  1. But not me? Aww Shucks. And you'd be surprised how little power it seems Canada has to help people in trouble abroad. This was a well publicized story a few years. back. http://voices.yahoo.com/canadian-teen-held-cuba-foreign-affairs-following-6359290.html
  2. Sure it's outrageous. But plenty of the realities of the legal system in these countries are outrageous. Are we selectively being "more" outraged because Left-wing Canadians are being caught up in it. Isn't the whole idea that homosexuality is illegal in all countries but Israel in the region outrageous enough? Apparently the Egyptians have a long listen of allegations. http://o.canada.com/news/loubani-greyson-egypt-charge-murder/
  3. I think the point Ezra is making is that the reason there is political outrage over the incident is exactly because they were there to support Palestine and if they were there to say.
  4. I could flip that on its head. Would there be such an outcry about their imprisonment if they were there on some sort of Christian missionary trip and imprisoned for threatening Islam? FTR the CPC has called for their release. What else are they to do? invade Egypt?
  5. Sure I'm all for that. But that's not what the likes of Trudeau are advocating for. They seem to want the type of ridiculous regulation we see with Tobacco and Alcohol in this country.
  6. That legal? And is growing grapes to make your own wine a common practice for people in urban and suburban environments?
  7. What about Moonshine?
  8. Which, like I've been saying, means it'll be a no-no to grow your own plants. If I could grow my own Single-malt scotch, I wouldn't be going to the LCBO.
  9. So the due process and horrible political conditions in country's like these are only to be taken seriously when Canadians get caught up in them? Is it a surprise to anyone that countries like Egypt would treat political opponents in such a manor?
  10. Sure, in Canada. They willfully went to Egypt and got involved in a political crisis.
  11. The Neo-Nazis were just a natural progression. I think the European market was just an added frill to keep Lydia relevant in the story. If you remember before she pitches that idea to Walt she was meant to get Ricin'd then. You have Fring's guys in jail being appeased by Mike's money. Once Mike and his lawyer are compromised something has to be done about Fring's guys. The only people can do anything about them is some sinister organization like Uncle Jack's crew. So Walt is forced to make friends with some evil people. You knew when he wanted out, that his relationship with them was going to come back and bite him. Walt makes things worse when he trades his talents for them killing Jessie. And it all goes to Hell. I personally thought Uncle Jack was the best antagonist since Tucco. He didn't have any redeeming qualities like Gus, you didn't cheer for him. And when they finally get it, it felt very satisfying.
  12. Unless you're doing a True Story, aren't any ideas a TV writer comes up with considered "Gimmicky"?
  13. SYHTFOTW but it appears the Leafs and Kessel are close to a deal, 8 years too. Burke would never have signed any player for that long.
  14. I know, by Canadian standards, what happened to them is an atrocity. But they weren't in Canada, they were in Egypt in the midst of a political coupe and they supported the losing side. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/two-canadians-held-in-egypt-given-extended-detention-family-says/article14589619/ Canada is calling for their release, but what else can they do? They went to this part of the world for political reasons and they got caught up in an unfortunate situation. But they should bare the responsibility for getting themselves in that situation. The irony is that one of the men is a Gay activist. In Egypt, is not being Gay a crime enough? But they're also very anti-Israel. I would put forward the argument they would not have experienced the treatment they have if they were in Israel at the time. I know everything Ezra says is dismissed immediately by some of you but he wrote about them today. http://www.torontosun.com/2013/09/30/whole-truth-hardly-media-party-spins-quite-a-tale-about-its-two-latest-heroes They're supporters of Hamas, Do they think Hamas treat opponents any better than they've been treated?
  15. Labour is quickly moving away from Unionization. How can you make a 50 plus year contract like that ignoring the changing market conditions?
  16. Can't really agree with that. The Gus storyline certainly was the show's strongest but you can't end the series with Walt being Cancer Free and having just killed the meth king he aspires to become. I think Season 5 was really 2 separate seasons. The first part shows Walt picking up the pieces Gus has left behind and creating his own successful meth operation. At the end of the first 8 episodes he's accomplished all he wanted and is bored. Skyler shows him how much money he's made and there's no real point to continue on. But then his hubris allows Hank to figure him out He's also made friends with very shady people, It was the beginning of his downfall. And that leads us to the second half of the fifth season. Without Season 5 we wouldn't have my favourite episode, the Train heist episode where in the midst of absolute victory Todd shoots a boy and we get a glimpse of what the final enemy will become.
  17. I'll go as far as saying that calling Breaking Bad "B Movie" is rather insulting to all those people that loved the show. Everyone has the right to their opinion but the show was brilliantly written, had a great balance of suspense, violence, intelligence and humour. As for the jerry-rigged machine gun in the trunk. It shows the type of problem solving that made Walt the character he was. The show is littered with brilliant ways he got out of tough situations. The writers get the cast into tough situations and they get out somehow. See the episode Salud where Gus manages to poison and entire cartel in Mexico. See Faceoff where Walt finds a way to kill Gus. See One Minute where Hank is able to escape 2 Mexican hitmen alive. And see the finale where Walt is able to take out a group of Neo Nazi's and poison a former associate with Ricin. If you find all those situations unbelievable, that's fine . . . BUT IT'S TV!!!! It's not meant to be all that realistic anyway. I never followed the Wire or Sopranos so I can't comment on those shows. But Breaking Bad is certainly the most engaging Television Show I've ever seen.
  18. Out of new shows, no. We'll SHIELD but you already mentioned that. DVR got really full last week with all the new shows starting as well as a few summer shows winding down. I do recommend Revolution. The second season got off to a great start. Obviously Walking Dead which starts soon. Boardwalk Empires is great TV. I must be one of the few people that still admit to watching the original CSI. Still very good with mostly new characters.
  19. You can see it when you quote the message. If a town is built upon a business and that business leaves, should the government subsidize the town? Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. It's sort of like the argument I read on this site against EI reform. People doing seasonal work should be able to apply for EI every year inorder to keep them in communities built on those industries.
  20. I'm not saying you're wrong but I'm going to have to ask for a cite. If cops do enforce simple possession, then why would they ask to make it a ticketable offense? Clearly police chiefs have problems with criminally charging people for simple possession. There are plenty of examples were laws aren't enforced the way they are written. The big one is the fact that most highways have a maximum speed limit of 100 km/h when effectively no one fears getting a speeding ticket until they move past 120 km/h. If all these parties were so pro pot, where was their big pro legalization platform in the 2011 campaign. Why wasn't it an issue that Harper had to answer for then? The Liberals were in power less than 10 years ago and I don't remember legalization come up at all.
  21. Satisfying ending. If you were looking for anything more than that, you're just being needlessly negative. All the loose ends tied up. Now let's see if Saul can carry his own show.
  22. Burke pissed off the suits. I guess Bell/Rogers don't think as kindly to hot-headed execs as the teachers did.
  23. Not Moonshine though. Also the difference between growing basil or tomatoes in your garden is they aren't regulated substances. In fact if you notice when you buy staples at the grocery store, you pay no tax.
