  1. The Great Tom Brady is 0-2 again Eli Manning in Super Bowls. Big mistakes by the Pats down the stretch. How does Wes Welker miss that play at the Giants 20? That INT Brady threw was Brutal. Gronk almost had that Hail Mary. I bet Bradshaw would have been seen as a goat had the Pats won because he failed to kneel at the one when Belicheat told everyone to let him in.
  2. Wow they made a deal. http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1126534--city-and-outside-workers-reach-tentative-agreement?bn=1
  3. One would hope they'll get a decent package as well. I seriously doubt that, unless they have some specialized trade skills, they'd get similar paying jobs. In Ontario anyway.
  4. There's a difference between giving back a few dollars an hour and a few of the generous bennies you were used to and cutting your salary in half. The morale for even the best workers would have been horrible.
  5. I never said the Ravens were better. But they came within a Lee Evans drop from winning the game. Tom Brady even said he played very poorly that game, no wait he said he "sucked". Sure it's more damning to the Ravens that they blew the game and the Giants did need OT and two very bad Special Teams plays to beat the Niners. As I said the game should be close but I think it's a very good match up for the Giants against the Patriots. Another factoid I'm sure was mentioned at some point on FO.com; The Ravens were the first team the 2011 Pats beat with a winning (regular season only) record.
  6. Are we still debating whether the Jack Layton death letter was in poor taste or not? http://www.straferight.com/photopost/data/500/medium/double-facepalm.jpg
  7. If statistics were the most important benchmark for great QB's then where do you put someone like Dan Marino in comparison to Eli? I never said Eli would have a better legacy than Peyton if he won tomorrow but it would be a lot closer. Especially if Peyton can't re-gain his greatness due to this neck problem he has suffered from this past year. When you think of the teams Peyton has brought into the playoffs and failed to even make it to the Super Bowl let alone win it. In the one season Peyton did win a title he benefited from an immense meltdown by the Patriots that year and played a Bears team that had a QB that recently had to fight for a starting job with something called John Beck in Washington. There has to be intangibles that stats don't show when you consider legacy. Eli might have suffered from some average regular seasons but he's shown to be a terrific playoff QB.
  8. Actually I'm laughing at the idea of a Re-deployment provision. (see the Toronto Labour situation) I made that post before I realized what was being proposed. You can't expect people making $34/hour which I do think is a bloated wage to go down to $16. I don't blame the union for not bending to these demands. It's clear CAT's motive was to close the plant in the first place.
  9. It's interesting, when you consider how much the prices of products have dropped in recent years. You can make a decent living on a lot less. It's a lot to have a decent life in the US as opposed to Canada.
  10. Probably by paying their workers $16/hour. $16/hour in Indiana where I read the work for this plant is going is a livable wage. Check how much real estate is in that state. However I do understand that a 50% wage cut isn't something ideal for the Union to bend to. I can see that they'd rather lose those jobs than allow their members to work for wages reduced to that extent.
  11. Apparently these workers made $34/hour. In London, Ontario that pretty close to rich. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/politics/article/1125718--caterpillar-closes-electro-motive-plant-in-london Companies certainly don't need Unions.
  12. Well I think we've moved beyond the idea that any job is sacrosanct to be outsourced. My Nokia phone was made in Mexico. Is that any better? At this point aren't you surprised to find a product that was actually made in Canada or the USA?
  13. What's a livable wage? Were these workers being offered unlivable wages by the CAT? Saskatchewan has a boom because of natural resources. Too bad God didn't bless Ontario with Potash, Natural Gas or Tar Sands.
  14. Not really. http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1125812--city-of-toronto-s-threatening-final-offer-rejected-by-union?bn=1 It appears what the City has done is to dictate terms so if the workers will be forced to accept terms or they'll have to strike. I'm not a labour lawyer so I don't even know if this tactic is legal. Should be very interesting to see how this story develops. BTW if anyone remembers the 2009 Strike this is pretty much what Ferguson did to David Miller. He said if a deal wasn't met by a certain Sunday deadline he'd leave the table. David Miller folded like a cheap tent. It's kind of fresh of him calling this a bully tactic.
  15. Well even then, if your job can be done cheaper in Southeast Asia your job isn't safe. It's a tough world out there. The realities of the middle-class are changing and adaptations have to be made.
  16. I'm sure those Union members are thrilled with the CAW. I wonder if Electro-motive has a "Re-deployment" provision.
  17. Looks like there's going to be a work stoppage. http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1125812--city-of-toronto-s-threatening-final-offer-rejected-by-union?bn=1
  18. I don't have evidence either way. But then again CTV is a privately owned company so they can keep the wages of their employees private.
  19. It's sort of like saying Person A and Person B can both write off dependents on their taxes but Person B can also write off their mortgage and car loans. Person A cant. When Person A protests, Person B says but you can write off your dependents. The government grants organizations like Sun Media applies for are open to anyone. The 1.1 Billion the CBC gets is set aside only for them. Now if it can be proven that the CBC only uses that 1.1 bil on preserving Canadian heritage and stuff and the rest of their operations are privately funded, I'd have no problem with that but the CBC goes to great lengths to keep how they spend the government money they receive private.
  20. You don't see the problem with a defacto government organization having 730 people on the Sunshine list? I'm sure the private companies they compete with don't have anywhere close to that many people making 6-figures.
  21. So it's a case of No News is Bad News? CBC Exec: We need to raise some awareness to our French Website. I know lets buy a French Softcore Pron program and it'll get those fascists at Sun Media all pissed off and the ad revenue will just start rolling it.
  22. I guess we're working on a different definition of "porn". It's certainly Soft-core porn at the very least. http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Microgalleries/2012/02/01/19326331.html?&pic=2 Those are some racy pics. The CBC has bowed to pressure a bit by only allowing the link to the show to be visible from midnight-4am. I guess the point that's being made here is why is the CBC buying a program like this? It's not even Can Con.
  23. According to the reporter he said "How are the Sunshine girls" Which is obviously a false comparison because the Sunshine girls aren't having sex and public money isn't put towards printing those photos. Ezra Levant doesn't like James Moore very much.
  24. How so? Dude's name is Aaron Schatz http://www.footballoutsiders.com/author/aaron-schatz The show is on in the afternoon on TSN and ESPN so I'm sure some people have seen it. You should be happy, FO's gone Mainstream. BTW all I'm saying is it seems FO has a hard-on for the Golden Boy. I think when you consider the Giants body of work in the playoffs, what happened when the met in the regular season and the fact the Pats really should have lost to the Ravens, oh and the teams Eli has beaten, I have to pick the Giants. One argument against the Giants is they seem to do poorly against 2 TE sets. So it appears the health of Gronk is of utmost importance. Should be a good game.
