Obama's Reponse To Tough Questions From Press Corps

I used We, because that was Obama's campaign slogan, "change WE need." I'm sorry that you took it so literally. -
Obama's Reponse To Tough Questions From Press Corps
Shady replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
The problem is, that it's not his job to tell journalists how to do their jobs. And it's very arrogant and condescending for him to cut someone off, and tell them to ask a different question. Asking questions is one of the only ways we have to hold politician's feet to the fire. My response to him, if I was the reporter, would have been "Sir, please don't tell me how to do my job." -
Al Franken is Challenging This Ballot
Shady replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Well, your gambling website InTrade disagrees. Looks like Coleman is up 8. And what an amazing source you site. A story that states Franken "might" win. And their source? The New Republic. A leftwing website. Of course Franken might win. And tomorrow, I might win the lottery. -

Where do you get that from? Other than the Franken campaign of course. -
Al Franken is Challenging This Ballot
Shady replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It's already been resolved. Twice. Al Franken just can't accept that he lost the election. Twice. And no, Norm Coleman didn't have a bad day. Nothing's changed. Coleman's ahead, Franken's behind, with the Minnesota Secretary of State a few days away from declaring Norm Coleman the winner, despite what any gambler's website may think. However, things don't look good for the Franken campaign. They've been reduced to releasing pathetic, propaganda videos via . -

Nope. I've never ever sourced intrade in any of my posts. Nor will I ever reference Las Vegas odds makers either. Coleman can drop to 0, but as long as he leads in votes, it really doesn't matter. He won the election on Nov 4th. And he won the manditory recount. They both have the same number of disputed ballots, so unless Franken has some crazy scheme of counting them, he's done like dinner. On second thought, maybe the intrade odds aren't so much that Coleman will lose, but that Franken will find a way to steal an election, he's lost twice. -

Who the hell bets money on political elections? Answer, pretty much only degenerate gamblers. Once again I'll state, actual votes cast for a candidate trumps odds on websites and gamblers. -

LOL, I don't look at the odds from intrade, I look at the fact that Norm Coleman received more votes on election day, and after a full recount still received more votes. Website odds aren't quite as important as actual votes and electoral results. Sorry. My apologies, there is one website that is somewhat significant. Minnesota Secretary Of State -

Auto industry bailout plan dies in the Senate
Shady replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
LOL, apparently that's exactly what she's saying. And apparently firing GM's CEO and saving $9.3 million will cover the loss of $38 billion from the 2007 fiscal year. Who knew? And to top that, GM and Toyota sold about the same number of cars in '07. Yet Toyota posted a $17 billion dollar profit, while GM was in the red at almost $40 billion. Let's all face it. The UAW destroyed the domestic car industry by bleeding their respective companies dry. And now, there's no more water in the well. Sure some of the CEO's need to go. But so do all the union leaders. How about a union Czar instead of a proposed car Czar? To oversee that union's don't destroy the industries their working for. -
Auto industry bailout plan dies in the Senate
Shady replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It's not necessarily their salaries, but the benefits that are crippling GM, Ford, and Chrysler. And in the real world, one's salary is dependant on the type of profit one earns in their respective industry. If a business is losing billions of dollars, than sometimes even $30 an hour, is still too high to be supported. It's simple math, and simple economics. -

That simply isn't true. And the answer to the question as to why the UAW needs to take a pay cut, is because they're the ones looking to the government for a multi-billion dollar bailout, not Toyota. Toyota spends $49 per labour hour while GM spends $71. You do the math. There's a reason why "the big 3" are in massive troubles, while other automakers are thriving. Case in point: General Motors is the largest private purchaser of Viagra in the world Lifestyle drugs -- chiefly Viagra -- are costing General Motors $17 million dollars a year and the cost is passed along to car, truck and SUV consumers. The blue pill is covered under GM's labor agreement with United Auto Workers, as well as benefit plans for salaried employees. Link -
Illinois governor taken into custody
Shady replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Apparently Rahm Emanuel has been identified as the Obama advisor on the FBI Blagojevich recordings. I saw it on the MSNBC crawl this morning, but I haven't seen a link yet. -

Oh, and I gotta be the first one to say it! This is not the Rod Blagojevich that I knew! -
Illinois governor taken into custody
Shady replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
America just elected a President who sprouted out of the most corrupt political environment in the country. How is it possible Obama is untouched from all of this? You know who Gov. Blagojevich has close associations with, and a working relationship? Tony Rezko. Does the name ring a bell? The same Tony Rezko in which Barack Obama is associated with, and also has a working relationship. Not only that, but Obama and Emanuel (Obama's Cheif Of Staff) both worked as top political advisors to Blagojevich's 2002 run for state office. Emanuel told the New Yorker earlier this year that he and Obama "participated in a small group that met weekly when Rod was running for governor. We basically laid out the general election, Barack and I and these two." And late last month, David Axelrod appeared on television and commented that "I know he's (Obama) talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them." ABC News I think it's pretty obvious that there's much more to this story. But only time will tell. -
Bush still just doesn't get it

Please, by all means, translate the unbelievableness of his statement. For us poor pathetic serfs. -

I also don't see the issue of his statement. Seems pretty accurate to me. Maybe it's one of those deals where if you play it backwards, like an old Beatles record (so I've been told), it reveals some hidden message that's horrible and terrifying. -
Parliament lost confidence, how about you?
Shady replied to cybercoma's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
When are you going to admit that your absurd assertion that the Bloc is a right of centre party, is about as wrong as one can be. -

Duceppe subscribed to militant Maoist ideology well into his thrities. So, nice try. -

So Gilles Duceppe held membership in the Workers' Communist Party of Canada, but the Bloc is actually right of centre? Nice try. -
Exactly! What he's talking about is pure urban legend, and nothing more.

No lying please, Harper signed no such deals. And your precious coalition is over. There will be no coup this year.
