  1. I guess it's safe to say the 9 point lead you posted a few days ago was definitely an outlier. Or it evaporated in record time. Maybe Corzine needs to spend some more money on campaign ads of fat jokes.
  2. Nope. I want them in jail too. But it seems like Manitoba is the only province with that problem.
  3. Well, I'm not complaining about overcroweded Ontario prisons, am I? And the money Ontario recieves is a small drop in the bucket compared to the money Onatrio's been giving away over the last several decades. Kind of like somebody giving you $5 back after you've continously lent them thousands.
  4. Harris was a happy medium. In fact, people liked what his government did so much, they brought them back for a second majority. Who cares whether there's riots or protests. When changes are made, that people don't like, riots and protests will take place. Protesting is a fundamental freedom, and part of democracy. If you want a lack of protest, move to North Korea. You'll love it there. No riots. No protests. None at all. Ever. See the Harris government.
  5. Latest poll, Christie up by 2! General Election Matchup (Daggett Included) Christie ® 41 (+4 from last poll, 9/28-10/5) Corzine (D) 39 (+1) Daggett (I) 14 (-3) Don't Know 3 (-3) RCP
  6. LOL, you're trying to blame Harper for the gun registry? It was a Liberal party idea, implemented by the Liberal paty. Next thing I'll hear is that Harper's also to blame for the Liberal sponsorship scandal.
  7. What are you talking about? DBRS Downgrades Province of Ontario to AA (low) and R-1 (middle) on Continued Fiscal Erosion DBRS has downgraded the long-term rating of the Province of Ontario (the Province or Ontario) to AA (low) from AA as a result of the considerable erosion reported today in the Province’s already depressed debt and fiscal outlooks. Link
  8. Sounds like a provincially created problem. You guys gotta learn to take care of your own backyard. Especially seeing as though Manitoba recieves billions of dollars in aid from the rest of us.
  9. I disagree with your premise. You're jumping to conclusions because you don't like the very idea of cracking down on parole for non-violent offenders. Just because legislation is proposed, doesn't mean it takes effect right away. Like I've already said. I'm sure the Conservative government will take into consideration the expected costs much more than the Liberal's did with their 2 billion-dollar suppose tobe 2 million-dollar gun registry.
  10. More like where's Mike Harris when you need him? Ontario just lost it's AAA credit rating, which had been restored under Premier Harris. Lower taxes, strong economy, paying down debt, but at the same time, record funding of healthcare. Life was good.
  11. Not according to your link. It was "partly" based on overcroweded conditions.
  12. There will be a budget before a shovel hits the ground. But one can't know the cost until several things have been decided. Like where to build, how big to build, etc.
  13. Sure. But it's hard to imagine the building of a prison ending up 1000 times over budget. I mean, the Liberal's told us that the gun registry would only cost around 2 million dollars. And well, 2 billion dollars later, we recieved the actual bill. That must be a world record.
  14. Yeah, it's too bad the Liberal's didn't take that into consideration before their multi-billion dollar boondoggle. I wonder how many prisons could have been built with several billion dollars?
  15. Exactly. The Liberal's gun registry comes to mind.
  16. I didn't realize the NDP were such big fans of astroturf.
  17. And so does the regular flu.
  18. Oh, you mean the riot that was "in part" due to overcrowded prisons? Any why was the prison overcrowded? Did just proposing a change in legislation fill the prison? Maybe the fact that prisons are overcrowded means more need to be built regardless of any new law. I didn't ask you about deficits. I ask you about your premise, that prison spending was going to crowd out healthcare spending. Please tell us how much money we spend on jailing 30,000+ inmates, versus providing healthcare for 30 million plus citizens.
  19. Why are you referencing another country? Site some examples in Canada. California isn't a Canadian jurisdiction. Do the math. The cost of 30,000 people in prison vs the cost of healthcare for 30 million citizens.
  20. Either do you. I'm thinking that you just really like to fearmonger. According to the World Health Organization, fewer than 5,000 people have died around the globe from this variant of swine flu. In any normal year, influenza causes between 250,000 and 500,000 deaths worldwide. In the Southern Hemisphere, the winter flu season is now over. In spite of dire predictions, only 185 people died from swine flu in Australia – considerably fewer than the roughly 3,000 who succumb to seasonal influenza in that country each year. Last week, U.S. President Barack Obama declared swine flu a national emergency after about 1,000 Americans died. Yet according to the Centers for Disease Control, roughly 50,000 Americans die every year from seasonal flu – without any politician paying much attention. The Star Consider H1N1 as this years bird flu, or Y2K. More people will die of hype, than of the actual disease.
  21. Which jurisdictions? Be specific. But it's probably not worth discussing this issue with you, if you're so obtuse as to think incarcerating 30 - 40 thousand people costs more than providing healthcare for 30 - 40 million people.
  22. Oh, and Dobbin's pseudo-concern over such a small expense when it comes to the overall federal budget is laughable.
  23. That's complete nonsense. Healthcare consumes, and will consume that vast majority of government operations. Besides, one could probably build a decent prison with the eqivalent amount of money Liberal's stole in adscam.
  24. Yep, he recieved 150 years, in the United States. And yes, there's violence and harm. Non-violent criminals can do great harm, hence the proposed changes in the law.
  25. Damn straight. Like the Bernie Madoff's of the world.
