Yes, another major war based on false pretences that will destroy the world.
  6. Canada want's the bridge, and will collect toll revenue on it. Mexico doesn't want the wall, and there is nothing in it for them.
  7. Who will pardon Donald Trump for raping a 13 year old girl? I think this conversation is really going off the rails.
  8. You mean like the Republican Senate not accepting Obama's Supreme court appointees for over a year? The checks and balances have been destroyed by the Tea Party infiltrators. Time to appoint a special prosecutor to jail them.
  9. Agreed, but that was the point I was trying to make. It is not the partisans that Trump was after, he was trying to keep the undecided vote away.
  10. What if you were an undecided, for that is the group that sways the election.
  11. That is a good question. I think there are many reasons, but the never ending hate and lies spread by team Trump were certainly front and centre there as well.
  12. Not all the public events are anti-trump. There is a victory parade being organized in North Carolina for December 3rd by the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan!. They are happy that Trump will restore America to a white Christian nation.
  13. tIf his transition team is any indication of the kind of people we will see in cabinet, then I would say the alligaors are taking over the swamp. It seems that Trump wants corporate lobbyists to run the government. He picked Jeffrey Eisenach to set up the FCC, who better than the guy that lobbied for Verizon and other telcos. To set up the Department of Agriculture we have Michael Torrey, a lobbyist for the American Beverage Association and Dean Foods. For his "energy independence" we get Michael Catanzaro who lobbies for Devon Energy and Encana. The elites have been given the keys to the USA, thank you Trump supporters.
  14. I don't see them either.
  15. We got a very mature response from the President elect: Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!
  16. Given the pre-election rhetoric of the President elect on that very same subject, this is hardly surprising.
  17. Good point, Trump should encourage companies to keep the pipeline and tanker terminal jobs in Canada.
  18. The day after the 2008 election, graffiti stating "Shoot Obama" and "Kill That N-----" appeared at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. Concerning the electoral college system, in the run-up to the election 538 was consistently showing the probability of Trump losing the popular vote and winning the electoral college was 20 times that of Clinton doing the same thing, and guess what - that is exactly what happened.
  19. The interesting thing now, is we have a President (elect) that supports Wikileaks and calls Assange a hero. I expect that to be thrown in his face the first time a leak comes out during his tenure.
  20. Well done, it is certainly a tangled web.
  21. It is still happening with Obama, and folks like you complain about Trudeau at least 15 times a day. God Trump got into the race by his birther protests. Sore losers is a part of life.
  22. I don't understand what does cost of servicing the debt have to do with the debt:GDP ratio? I assume that is where you got the 32% from, but the cost to service the debt is based on the interest rates we are paying. Many of us have mortgages that are higher than our annual salary (personal GDP if you will), so we have personal debt:income ratios way about 100%, but the cost to service that debt is obviously much lower. I has been falling for the past several years as old bonds expire and are renewed at current lower rates. There are still several outstanding that are significantly higher than todays cost of borrowing, but what the situation will be a year or five years from now is unknown. Everyone has a different view of what the spending priorities should be. What you consider unnecessary, others may consider vital. The government is tasked with considering everyones opinions, and building compromise. Society cannot function without compromise.
  23. When was that? I know he responded to a question about Trump with: "I don't think it comes as a surprise to anyone that I stand firmly against the politics of division, the politics of fear, the politics of intolerance or hateful rhetoric". Is that what you are talking about? That is hardly like Trump calling Trudeau "Canada's worst President"
  24. Have you followed what happened with Point Rosee near Port aux Basques?
