I wonder if people in Germany, Spain, Italy and France are freaking out that Canada is beating them in vaccination.

Since we're not... no.
Canada is only giving one dose four months apart. No one in the world is waiting four months for a second dose and there's little science behind that decision.

Getting the most number of people some protection is better than getting half that number full protection.
