  1. Well this is about Trump, right? The problem with the US political system is that only a handful of states decide the entire POTUS contest.
  2. Sure and then lost the 2020 election very badly even while his party did fairly well down ballot.
  3. So we're still living in 2016. I get it, that's your safe space.
  4. That was an excellent post mortem that was done after 2016. You ignore that Biden was able to achieve the largest margin of victory since Reagan. Or are you just calling it all fraud? You think the GOP will resonate with the public, going forward, if they just assume that 2020 was stolen from them?
  5. Who won the popular vote in 2016? Trump won by flipping 3 states by the smallest of margins. Trump won because of Democratic arrogance.
  6. It seems you're the one that assumes how the opposing side is framing an argument. I can totally criticize Trump based on the merit of previous governments or other policies. For example, why is it that what's left of the Tea Party is quiet in the face of rampant deficit spending by Trump?
  7. It's clear that many Democrats were eager to contest the 2016 outcome. Wanna know who stopped them at this stage? Joe Biden.
  8. As mentioned by BC2004. Obama's immigration policy was quite strict. Ultimately removal of regulations, especially in regards to environmental ones, help the large corporations the populists are raging against right now in light of COVID-19.
  9. It's not new to anyone who's been paying attention. It's said deplorables who have the GOP terrified. A devoted core of people who somehow see this two-bit conman as a saviour. It does speak to the end of the Republican party as a "Conservative" party. It's a populist part who's devoted to one man. How else can you describe Ted Cruz playing along with the Fraud scheme five years after Trump accused him of the exact same thing? ?
  10. They're not. The people that the Deplorables should oppose also support Trump. But Trump cons the "Deplorables" to make them think he's on their side. When it's clear that Trump's only in it for Trump.
  11. I fully understand how he got where he is. You don't seem to understand that being disgusted by his "act" isn't an example of Trump owning everyone. I know this is Godwin, but it's like if Nazis were like "Hilter is in everyone's head!" "Keep pwning the Allies". The fact that he is exploiting poor and ignorant people isn't something to admire. Unless, of course, you're also morally bankrupt.
  12. Because he's a massive con-man. Chickens eventually come home to roost.
  13. The AstraZeneca/Oxford Vaccine has started being administered in the UK. I think this vaccine will be the game-changer. https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/u-k-rolls-out-astrazeneca-shots-touts-taking-lead-in-global-vaccine-race-1.5860352 Both the US and Canada have gotten off to a very slow start in vaccinating people. I think Canada needs to quit trying to be fair an equitable. Urban Centres need these vaccine more than remote locations. That should be the only real focus for the first 3 months.
  14. So you'd force people in "at-risk" groups to isolate then? Many are. If you're older or have a co-morbidity you're probably already taking COVID-19 very serious. But many don't have the economic freedom to "isolate". They live in shared accommodation or they work in an industry where social distancing is very hard. And those are the people that are suffering from COVID-19 the most. They're also the people least likely to be able to work from home or stay with school-age children who are forced to learn from home. I think after this lockdown, assuming numbers don't appreciably drop (which I don't expect them to) governments will have to realize that business isn't what's driving spread. Allow places to open back up. It's social gatherings that are the culprit. And if COVID-19 is to be contained before the vaccine steps in, some form of enforcement for social gatherings need to take place.
  15. I actually don't want him to go away. Once he becomes a private citizen, his attempts to retain his financial solvency and freedom will be extraordinarily entertaining.
  16. I'm sure they can walk and chew gum at the same time. Field Hospitals are certainly not a long term solution. And if you're forced to open field hospitals you're conceding that every other element of the Emergency Healthcare system is suffering. Imagine getting a heart attack right now and having to go to a hospital full of COVID-19 patients?
  17. As Trump is toast now.
  18. Facts https://www.iheartradio.ca/newstalk-1010/news/toronto-hospital-already-seeing-increase-in-holiday-related-covid-19-cases-1.14296007?fbclid=IwAR0Jy0O8tqvC-b-Gh_3EXTRK-3X2z-b4G1E7slBhbjrIASc9L-8h5_7XPRY Simply dividing the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations by the number Hospitals in the province isn't a relevant fact. If a person getting sick in Toronto has to go to Dryden to get ICU care, that's not exactly a good thing.
  19. No, that's why Gore didn't do it. There's video of Biden (President of the Senate in 2017) refusing to even have debate about potential voter fraud. We'll see what Pence does, we certainly know there's a faction of the GOP that wants every Republican in Congress to make a Fealty vote to Trump.
  20. The funny thing about that is that Al Gore was the President of the Senate and presided over the counting of the EC votes against him. A 5 EC vote L, Not the 74 votes Trump lost to Biden by. The GOP is trying to get Pence to overturn the election. Imagine if Gore did that?
  21. One thing I was stuck by listening to the audio was how ignorant Trump was about his own efforts to overturn the election. I think posters on this site would have done a better job trying to convince the Secretary of State the election was stolen. He keeps talking about rumours and "what people are saying". And like the constant con-man he is, he's trying to convince Raffensperger that other states are about to decertify as well. That's an obvious lie. Amongst other obvious lies. Georgia has done 3 re-counts. At this point there's no level of due diligence that will convince Trumpers that Biden won that election.
  22. The level of desperation seen from Trump would indicate he knows he's headed for ruin post POTUS. Whether that means financial ruin or the loss of his freedom. When I first heard the WaPO excerpt I assumed it was from November or December where he was trying to prevent certification or something. But it was from this weekend! He was trying to get Georgia to decertify! How would a rational person assume that was going to go any differently? He's only surrounding himself with people who believe the conspiracies that support him.
  23. The entire tape is available to the public. Are there parts that excuse Trump telling a Republican Secretary of State to "find" an exact number of votes so he can win the state?
  24. Republicans eat their own. Mike Pence being sued so he doesn't accept the Electoral College results.

    1. Shady

      Shady

Means nothing.  The battle between AOC and Pelosi/Schumer is much more important.

  25. Trump's FU to the GOP establishment is deliciously entertaining. He's forced the GOP in the House to overrule his Veto of the Defence Bill and he's sided with the Dems on $2,000 stimulus cheques. It forces Mitch to either ignore the House Bill (that was passed with some GOP support) or let his caucus vote against direct COVID-19 aid or support a bill passed by Nancy Pelosi. It also gives the Dems in Georgia campaign fuel for the Runoff elections next week.
