It's all a matter of perspective.

You mean disagreeing with him by violently entering the Capitol?
-
In your opinion. It seems a healthy majority of Canadians feel support for the Convoy is a net negative. We can see that in Ontario where DoFo, a Conservative who did not support the Convoy was recently re-elected.
-
Again, it just speaks to the direction the nation is going. There are more Democrats than Republicans. This all stems from the commentary that Canada and the US are full of brainwashed stooges. My reply to that is name a Western Democracy that isn't, by that metric. Still haven't heard a response.

Sticking to a leader that only the fringe supports.
-
So are you denying that PP supports the Truckers? Or are you simply stating support for the WEF is worse?
-
It's a laughable lack of pragmatism from the Right.
-
Nor does it allow for a Canadian party to form government. But it is a good indication of the relative national support for a party, especially in a two-party system.

If you can find a spot. I utilize an at-home daycare. The daycare provider has declined to sign-up because of the onerous financial oversight it requires.

And in the source material, Tyrion Lannister was to have his nose cut off in the battle of Blackwater.

Dunno, being immortal is already pretty Mary Sue territory already dontcha think? What about the skin-colour of Harfoots, Elves and Dwarves make LOTR's work? Do you also oppose such white-washing as making the The Ancient One in Dr. Strange a White woman? I've read that Giancarlo Esposito of Breaking Bad, Mandalorian and the Boys may become the MCU's Professor X. I can imagine how many kittens Fanboys will want to punch over that.

A circle back to my earlier question to you. What Developed nation is NOT screwed by your metric?
-
His support of the Convoy.
-
Maybe not, but would prefer him to extremist politics of PP. The poll is specific about how Canadians view a politician that shows support for the Convoy.
-
PP is pretty active on Social Media. Any Canadian has access to his message unfiltered.
-
You have no evidence to support that. We'll see I suppose, but the recent polling shows that 2/3 of Canada actually have a negative view of such politics.

I was responding to DoP's post about Trump's victory in 2016, which was his response to my question as to which Developed and/or Western Democracy has a populace that would support such populists politicians like PP in significant enough numbers to form a government. The US has a vibrant Conservative populace, but they still have only won three national elections this century and lost the popular vote in two of them. The GOP win elections because of the Electoral College, not because their politics are overwhelmingly popular.
-
Trump lost the popular vote and lost in 2020. In the last 30 years the Republicans have actually only won a National popular vote once. In 2004, where Dubya rode a wave of support from his handling of 9/11, even though he had entered the country into a quagmire in Iraq.
-
Just curious. What countries populace share your view that the type of politics shown by PP and the Convoyers have any hope of forming government? It seems like it's the prevailing opinion in the developed world. It's easy just to call people who disagree with you as brainwashed. But acts like the Freedom Convoy don't change any hearts or minds.

Because they're the richest house in Westeros. Same reason Robert Baratheon married a Lannister who was sexing her twin brother.

Darwin Strikes Again....
Boges replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
1) How is that an example of Darwinism? 2) Who's spending $10k for a residential AC unit? 3) A cite would be helpful https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/colorado-utility-company-locks-22000-thermostats-in-90-degree-weather-due-energy-emergency 4) Even if you have an old-school thermostat, the hydro provider can throttle your access to electricity. This was a Thermostat provided by the company. I doubt an Ecobee or a Google Nest would be able to be over-ridden similarly. -
Two major TV shows have premiered in the past month. 1) House of the Dragon: HBO's prequel to the wildly popular popular Game of Thrones. And based on a 2018 Faux History text of the of the Targaryen family. 2) Rings of Power: Amazon's Series about the Second Age of Middle Earth. Based on some scant indexes from the Lord of the Rings Books. Both have been accused of "wokeness" by casting racialized minorities in prominent roles. https://www.belloflostsouls.net/2022/08/house-of-the-dragons-corlys-velaryon-speaks-out-about-racist-comments.html https://www.thewrap.com/lord-of-the-rings-amazon-racist-backlash-explained/ Medieval Fantasy "usually" revolves around feudalism the plight of Europeans in the middle ages, but with Magic inserted into it for lulz. In Game of Thrones lore, particularly the debates of feudal succession is the main narrative around all major storylines. But these aren't historic texts and HBO and Amazon are looking to reach a broad audience. So casting a Black dwarf, may initially seem weird, it allows for other groups to be represented in this wildly popular stories. It's kind of like adapting Romeo and Juliette into a tale of Italian and Puerto Rican gangs in the Westside Story. As Steve Toussaint points out in the first linked story. These are stories with Dragons, where is there a requirement for racial consistency? In the Lord of the Rings example. The whole premise of the story is to show groups of different "races" joining forces to defeat a common evil. But they all must be white because Tolkien grew up in the white-washed UK countryside which had very little racial diversity at the time? Tolkien was a staunch opponent of the racism of Hitler at the time. I circle back to how often white europeans are cast in roles that weren't historical made for them. They do this to appeal to the largely White North American crowd. If film-makers were being historically accurate, no depiction of Jesus would ever have him white, or speaking English.

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/sarah-palins-loss-alaskan-special-election-matters-rcna45831 I'm not really interested interested in the fact that Palin lost. It's that this election used the Ranked Choice Model. The Dem was able to win with 40% of the popular vote. Sound familiar? This is kind of the only way Conservatives can win in Canada these days. With the Dippers and Liberals splitting the Left vote. My question about Ranked Choice is how many Liberals would pick the Conservative as their second choice and would the Conservative ever select the Liberal as their second choice?
