  1. What problems, re: Electricity generation do we have no pray-tell? I personally think re-investment in Nuclear would be a smart movie. Putting your head in the sand regarding climate change is ultimate useful idiot move.
  2. ? I accept your surrender. Don't actually present a clear argument, just throw out insults.
  3. A country, like Venezuela, who solely depends on oil for their revenue are at the mercy of prices. The Saudis boosted production and dropped the prices to elbow the Tar Sands out of the market because it's only profitable at a certain price. Energy independence is one thing, but the global price is another. No one here is importing oil from Russia, but because much of Europe does, that's what effing up Oil Prices. AND Oil companies refuse to boost production because they're enjoying all the profits without having to actually ramp up production. Blaming this on environmentalism is serving as being a useful idiot for OPEC and large Oil companies.
  4. This shows your inability to converse on topics without descending into immature rhetoric. Even if 100% of Canadian power was generated with Natural Gas, it would still be better than Coal.
  5. The F1 cars are Hybrid and they don't refuel mid-race like they used to. I'm not sure what Vettel did has anything to do with EVs. The Tar Sands are a particularly dirty way of extracting Oil.
  6. It's the Russians who started this war. So Keystone is causing Global Oil Prices to surge? I find that hard to believe. Again, this isn't a US or Canada only problem.
  7. It still pales in comparison to OPEC. It's a cartel. They're controlling global prices more than any Carbon Tax or Pipeline.
  8. Ontario's done well without it. In fact only a small percentage of electricity in Canada is generated with Coal.
  9. You do know the Gas price thing is global and there's a Cartel of Oil producing nations that influences prices right?
  10. Burning Coal is not the most evolved form of energy. Even if you don't believe CO2 from buring fossil fuels is contributing to climate change, it's still extraordinarily dirty. Air pollution is something you can actually see. So yeah, not using it is a sign or progress. So it moving away from the inefficient ICE.
  11. Talk to the Oil companies about that.
  12. The main fallacy in his analogy that people who opt for EVs MUST required a comparable range to an ICU vehicle. A lower range is perfectly acceptable to many EV owners who use their vehicle for local commuting. With the price of Gasoline nowadays, I'm sure many people will opt for having to stop at DC fast chargers every 90 minutes or so vs paying $2/litre on gas for road trips. Developed nations are quickly moving away from dirty coal generating electricity. And even if the EV used electricity generating coal, they are so much more efficient that they're using a fraction of energy to an ICE vehicle.
  13. Well nothing is Zero Emissions. Everything we do has a carbon cost. But if everyone drove EVs, Air pollution would be much less. EVs don't belch Carbon Monoxide.
  14. The Great Replacement Theory is Racist. Full Stop. There's nothing particularly special about being white. Europeans had geographical advantages and subdued other cultures through colonialism. This is why "White" countries tend to be richer. There are no particularly successful places on Earth, currently, that don't embrace a Globalized approach. That means accepting people from other countries amongst your ranks, and intermarrying is a likely outcome. It does not make the country worse.
  15. AFIK most taxes on Gas are fixed. Meaning they don't go up when the price goes up, they're flat on a Litre of gas. HST/GST is charged on the final total, so that's variable but the Carbon and Excise taxes are fixed. The Carbon Tax goes up annually, but it's still just an incremental increase. 2 cents/litre this year, I believe. This crisis is almost exclusively profit taking by the Oil companies. They haven't ramped up production to meet demand as we emerge from the pandemic. They're quite happy making huge profits without the overhead of additional drilling and refining. The only thing that will change their tune is an appreciable drop in demand. Which a recession will do nicely. People may need to find alternatives or, like me, deciding to use an Electric vehicle for a vast majority of my private travel.
  16. It's not the people in their 50's, it's people in their 20's and 30's that have no hope to enter the market. . . without help from mommy and daddy. Low interest rates and lack of workplace pensions have also led an eroded ability to grow wealth through savings.
  17. Also, the two fringe Right Parties "New Blue" and the "Ontario" party didn't sniff any electoral success. An independent did win in a rural riding, she wasn't selected for PCs so she ran Independent and not with one of these crazies party.
  18. Dofo in a blowout. Liberals gain one seat and their leader is defeated. Both the Liberals and NDP lose their leader.
  19. What a Blowout! Dofo given a resounding new mandate in Ontario.

It would be interesting to see the vote turnout vs expected for each party to test your theory, Boges.

I wanted to vote against Ford, but there was no other name on the ballot Iwas willing to attest to. So I stayed home.

  20. It's pre-screening. It happens all the time. Ei those forms you fill out on the way home. Showing all your vax papers could even further delay entry which is currently a problem seen now at airports due to staffing issues at security checkpoints.
  21. You can return. You'll just be asked to quarantine. I do agree it's about time we do away with all this, you can catch COVID with or without the vaccine.
  22. I can imagine you being pissed at having to fill out those paper immigration forms you get on return flights too eh? You don't have to fill it out when leaving. You have to fill it out upon return. Many countries have similar pre-screening. The sun destination I recently went to actually forced me to purchase a COVID insurance policy. The App is much better than having to show your Vaccine forms when doing Customs and Immigration.
  23. Saw it on the Weekend. Excellent movie.
  24. Not sure if this is how it works in the real world. . . but in Breaking Bad they had to go to several stores to get enough drugs to make a batch. Because stores wouldn't sell them all at once. https://www.healthline.com/health/allergies/sudafed#restrictions
