  1. He can't be, nor should he be. He was elected. But if he believes in his cause he needs to step aside because every day he stays he's digging a bigger and bigger hole.
  2. If, what happened yesterday, was simply Liberals on council piling on, I think Ford could continue. But now almost every ally he has, has turned their back on him. At this point, he's a mayor for comedic purposes only. He'd done more damage to his cause than his opponents have.
  3. The Liberals achieved their surpluses because of the infusion of cash from the GST and massive cuts and downloading to the provinces. I always find it wildly hilarious that Mike Harris is this demon when he tackled Ontario's budget problems in a similar fashion as Paul Martin. Now look at Ontario. The Ontario Liberals had pledged to eliminate their deficit by 2017 but last week said that probably won't happen because they think spending more money is important.
  4. Well he's successfully changed the narrative from the smoking crack. Sooooo there's that. I feel bad for the staff though. The media went to court to have these transcripts released before any court case. Now they stand to be sued.
  5. There was broad support from all parties to go into deficit. I'm sure if you ask the NDP, they think the attempt to eliminate the deficit is wrong-headed. The CPC had to be dragged and kicking to employing Keynesian economics.
  6. I've been reading they could probably balance the books a year earlier. They're only dropping the deficit a few hundred million this year. Everything is about politics right? Regardless, G8 nation in surplus post 2008 meltdown is a bid deal and Harper should be given credit for it, if it comes to pass.
  7. Dude knows how to party.
  8. Tarek Fattah is no Conservative. They used to allow Sid Ryan write a column. But yeah it's a Conservative paper. I doubt the people that read it want to hear from too many Liberal voice. I have to refrain from fits of rage reading Kinsella trying to defend the McGuinty government.
  9. An example of this would be people in the Arctic right?
  10. I just heard the Santa Clause Parade organizers have as RoFo to stay home and not lead the parade. OUCH!!!!
  11. That makes reform much more difficult does it not?
  12. Isn't Harper waiting on a Supreme Court decision on the Senate before he can reform it?
  13. Being a part of the religion sure doesn't stop people from commenting on Christianity.
  14. Do you think they should? Of course the two issues aren't comparable. BTW people in the media have no problem associating the scandals of Ford and the Duffy/Wright/Harper affair even though they aren't comparable either.
  15. She has her hair down. HUSSIE!!!! BTW the fact that women organized the event doesn't make it NOT sexist and/or patronizing. There are women who believe advocate for Anti-Abortion laws. Women can disagree on issues.
  16. I'm 100% sure it won't happen either. I'm just having an argument that I disagree with the motion being put forward tomorrow. Also because the councillor putting forward the motion is a former Ford ally that is rumoured to be throwing his hat in the mayor's race.
  17. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/RARE-TORONTO-MAYOR-ROB-FORD-OFFICIAL-BOBBLEHEAD-Crack-ROBBIE-BOBBIE-/161148845389 I want to get BD this for Christmas, let's take up a collection.
  18. Yeah so he will put forward a motion if he refuses. We'll see what he does but there may be a motion asking for his powers to be stripped or an outright removal from office. http://www.thestar.com/news/city_hall/2013/11/12/mayor_rob_ford_puts_leaveofabsence_motion_on_the_front_burner.html
  19. Well not a recall but there's a motion going before council tomorrow that would ask the province to strip the mayor of all his powers.
  20. OK, regardless this thread is about the Burka and the cultural significance of that.
  21. So we'll have a Provincial Ford Law. Any Mayor that has done what Ford has done can be legally removed from office even if they haven't been charged of a crime. Cool! BTW even recall legislation in the US call for a new election.
  22. I think many in the religion believe Jihad or "Struggle" is a calling to arms against the "infidel" From "Jihad's" wiki page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jihad I don't know of doctrine like that in any other mainstream religion. Again all religious texts are up for interpretation but I challenge anyone find a passage from the New Testament that can be thought of as a call to arms.
  23. But Ford has not been charged with any crime, yet. By what standard would one use to determine if he's not fit for office? There was an attempt to have him removed legally because of a conflict of interest issue. He won on appeal. Again I'm not defending Ford's action, but it's a very dangerous precedent to set.
  24. What type of person wants to buy a Ford Bobble-head. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/toronto/hundreds-line-up-for-toronto-mayor-rob-ford-charity-bobbleheads/article15386803/ I heard on the radio someone put 2 of them up on Kijiji for $500. LOL
  25. If it wasn't for the crack use, this story wouldn't have the legs it has. It certainly wouldn't be International news. All the other stuff certainly seems shady but Ford currently isn't facing any criminal charges.
