  1. Check the Twitter replies to the Health Minister's tweet yesterday.
  2. Like with most things, you see a lot of outrage on Twitter. The NDP want the house recalled to debate this.
  3. So you're hand-waving war crimes, but outraged at whatever Zelensky is being accused of? Nice to know you're Pro Targeting Civilians as, just "war".
  4. I suspect the government would rather pay a flat rate for care than hire Unionized healthcare workers as public servants. It's probably a more efficient business model.
  5. The MO now is to attribute anyone dying or collapsing to the Vaccine. It muddies the water perfectly. Thankfully the only place you find these Vaccine hysterics is the same place you find people who think we should still mandate masks in public. On the interwebs. Thanksfully no one takes either particularly seriously.
  6. Sure. But it's a common procedure and it's a service that has suffered over the pandemic. Offload it to private carriers and you don't have Hospitals cancelling elective surgeries if too many people have the Flu.
  7. Because Russia invaded an independent nation and is bombing its civilians.
  8. I like how this lot were skeptical of figures during the midst pandemic. Like how a lot of people died of this disease in places that didn't institute restrictions. Remember the morgues filling up. If you don't, just look at the situation in China right now where they essentially delayed the worst of the pandemic by 2 years by locking the entire country down. But now, most of the developed world is essentially past the pandemic, these Vaccine-Obsessive people are combing over unreliable stats as proof that this whole thing was a giant conspiracy. It's quite pathetic. The reason people with 4+ shots are at a higher risk of dying is because they're the type of people that are AT A HIGHER RISK OF DYING. People 60+ people with co-morbidities, people with bad immune systems that even a vaccine can't prevent a bad outcome. And yes, those were always the type of people more likely to die of COVID during the pandemic. Though some of the earlier variants certainly did kill younger people before the vaccine became widespread. But the risk was always healthcare collapse.
  9. But maybe things that don't require extensive time in a Hospital? Free's the Hospitals up for emergencies like dealing with an influx of people with acute respiratory symptoms.
  10. Forced Air Gas is better than Baseboard Electric heating. Gas Companies allow you to pay your gas bill over the year so you can even out the Bill. But new Electric Heat revolves around using a Heat Pump, so it produces hot air, like an AC in reverse. My Car has a Heat Pump.
  11. The idea that Landfills are going to be full of EV batteries are pretty alarmist. Do ICE vehicles end up in the Landfill. Cars are always recycled and batteries are recycled.
  12. When you buy something that has certain surcharges, like say installation, do they add the HST to the sub-total or the price after all the addition? There are things that are exempt from Sales Taxes like groceries. I don't think pollution would quality.
  13. Same people who were able to lay explosives in the WTC and Pentagon without anyone noticing.
  14. In Ontario, the PC government has suspended collection of their gas tax for at least this year. It amounts to about 6 cents/litre. But as myata points out, they still get to collect Sales tax on the inflated price.
  15. 1) It's not all that expensive. 2)The price of Energy currently is more a reflection of Oil production lagging behind Post-COVID economic activity and Putin deciding to invade Ukraine forcing Western Europe to try and boycott Russian Energy.
  16. It's not really a tax on a charge. More like a tax on the price of the good after the charge.
  17. So high and mighty and yet on an Island. I'll repeat, Putting a price on Carbon Emissions is pretty much the norm in the Developed world. So I guess the entire Western World is stupid. Except Right-Wingers who overwhelming represent poor and uneducated parts of the world.
  18. And every other developed nation in the world. Many US states do have a price for Carbon. American Right-Wingers seem to be the only viable political faction left that doesn't accept that air pollution should be free.
  19. Such persuasive rhetoric.
  20. Slippery Slope arguments are always the most persuasive. ?
  21. Again you'd be on the wrong side of science with this assessment. 150 years of belching Greenhouse gases into the environment has certainly changed the environment for the worse. If you pay attention to the car industry. All cars are more expensive. Most automakers are getting out of the business of cheap base model cars. If you can't afford 40k+ for a new car, perhaps you should look at buying used. Tin foil hat fitting kind of snug? And as far as China somehow becoming a vanguard of anti climate change EV technology... It does have the largest population in the world. I would suggest, per capita, they actually do quite well for emissions. AND again, why let China lead the way on this? Since when is China the model of how to run an economy?
  22. Eventually. If you don't believe Climate Change is real, you'll reject all measure. But you'd be on the wrong side of history. It's the same rhetoric. If you ban a cheap but unsafe product, you're attacking the poor. That's not the claim you made, you said it's more expensive to run. And my EV was much less than $60k Again if you disagree with the whole premise of climate change then every attempt to do something for the environment is an attack. It's a convenient position to take. China is also leading the world in EV adoption and clean tech. But even if they weren't should you let China dictate one's climate policy? Aren't we glad we didn't let them lead us in COVID policy?
  23. You can get a Home Charger off Amazon for like $400. The cost is getting the NEMA 40 line within reach of your car. Depends on the Electrician you use and the situation in your garage, but that's an unfront cost and not the cost to actually run the car. If you charge at night, which most EV users do, you pay something around 10-15 cent per kwH. A litre of gasoline is equal to about 9 kwh. Seems somewhat even until you calculate that comparable mileage on an EV usually require less than 100 kwh. So the the price of 10 litres of gas? What ICE car can fill up on 10 litres of gas? If you have to depend on Public chargers, EVs aren't for you yet. But if you have a Garage where you can charge at home, they're amazing. Not the point of this thread however. Outlawing Lead Paint victimizes the poor Imagine too. The studies cited found they don't particularly burn that clean. Apparently the Federal government is incentivizing poor people to transition to electric ovens which are safer and more efficient. And no one is pledging to ban Gas Furnances . . . yet.
  24. Well it seems from the posters here that people won't considering kicking their fossil fuel addiction unless lightly encouraged. If Fuel-efficiency isn't a concern when purchasing a new vehicle or appliance. . . it should be.
  25. This. Ontario has lots of reserves of the kinds of metals required to make EVs. It's a great opportunity. But to this lot, the only acceptable form of transportation is oil derived from the Tar Sands.
