  1. Made Official Today. States can Ban Abortion. I think the cascading effects of this will be severe.
  2. BTW the situation in Europe highlights that these Gas Prices aren't the fault of Biden or Trudeau. European reliance on Russian gas is problem when they feel they can invade Western-style democracies with impunity.
  3. It's Germany's own fault for banning Nuclear and depending on fuel from a political rival, Russia.
  4. The government wants to reduce the amount of Plastic we use. And it's more certainly something they should concern themselves with, as they are the ones that deal with collection, recycling and clean-up.
  5. Ever been to Costco? Walmart lately? I'm sure retailers would be just fine not selling Grocery bags for 5 cents and instead selling cloth bags at a much higher markup. It's up to the government to clean all this plastic up, or collect it for recycling, so it is in the governments purview to regulate this.
  6. The issue has to do with Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Not any of the crap you're babbling about.
  7. It appears those provinces are mailing their own decisions regarding coal.
  8. Is that something that regularly happens in Lethbridge? Salt of the Earth people I reckon.
  9. And BC, and Quebec, and PEI and Manitoba and Newfoundland. So who is Canadian? Only those that embrace Coal? Sounds like an awful place to visit. Is that part of your tourism strategy?
  10. I imagine Nationalist looking for Kittens to punch.
  11. The replacement is LNG, haven't you been paying attention? Sure thing skip ?
  12. They all have strategies to move off of Coal. Does that piss you off? I don't particularly think you are the arbiter of what a Canadian is.
  13. Again with the Ad Hominem. Only four provinces still use Coal And they all have strategies to mostly move off of Coal within the decade. https://www.cer-rec.gc.ca/en/data-analysis/energy-markets/market-snapshots/2020/market-snapshot-canadas-retiring-coal-fired-power-plants-will-be-replaced-renewable-low-carbon-energy-sources.html So you're only four of 6! Dingle-Balls!
  14. Well that's what this thread is about. And if you own a Single family home, you can easily get infrastructure How is Ontario suffering from moving away from Coal?
  15. Yeah but Wood fibres are actually renewable and much easier to recycle. It's also far more compostable should it not be recycled.
  16. Ontario is already there. Only backwater Prairie provinces and New Brunswick will use Coal. This has nothing to do with Infrastructure for EVs BTW. I'll assume you're not fully educated on how EVs work to comment.
  17. Those grid issues are a uniquely US problem. They fail to properly invest in infrastructure. Because FREEDOM!!!! See Texas' Blackout last year. There was ample warning that the grid was incapable of dealing with cold. Well guess what happened. No, but far less. There are drawbacks to all forms of energy. I think we should push forward with LNG investment. But the Tar Sands are a dirty an inefficient source of energy. Hydro is excellent in Canada and Nuclear should also be a realistic option. One that can easily be killed by OPEC nations playing with pricing, if they choose.
  18. In coastal areas plastic is an issue.
  19. You really have no evidence to base your doomsday theories. Other than in far remote areas, please cite areas in Canada that have big problems generating power. I've also noted that Canada's grid is quite clean already. Most auto-makers are already pledging to move towards an electrified future. So it's not just governments. Also, you're in denial but it's not Carbon taxes that's causing the prices we're seeing now. It's profit taking by the Oil companies. You don't accept it because you're blinded by hate for any form of governments moving the public in a certain direction. Why should polluting be free?
  20. Those who only use ad hominem attacks to make a point show their relatively limited mental capacity. No one is claiming that we have the ability to switch to renewables or less harmful Fossil Fuels immediately. But you seem to take the position that until we can completely solve the problem, nothing should be done. Lots of investment is being made in cleaner and cleaner forms of fuel. What Right-Wingers don't seem to grasp is that governments play a role in this too. The transition to EVs are happening. Between 2020-2022 the growth of EVs has exploded. And that will only continue because people, like me, hate having to pay for such a volatile thing like gasoline. Without government help, there wouldn't be a space program. Even absurdly wealthy billionaires can only fun rudimentary space operations.
  21. I don't you know that for sure. You're just making value judgements on addicts. Again, why is an illicit drug like Heroine different from other addictive products like Gambling, Alcohol and Tobacco?
  22. It seems Oil and Gas companies are raking in huge profits right now. But I'm sure the appreciate your concern for them.
  23. I'm not sure you grasp the term decriminalization. It doesn't mean legalization, it means that possession and use is no longer a criminal offence that will land someone in prison.
