That's the thing. 9 months after, how is it possible to substantiate these claims? If you really went to a polling station that a robocall directed to you and as a result you didn't vote (first of all you're an idiot for listening to the robocall) wouldn't you be pissed? Wouldn't you take action immediately? 9 months after these 31,000 calls are rather irrelevant. They actually just prove to muddy the waters a lot. Which is exactly what the opposition wants, to drag this out as long as possible.

Public Inquiries never do anything. Even Gomery really didn't tell us much we didn't already know. I remember the final Gomery report came a few days after the Liberals were turfed. They had a public inquiry into a PM that had been out of office since 1993 and his dealings with a German criminal WTF did that prove?

The truth is, as much as people bitch about this system, this is the best of a bunch of shitty systems. In 2007 Ontario had an electoral reform referendum My link It was a mixed system where you had your regional representatives and you had extra seats that reflected the popular vote. The motion was defeated by a 63% majority. Not a single area in Ontario came close to supporting it.

A Rally for what? There's an investigation ongoing. I can imagine the meltdown we'll have on our hands if EC and the RCMP don't find anything of any substance behind these claims. It'll be like 9/11 truthers, nothing will convince them that the Conservatives didn't cheat.

If that was the case then people wouldn't take a sick day unless they had to. Unless I'm very sick I usually come into work(I have an office job so it's not incredibly taxing on my body) and make sure my absence wouldn't ruin my co-workers day before I ask to take the rest of the day off. That's usually when I have a very bad cold. I had a minor case of the Flu a few years back but it was during the H1N1 hysteria and one of the ladies I was working with was pregnant so I took two days off with no problems. -
12.4 million ad campaign for Flahertys budget
Boges replied to olpfan1's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Cutting the GST passed the minority parliament. The rest of those things were brought to the public in the 2011 campaign. What happened? -
I suppose this is good news. He was never Burke's guy.

12.4 million ad campaign for Flahertys budget
Boges replied to olpfan1's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No actually in 2008 the CPC wanted to keep the budget balanced as long as it could but the 3 other parties wanted a budget with increased spending passed so the threatened to take power. Now perhaps the opposition parties were right, but you can't blame the deficit on the CPC. They were a minority government. -
What I heard speculated on Sun News is that these 31,000 complaints that have suddenly appeared out of the blue in the past week will muddy the water so much that EC won't be able to get to the bottom of the problem to the oppositions satisfaction. Therefore an inquiry has to be called.

That's a problem "in the real world". I've had co-workers that call in sick because their kids are sick. It can become a problem, but what are you going to do? What I am saying is that having set number of sick days can make it very difficult for employers to use discretion. -

So what do you suppose the Government do about the 50 billion deficit? Raise taxes? Why do you keep saying "Vote NDP"? Is there an election I'm not aware of? -

Not going to reveal that on this website. But it's non-union. I'm perfectly happy with the arrangement I have in regards to vacation/sick days. -

Yes. Heck I don't even get to bank unused vacation days. I have to use them up before a certain date or they evaporate. -

It's true. The fear mongering coming from the Unions is hysterical considering while people were losing their jobs in the private sector, public sector employment actually went up! I'm sure lots public money (forced from union dues) will be spent painting the budget as an austerity plan that rivals that of Greece. -

The whole ideas of a given amount of sick days is pretty crazy IMHO. There's nothing to stop you from using them when you're not sick. And if you can bank them then what's to stop you from going to work sick because banking them is more important than keeping your co-workers from getting sick. Now I'm not saying you shouldn't get sick days but to make a finite amount of them available only leads to abuse. As for the pay freeze. Cry me a river!!!! Who budgets for increased wealth years in advance? Only a public servant with a job for life would. I read in the star today that the teachers got pay increases of like 8% a year. If you had an expectation of continued raises then why have contracts expire in the first place? Now if you were banking those sick days depending on that payout later. TOUGH! Many people have it much worse than you and that benefit was totally extravagant to begin with. And you have an excellent pension that used to own the Maple Leafs. I feel we're going to see more of this as pensions people were promised become more and more unsustainable, even in the public sector. -
I don't think anyone is disputing Guelph, a riding the Conservatives lost BTW. But why must people extrapolate that what happened in Guelph means the CPC is screwed? No evidence to support such a thing. This will have to get much worse for the people to care about this in 2015.

Best argument for not striking Iran i've heard yet
Boges replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in The Rest of the World
Well Canada is an Ally of Israel, Iran isn't. Preserving the only real democracy in the region is something worthwhile, I'd say. -

All-Day Kindergarten can easily be done by an ECE worker. Having Unionized teachers do it was a favour to the Union. BTW I just read that if teacher bank all their alloted sick days they can receive up to a 46,000 payout at retirement above and beyond their incredible pension. That's like a severance check for retiring. That is insane!!!! -
Well considering he used a burner phone, we may never know.

If something was going on in Guelph it failed miserably.

So how exactly do today's developments prove that the CPC fixed the election?

John Tory did, just not the way you wanted it addressed. -
In that quote did he not say he has co-operated with Elections Canada. Also has RackNine also not said it will co-operate with any investigation?

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/ontario-set-to-get-tough-with-teachers/article2354828/ Those don't seem like unreasonable demands. When I was in High School we had two weeks off in October due to a teachers strike. I wonder what the teachers will do if McDalton really has grown a backbone against the teachers.
