Not taking this well eh?
-
It didn't. And likely won't. But Trump's putting a max pressure on his poor loyal Veep to not accept the EC results. It would be akin to a defeated PM trying to have a GG not accept the results of a Canadian election.
-
Godwin can be found everywhere one looks. You can see how Nazism took control because a Democratically Elected Party refused to give up power. Kind of like if an election can be overturned by a Veep because they don't like the result.

Don't they have jobs?

Perdue and Loeffler need more than that.

America Under pResident Biden
Boges replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It looks like the Biden Admin will have carte blanche for 2 years, at least. Other than dealing with the horrific COVID-19 response, you'd think the Biden Admin would try to get real democratic reform going. Get rid of the Filibuster, add DC and Puerto Rico as states. Heck remove the Electoral College while they're at it. That'll ensure the GOP stay in the wilderness for a very long time. -
If the Democrats could perpetuate fraud so easily in Georgia and Arizona, why is there no evidence such fraud happened in Texas, Florida, Ohio and North Carolina? You'd think they would have wanted to cover all their bases. North Carolina has a Dem governor. It should have been so easy to steal that state.
-
All those places with lots of people took longer to count votes than those places with a few dozen people. Having large urban areas is a clear sign of fraud. Hey if the Dems can perpetuate "fraud" like this is a previous ruby red state like Georgia, then I suppose the GOP have no hope of every gaining power again.

America under President Trump
Boges replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Looks like both Georgia Senate seats are going Blue. Trump screwed Mitch McConnell on his way out the door. Good on him. . . I guess. He gave the Dems an easy wedge issue with the $2,000 stimulus cheque. Something Mitch refused to consider. He'll lose majority status because of it. -
I don't disagree. Just not sure how that looks in practice. Can they be made as widely available as pregnancy tests? Depends how you eat. I suspect you can still go for walks or exercise at home. I know I quit my Gym Membership and it hasn't particularly made me less healthy because I continue to keep relatively active.

I think that's already the reality. You're supposed to self-isolate if you have a positive diagnosis or if you've been exposed to someone that's been positive. The US is, by and large, an unhealthy country. Lots of obesity, heart disease etc. Certain, more liberal places, have seen lockdowns, but much of the country has few restrictions.

I'm saying that it's not using theoretic Hospital Capacity from Hospitals very far away shouldn't minimize the crisis situation in Hospital capacity in Hot Zones. Also, and ICU bed isn't just a bed, it comes with staff and technology that can't just be transported.

How about Hospitalizations? That leads to a cascading effect of increasing the death toll because of rationing of care and people dying of other things because so many resources are being focused on COVID-19. https://globalnews.ca/news/7553428/ontario-coronavirus-cases-january-4-covid19/

I think we can all admit caseload is irrelevant without hospitalization and death figures attached. One thing about deaths per capita is that they consider deaths from the beginning of the pandemic where treatment was spotty. Many European nations experienced very high death tolls last Spring but are relatively lower now. The US death toll is the highest it's ever been. In Ontario we're seeing 3,000, or so, cases a day but still don't see more than a few dozen deaths at the worst. The truth is, everywhere is suffering from COVID-19 right now. It's proving to be impossible to contain.

You're talking about people from outside coming to Toronto for care. That's where the big hospitals are. That makes sense. But it's the Toronto area hospitals that are filling up. My point is, dividing the number of hospitals by the number of hospitalized Covid-19 patients isn't exactly an accurate way of gauging how full certain hospitals are becoming. Do the staff go to these other hospitals as well?

So how do you reconcile both Arizona Senators also being Democrat? States swing back and forth. Obama won North Carolina and Iowa, but didn't win Georgia. It's interesting that you note the outlier of the 2016 election as the "trend" when discussing midwestern states. Those are close states, that's why they're the only ones that really matter. As for Florida and Texas, let's see what happens when the fear-mongering on socialism with Biden turn out to be just that.
-
You're the one that says "isolate the vulnerable". Yet you really haven't put a whole lot of thought into who that may be. The reason the Death toll in the US is so high is that a lot of Americans are vulnerable.

So it should terrify Democrats that the GOP have pretty much zero chance to win the popular vote ever again? And, from now on, they only need to focus on 5 or so states to win any POTUS election going forward. It was a record turnout because Trump was so unpopular. There are many former Red States that are becoming more purple as time goes on. This election it's Arizona and Georgia. In 2024 it could easily be North Carolina and Texas.

What if you're a 45 year old that's 350 lbs? Does the government pay you to stay home? Like if you reach a certain BMI you're asked to not go outdoors because the government can't afford to handle it if you get COVID-19. You're having a party, because free people should be allowed to party. The party can be as large as you want. BUT, if you invite someone with a Co-morbidity $10,000 ticket.

They also didn't discount the possibility of him winning. Trumpers don't tend to participate in traditional polling.
-
The election would have been framed much differently. One point to consider is that Trump's popularity didn't change much over the course of his term. So perhaps COVID-19 didn't actually effect his fortunes that much. You really can't blame him for the economic downturn. It would have happened regardless of who was in power.
-
It definitely polarizes your country and makes legislative progress next to impossible.
-
That's not true. His loss wasn't a certainty.
