RE: The Minister of Agriculture & Agri-Food
?Impact replied to SunnysideTroll's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Deal with irrational fears by education, not obfuscation. The expensive campaign by the GMO companies to hide what they are doing is a larger contributor to fear than anything. With proper and practical labeling we are not pandering to irrational fears, we are providing facts upon which rational decisions can be based. The irrational fear is that putting the proper and practical label on the food item is somehow going to cause civilization to crumble before us, lets not pander to that irrational fear. -

Governments can create legislation, third party organizations cannot. I want to know what I am consuming, and the government works for me. The food companies are responsible for complying with the regulation. That is the way it should work, that is the way it always has worked (in modern times), that is the way it will work. -

Absolutely, more information is better. The fact of the matter is however that the GMO companies demand payment and therefore the information is readily available. It is next to impossible to trace back all seed stock from selective breeding programs 100 years ago but it is 100% possible to identify GMO food because the lawyers for the GMO companies demand that already. -
The Canadian population is essentially doubling every 60-70 years, are you suggesting that suddenly that will change?

Companies like Monsato are forcing themselves into the payment chain for the food I am eating, not the process but the food itself. Why are you so intent on obfuscating that fact. Did you high priestess demand that the plebs be kept ignorant? Your argument about food prices is completely irrational. If the demand for non-GMO foods decreases because of labeling then they will be forced by competitive pressures to decrease their prices. The genetically modified food you crave will be cheaper. -

You are the one promoting ignorance, that is the mark of a religion. I certainly expect when picking fresh produce to know what kind of potato, apple, or tomato I am buying. Yes, when I buy processed food like ketchup the religious people like you have managed to keep details off the label and only listed tomato. That should change. I don't subscribe to your religion. -
That is like saying who would I prefer to rape me.

I want full disclosure, plain and simple. I am not obsessed with GMOs, your are. I am simply stating that people need to be informed and promoting ignorance is a problem. Can you quote a single time I had expressed fears (irrational or not) about GMOs? I want the truth, and you want ignorance. You want to pull the wool over peoples eyes. -

Religion is about promoting ignorance, exactly what you are trying to do. Why should my request for full disclosure of truth be ignored so you can practice your religion? Why do you want to promote ignorance to enrich your church? -
Clinton and Obama won according to the electoral college (no rules) and popular vote. Trump and Bush won according to the electoral college (no rules) and lost the popular vote. Trump has been ripping off taxpayers for decades. Writing off other peoples money he lost as his own. Trump has ripped off the taxpayer hundreds of millions of dollars, he is the biggest their of taxpayer money in modern history.

Trump ran to stroke his ego, and the lemmings bought his marketing slogan. -

My religion is truth. Your religion is obfuscation. Why should your religion be given preference over mine? -

Wrong, completely wrong. Labelling serves to inform, not obfuscate like the marketeers want to pull the wool over the lemmings eyes. Government need to force the GMO marketeers to inform the public about their activities. Why do you want the public to remain ignorant? -

This is a total non-issue, but then Conservatives have made it an issue every time a non-Conservative politician does anything but sit alone in his office pretending to work. -

What about نیّة? conservatives are indoctrinated in the local bar So what should we do about Donald Trump and his five children? Still afraid of a piece of clothing? You know, that necktie you wear has been symbolic of many things over the years: genteel birth, social rank, coming of age, blind following of tradition and, of course, male sexuality.
