LCBO sells alcohol to 14 year old boy wearing burka!
Boges replied to The Right One's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Do you really think had the boy been wearing a ski mask he'd be treated similarly? -

Yeah because all the other states, provinces and countries, that allow such a thing, have rampant alcoholism compared to Ontario. Convenience stores are probably better equipped to ensure underage people don't get alcohol because of all the scrutiny over tobacco sales. The reason we are treated like children in Ontario is to protect the union wages of LCBO and beer store staff. Dalton doesn't give a damn about social responsibility, only ripping the people of Ontario off. -

Well it did happen 3 times at 3 different stores. I'm not outraged, it just think this highlights a glaring hypocrisy. -

Again it's not that a 14-year-old was served alcohol it's that the clerk didn't verify what the person looked like, likely because asking a Muslim woman in a Burqa to show her face would have caused trouble. If the kid came in wearing a Spiderman outfit would the clerks have acted in a similar fashion? I doubt it. -

So you can tell the age of someone by the way they walk and how tall they are? Because those are the only attributes that can be observed from someone who's completely covered in a Burqa. http://l1.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/lNCYsl9V1iNlMfRPPW7W6w--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3M7cT04NTt3PTMxMA--/http://l.yimg.com/os/153/2012/07/24/0724burka-jpg_200239.jpg Yep clearly over 19! If a private bar owner served Sambuca to a 14-year-old, their Liqour License would have been pulled so fast. But the poor unionized LCBO clerk can't be expected to make sure they aren't serving their highly-taxed controlled substance to people of the proper age. -

How would said clerk had known? His face was covered. The debate really isn't about alcohol age limits it's about why the clerk didn't ask to see the person's face. -

Interesting that Gun Sales and applications for a Gun License have increased in the wake of this event. http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/story/2012/07/25/gun-sales-colorado.html I guess this event will actually make Gun Control in the US harder not easier. -

Well NOW Magazine a predominant left-wing Toronto magazine is notorious for showing prostitution ads, sorry escort ads. If you're that offended by the Sunshine Girls fine. But it doesn't mean the reporters and columnists are any less professional. Well David Menzies isn't terribly professional but it's his schick. -
Baskin-Robbins To Close Ontario Plant
Boges replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Business and Economy
Well I think you're implying that a plan closure like this would be like if GM closed it's doors in Oshawa. I would have to disagree with that sentiment. Now when Kawartha Downs is forced to close it's doors because the Ontario government is greedy and incompetent that might be something else. -

Snobbery at it's best. This was a stunt was done by the Menzoid. He does this kind of stuff all the time. Now there's a serious implication of this issue where a woman tried to testify in court with her face covered and the Supreme Court heard arguments about that last year. http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2011/12/08/niqab-supreme-court-canada_n_1136295.html -
So McGuinty wants to push Gun Control.
Boges replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Well they do have a Land Transfer Tax above and beyond the Provincial one and Real Estate in Toronto is valued much higher than anywhere else in the province. Not that I'm a Toronto Fanboy, I'm just sayin'. So yeah they should be able to pay for their police. The announcement is really a non-announcement. It's not new funding, it's just maintaining funding that was meant to expire. However we know Dolton will probably pay for it by canceling service to some Conservative riding. -

I feel bad for the Clerks here. Had they asked the kid to take off the Burqa they'd have probably been disciplined for not being PC. Now that the story is out I wonder what will happen to them. Wait Lickbo employees are Unionized public servants, they can't do anything that'll get them fired. I am sure teens everywhere are trying to get their hands on Burqua's as we speak. -

Peterborough is small and isolated? Since when? -
http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2012/07/23/matt-gurney-toronto-disinvites-elite-youth-target-shooters-from-city-sports-event/ Yes because competitive target shooting, gang violence and shooting up a movie theatre go hand in hand. This is the type of stuff that banning gun ownership gets you.
-
Imagine if they punished Duke Basketball for the actions of the Lacrosse team. The institutional integrity was centred completely around the Football team. The reason the little boy diddling was ignored was that the bad press might have cost the football program money, it's clearly the cash cow. The Small 12, sorry the Big 10: The conference PSU plays in piled on another $13 million fine today as well. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2012/07/big-ten-more-penalties-penn-state/1

Yeah I heard people talking about this on Yahoo Sports Radio this morning saying if you aren't going to give Penn State the Death Penalty here then it's probably not ever on the table again for anything in the NCAA.

So McGuinty wants to push Gun Control.
Boges replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I believe the type of officers he wants to hire are TAVIS officers. (The Toronto Anti-Violence Intervention Strategy) So they're specifically trained in dealing with Gun/Gang related crimes. He's not asking for more officers to write speeding tickets. -
Penn State can appeal, but they wont because they're getting off rather light. Now if they got the SMU Death Penalty treatment then that would have made them suffer.
-
Banning a team from Bowls game isn't that big a penalty because bowl games are a neutral site exhibition game that ends up costing the University more money. Only the Big BCS games really make money for the school. Penn State hasn't had a National Championship caliber team since 2007.
-
Saying a University that allowed criminal behaviour shouldn't be fined because of how it will affect students is like saying a company shouldn't be fined because it'll affect employees and customers. You're assuming Penn State will take the money out of General revenue. You haven't provided any evidence to support it. I'm sure if they did make education suffer for the sins of the Football admin. the media would find out and the bad PR would be even worse. The NCAA passed down this fine not the US government. It's a sports decision. The program might actually save money because they've been forced to give 10 less scholarships.

Colorado Shooting during the Dark Knight Rises
Boges replied to msj's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It's a pretty extreme opinion to remove criminal laws attached to illicit drugs. I don't seeing this happening in Canada ever. Have any developed nations in the world tried it? You can "hypothetically" imagine a scenario where the situation would work but is there any evidence that it does? -
Are you a Pedo State fan or something? You don't have any evidence for any of those claims you've made. If Penn State punishes students for fines, that's on Penn State. Division 1 Football makes money for the University hand over fist. And other than room and board the university doesn't have to pay the players a cent. $60 million is hardly going to make them have to raise tuition for the average student. If they really wanted to punish Penn State they would have canceled a season or two.

So we'll have a HCBO? I wonder The Heroine Control Board of Ontario will be a Union gig. It'll create more jobs I guess. -

That's my question. And how can you justify regulations for alcohol and tobacco if you're going to legalize meth?
