And to that effect, if they choose to have a Byelection, will he run for that?
-
I guess, the prevailing opinion is that Doug Holliday will be named interim mayor. He's a conservative that is far less divisive. You could give him credit for making the labour deals last year.
-
Adam Vaughan had been saying this morning, not a fan of the mayor at all, that these kind of distractions are bad for the city. The idea that they now have to contemplate who they'll replace the mayor with or will they have another election, will take away from the city's business. This was a motion done by a private citizen and not Ford's enemies on council. I doubt they are taking pleasure in this ruling.

That's kind of the irony of this on both sides. A Liberal might think that mandatory sentences in much more serious violent crimes are a bit heavy-handed. But in this instance a "mandatory minimum" was used without any discretion for the scope of the actual effect this had on how the city is run.

Looks like he's out in 2 weeks. Found Guilty of Conflict of Interest. Seems pretty harsh to remove a democratically elected mayor over a matter of $3,000. According to what I'm hearing on the radio, he can run again and won't be banned from running for 7 years. I predict there'll be some blowback from this. I think reasonable people who aren't motivated by hatred for Ford would find a mayor being removed like this off putting. In Mississauga Mayor Hazel was found to participated in something far more shady and she's still in office. Ford can appeal though. I hope that having Doug Holliday being named Interim and possibly replacement mayor may be a good thing for the city, as he's as fiscally conservative as Ford without being such a divisive personality.

Having Tony Soprano playing another Mobster just wouldn't work. BTW regarding Walking Dead. In a show where you show so much gratuitous violence, why can't they show us Maggie boobs? Stupid FCC!

Justin remind Albertans why they don't vote Liberal
Boges replied to a topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Actually Sun News exposed it I believe. In 2010 Justin was also less relevant than he is now. -
Another victory for the unions!
Boges replied to CPCFTW's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Totally agree, it's as if what's good for the Union supersedes what's good for the company. I actually got some overtime this week because people were off and we had some extra project. I gladly took it but I wasn't dragging my heels in order to get it. I'd imagine exposing slackers is made very difficult by a collective agreement because those slackers end up brining more money in the way of overtime. -

Boges replied to CPCFTW's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I'm not sure if I could work in a Union. There are people in my company that are Unionized, that do what I do. I hear that if managers help out when times are busy GRIEVANCE!!!! If they show someone how to do something instead of instruct them how to do something GRIEVANCE!!!!! It seems like they're more concerned with procedure than being productive workers collectively working for the good of the company. It's an attitude that doesn't really foster ambition or excellence either. -
I wonder if the real Nucky married an annoying Irish woman that gives away his real estate to the Catholic Church and bleeps the muscle?

That's such BS. So had they not cut the GST 2% we'd be fine and dandy now?I guess if you have no problem with austerity if you think our deficit is a result of simple mismanagement then eh? -

Well Quebec is now irrelevant. You can now win a majority without Quebec. Impossible to do it without Ontario though. -
Justin Trudeau Would Take Liberals to a Majority
Boges replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Is this more hidden agenda foolishness? When has he ever put his religion into his policies as PM. He's taken great steps to avoid such things even if there are people in his party that are religiously motivated. You can't be a big tent party like the CPC is and not have some "bible thumpers" in the fold. I'm sure there are plenty of Dippers that are flat-out communist, but they don't reflect the direction of the party. As for being a redneck. That imagine of him at the Stampede in Cowboy gear made it clear he doesn't do the rural cowboy thing that well. -

You really would characterize Harper as a "redneck bible thumper"? Talk about offensive stereotypes. -
Justin remind Albertans why they don't vote Liberal
Boges replied to a topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So it's OK to attack Alberta because they vote CPC anyway? The thing that I find ridiculous about the Trudeau comment is that he said Canada belongs to Quebec and Canada only does well when run by a Quebecer. As an someone from Ontario, I find that more offensive. Afterall Harper was born in Toronto. -
Olivia Chows "Penny Tax" as un-reported..
Boges replied to Fletch 27's topic in Local Politics in Canada
Exactly, so I don't know why Fletch was brining the burbs into the debate. That being said you put a 1% VAT in Toronto, I'm sure Hazel will see fit to do it in the kingdom of Mississauga, she was already opining that a Bag ban would be a decent idea. Which it's not! -
Justin Trudeau Would Take Liberals to a Majority
Boges replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No, because his ideas are simply to pander to Quebec. Remember when he said that he'd rather be a Separtist than live in a Harper run Canada. The man has some extreme opinions. I'm too young to have a relevant opinion of PET but I'd imagine he was a bit better at being a uniter than Junior here. -
Justin remind Albertans why they don't vote Liberal
Boges replied to a topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yeah because if there was a quote from the PM saying that Canada is nothing without Alberta and the rest of the country owes them for paying all the bills, the Star and the CBC wouldn't go apeshit. -
Justin remind Albertans why they don't vote Liberal

Yes because in order for the Liberals to win they need to move beyond their traditional fortresses. This type of Quebec arrogance is off putting to the ROC. -

Well starting April 2013, if he wins he has around 2 years to practice. -

I know dude was speaking to his base. But Gadam that's some bad PR for Justin. -
David McGuinty quits for offensive Alberta remarks.
Boges replied to Boges's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I dunno, the Harris Conservatives were pretty conservative. I contend the reason the PCs lost in Ontario in 2011 is they weren't conservative enough. Without Ontario this Alberta party you're hating on wouldn't have any power whatsoever. -

I wonder if this will follow Justin around? Mulroney was from Quebec, Was he one of the century's great PM's?
