Remember when Harper was PM? Gas was cheap, Canadian dollar on par with the American dollar. Balanced budgets and surpluses. Low unemployment. Low inflation. Sensible immigration policy. Sensible environmental policy. Sensible foreign policy. Paid down debt and on pace to be completely debt free by 2030-something.

Gas prices in Ontario were mid 90s in 2007. They were mid 90s in 2010. Right now demand is high, Trudeau has done everything he can to limit supply and he’s put two separate carbon taxes on top of that. And you wonder why Canada needs the dollar to be much lower? Stop defending terrible policies that hurt the middle class.

A lower dollar helps make Canadian exports more competitive.
BTW high oil prices usually result in a higher dollar. Can't have it both ways.

Lower dollar reduces purchasing power and makes Canadians poorer. Our dollar historically followed oil prices but so much has been done to stifle the industry and restrict exports, that's no longer true.
