There's uncertainty about when it will start flowing freely again, and also about how much Iran's production will go down due to this war. Oil/gas/LNG are global necessities, and now there is an impending scarcity issue. Countries that sell those things are happy, countries that have to buy them are sad. Our dollar's strength is being given a huge boost right now because our nation's main export commodities are suddenly worth more money. Not because of anything that Carney said or did. How the LPoC Screwed Canada: If the LPoC hadn't squashed our fossil fuel economy, we would be doing far better right now. Not just because of the recent global supply issue, but also because we would be in a better position to deal with US trade aggression right now if we had more pipelines, production and refinement capability.
