So do you like your Eggs over easy?
Boges replied to Boges's topic in Health, Science and Technology
Terrible as in, you don't like the taste of them? I don't mind Broccoli, Cauliflower is gross though. -
http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/08/13/soccer-league-bans-b-c-pre-teens-from-tournaments-because-team-is-too-diverse/ There certainly would be an uproar if an organization in a community of that's largely white set a limit on non-whites for any given organization. I know Volleyball leagues I've played in set a minimum amount of women on a team but that's for equality of teams. Perhaps this is just a coach that will do anything to win. But why would rules like this be written into the leage.

http://www.torontosun.com/2012/08/13/egg-yolks-almost-as-unhealthy-as-cigarettes-study Why don't scientists just come out and say unless your diet consists of nothing but almonds, kale, broccoli and blueberries you're going to die early. Aren't there foods like apples and multi-grains that help control cholesterol? was that taken into consideration. What about the type of cholesterol. From reading the report, not the study, this finding sounds more like a correlation vs a causation argument. But it's studies like this that make you turn a deaf ear to dietary recommendations because they are always so inconsistent. Why not just eat moderate amounts relatively healthy food and stay active? I know, easier said than done Eggs are such an inexpensive source of protein that don't have that much calories, trying to convince people not to eat them will be hard I'd think

The McDalton government is playind divide and conquer trying to appeal to the young teachers. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/politics/article/1241252--ontario-moves-to-protect-young-teachers-jobs 50 day limit? How will they survive collecting that pension of theirs?

That DQ for team Canada in the 4x100m put a really bad taste in my mouth regarding these Olympics. First a horse gets DQ'd in Team Show Jumping, then the Women's Soccer thing and now the Men's 4x100 relay team had there flags on their backs and were starting their victory lap for an improbable bronze only to have it yanked from them because one of the runners touched the line. Sure it's in the rules but that's ticky tack! I remember on the first day a Canadian was supposed to be in a swimming final because a South Korean favourite was DQ'd for a false start and that decision was reversed. I'll still watch the closing ceremonies tomorrow but it seems like the Officials had it in for Canada in these Olympics.

Well you can't say African American because many are from the Caribbean. As wyly said, you got people from East Africa that do very well in long distance running. I was watching the women's 5000m and the top 6 was Ethiopia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Kenya. But what about Sub Saharan Africa? Countries like Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia? Interesting to see how many contenders are from Netherlands. There is an island called the Netherland Antilles which no longer exists as an independant nation so the people from there have to compete for the motherland.

They let you pay that because you're locked in for 3 years. If you didn't get a contract they'd charge you $600.
-
The case anyone should get is a Casemate or Otter case. My phone still retails for $600, don't every want to break it.

I think more games are made for iOS, specifically iPad. iPad games are fairly well made but at $500+ for an iPad it's the most expensive gaming system there is. I watch a show on G4TV that reviews at least one iOS game an episode and I often can't find the game they're reviewing on my phone yet. But things are changing, I read that Gameloft, one of the bigger mobile phone game makers, are going to offer all there games on both platforms. I used an iPod touch for a few years and I bought a few games for it. But now I see my phone as more a tool and information device more than a gaming console. I do have a few free games like Pinball, Tetris and a Trivia App. If I'm going to spend more than 10 minutes playing a video game, I'll turn on my Xbox.

iPhones are a fashion statement for girls. I have yet to find a bejeweled Samsung Galaxy case.

Well this thread keeps getting bumped. We can agree to disagree and I'll be fine.

Well you could argue the under 35 crowd is far more tech savy meaning that long-term it's a good thing for Android. Android has extended its lead on Apple. http://money.cnn.com/2012/08/08/technology/smartphone-market-share/ I think what you'll see is that people who are making the switch from another BB or non-data phones are switching to Droid more than Apple. Now will people convert to Apple when the iPhone 5 comes out? I haven't seen anything in the rumours for the iPhone 5 that make it more marketable than comparable Android phones.

You see what happened in 1998 when Canada had to play in a Bronze medal game? They mailed it in. The Hockey players at the Olympics are all Millionaires. They're there for nothing less than Gold. What made the Women's soccer team so special is they weren't expected to medal and they had a heartbreaking loss to the #1 team in the world partly due to bad officiating. Plus they have arguably the best female soccer player in the world on that team.

Well all athletes are different. To many, a bronze is a fantastic success. The canoe guy who won a bronze yesterday must be thrilled. He had multiple generations of Olympians in his family but he's the first to win an Olympic medal. But you can't help but think a guy like Adam van Kouverden (the kayaker) was a tad disappointed he had to settle for Silver yesterday considering he won that even in 2004 and was leading that race until the last few hundred yards. Usain Bolt would have to feel disappointed if he doesn't win Gold in an hour or so in the 200m or if Jamaica doesn't win the 4x100m tomorrow. Do you think USA Men's Basketball would be happy with anything less than Gold in these Olympics? Do you think Canada would have been celebrating a Silver in Men's hockey in 2010? I doubt it.

Why? Japan beat Canada and The USA beat France in the early rounds. Japan and the USA are the top two teams. Canada is definitely an up and coming team. They finished with no points in the World Cup last year and this Scottish coach Herdman was brought and and the improvements are noticeable to all. I heard someone joke on the radio that perhaps he should coach the Leafs. France seems to be a technically great team but you gotta be able to score to win. Canada's defense was clearly up to the test in this game.
-
Soccer and Cricket is huge there too. Donovan Bailey and Ben Johnson were both Jamaican born so yeah Jamaicans are pretty dominant in sprinting. That being said, Usain Bolt is an extraordinary athlete.
-
Jamaica seems to be doing well to develop great sprinters.
-
Well they did it! France dominated most of the game but Canada scored in stoppage time of the second half to win the Bronze. This is probably the best medal of these Olympics for Canada.
-
That's not true. They had 10 minutes left in that game and had coughed up the lead twice already. That game was not won by any means. Those calls were BS but they still lost that game. They still need to perform to make people rejoice over their performance in these Olympics. If they can score 3 times on Hope Solo I'm sure they can put a few behind whatever Frog is playing for France.

FTFY. Team Canada was dreadful in Turin, They got ousted in the Quarters by Russia, if memory serves me correctly. Served them right for putting Bryan McCabe on the team I suppose. The difference is Gold is the only thing that matters in Ice Hockey. After losing the way they did to the Czech's in 1998, I doubt Gretzky an Co. really cared enough about a Bronze. That Tournament sucked all the games were at 2am here. A Bronze is fine for this team considering how they did in the last World Cup. Sinclaire seems to be Canada's best athlete in these Olympics. If they do end up snagging Bronze, I'd vote for her over the Trampoline chick that got our only Gold to this point, (and likely for the whole Olympics) to carry the flag at the closing ceremony.

Let's get ready to RUMBLE!!!!!!!!!! It'll be pretty sweet if the Teachers are on strike during the election date. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/politics/article/1238711--mcguinty-calls-byelections-for-vaughan-and-kitchener-waterloo The people of K-Dub don't really want this man to have unfettered power for another 3 years do they?
-
And I'm sure you have plenty of evidence to support that.
-
Well you sorta goaded me into it by providing those two links. I can provide several head to head reviews that have the GS3 and the GS2 for that matter to be better phones than the iPhone 4S. There are some objective standards used to rate smartphones above and beyond the feel of the OS. Again I'm not attacking you personally for your choices to buy an apple product. But for someone, again not you! to say Apple just makes better products period, speaks to a kind of elitism that I find objectionable. People that use Apple products have that reputation.

Hey Canada just won a Bronze in High Jump. (FIST PUMP!!!) There's a Canadian woman with fabulous abs that looks to have a good shot to medal in 100m hurdles. But then again there's that Canadian Woman's Soccer farce, Tara Whitten finished fourth in some track cycling race, and Simon Whitfield, the flag bearer crashed in the triathalon.

I think the big problem with Hockey in the Olympics is that there are two different types of games being played. I don't think it's any coincidence that both Olympics held in North America the final was Canada v USA and in the other two Canada and the USA didn't do very well. Doesn't stop World Cup Soccer players, do they get paid? Because it only happens once every 4 years.
