  1. 300,000 x 0.65 cents = 195 000 People willfully neglect that our dollar, not too long ago, was properly in line or close to being in line with the American numbers. The appreciation of our dollar and the lag in people demanding the price they 'paid' for their home and where it should be on the worldly level can be a considerable one. It woudl take immigrants being unwilling to pay the rates, who move to the states instead.
  2. Heaven forbid the purchasing power of a dollar increases...
  3. Adjusting for inflation is not a pay raise. Government and corporations pretty much mandates that there be inflation. If your pay does not follow inflation, you are getting a pay cut as corporations and government ensure that inflation continues. For the longest time, I remember my father didn't get a raise for almost 10 years as a teacher. That would be unheard of in the private sector. if you didn't get a raise from 2000-2010, that's cut of over 20% in what you can actually afford.
  4. I think you are forgetting that Israel was just placed on the map. Israel would have become "the spoils of war" for the surrounding Arab nations if it wasn't for being propped up by western nations with miltary technology. It's easy to roll over infantry with tanks. Not noble or anything like you suggest above in bolded part.
  5. To be purposefully blind, like many ideological people are to other options than their own, one would have to have heard of it before. That just seems like one random blogger. Climate change is real. The climate has always been changing and we do have our part in changing the climate but, It's not like we are going to wake up tomorrow to category 6 hurricanes.
  6. Throw a Republican in power... see how quickly he kneels, begs and rolls over
  7. Maybe 12 years is more reasonable. It would take being relected twice to get 50% of the senate filled.
  8. I'm a fan of using more green energy, even if my bills cost a bit more. Tim Hudak's quest to destroy our green energy plan does not appeal to me. I want Ontario to become an innovator and leader in future technologies that are sustainable. Bring those jobs here. I don't want more privatization. For those who claim that privatization is efficient. Consider that profit is highest when there is a shortage of electricity and brownouts (high cost to consumer, and no incremental cost to power company) and building another plant actually reduces profits.
  9. I think your ideology is an example of exactly why public service workers need unions. Like minded individuals who feel that everyone working for the public service is less worthy of a paycheque to feed their family and live. Does it get out of hand? Well, lets be honest. No one forces government to make ridiculous labour deals, they just agree instead of suffering the political outcomes. I find it concerning though... everyone will slander public service employees for having secure jobs and reasonable pay and demand that public service employees get their wages slashed when times are bad. Where are these people when times are good saying that their wages should reflect the boom in the economy? The argument of "but they are paid with tax dollars" is bullisht. Everyone pays each others wage. Maybe I should go demand that the mechanic lower his wage because I pay his wage to do my oil changes... I mean, the work rate is pretty high for a simple oil change... or the accountant for my business... Maybe I should tell the manager at McDonald's to take a wage cut the next time i'm in. I pay his wage now and then and I think he is paid too much. How about we just lower everyone's wage so that we all pay less, oh wait.
  10. How are they less accountable than the private sector?
  11. I'm saying they should not be able to discriminate based on gender. You can warp it any way you want.
  12. It doesn't take that long to verify. Just use google
  13. Yeah. if they were elected. But they are appointed. They end up speaking for all of Canada because they actually represent no one.
  14. They both represent people in Canada. Senators represent all of Canada. MP's represent the riding. They failed to get elected to represent people in the riding that they live in and should have the best chance to get elected in. The people they live near rejected them. As a reward of being rejected, they get appointed to Senate. They now represent all of Canada in the Senate, including those ridings.
  15. Shady is another example of how conservatives are less educated. Fascism is an extreme right wing trait. Communism is an extreme left wing trait. Totalitarianism is what he is talking about, the extreme of being Authoritarian.
  16. Fiscal irresponsibility at it's finest.
  17. I disagree with insurance companies being able to charge men more than woman for car insurance. Women get in more accidents than men, men are more likely to get themselves killed... but the insurance money ends up going to their surviving wives/ex-wives anyways! Charging insurance based on your genes predisposition to disease? That is capitalism for you. The disgusting side of capitalism. "why should I pay for someone who is more likely to get cancer based on genes" - Conservative Minded Individual Well, they didn't make a choice to get genes that are more likely to get cancer... I would however, agree with being able to not hire smokers because they work less, take more days off and are less productive on the job. Because that is a choice you make.
  18. Yeah! let's cut the jets and jails too! I assume you agree! Since we are talking about fiscal responsibility...
  19. Fiscal irresponsibility costs everyone in the system more. Trimming unnecessary funding and preventing run away spending before it goes too far ensures that services stay efficient and effective for tax payers. Debt from providing unsustainable services today, means that tomorrow's services will suffer. http://www.fin.gc.ca/tax-impot/2010/html-eng.asp Our debt payments are 11 cents for every tax dollar. Imagine what we could do with $29.4 Billion a year if our previous leaders had been more fiscally responsible. $29.4B to invest in small start-up businesses and spur innovation. $29.4B to improve health care. $29.4B that is wasted on nothing more than servicing our debt. What other number is 29.4Billion close to... Hmmm.... Oh that's right, the deficit! The cycle should be: 1 increase funding and increase services, if sustainable. 2 trim the fat that is spent unnecessarily. Too bad, the cycle of the two statements above is pretty much a myth in Canada. All parties spend money, they just spend it differently.
  20. No, you are arguing a slippery slope argument and taking the meaning out of context.
  21. I'm sure the Conservatives have the answer. They spend enough on polling to know. I'm for changing the way senators get their jobs. There needs to be more accountability or at very least, a limited term.
  22. I guess that means that they should be aiming for 45-60 seats. I don't live out east. Is there demand for a maritime union?
  23. ...and then Shady completely ignores it demanding a 'count'. I mean, I guess I'd be skeptical too if I ate all of the conservative party lines and swallowed them hook, line and sinker. His world must be shattering around him. How can he survive without a media boogeyman that is 'anything other than hard right'. We found a lost puppy craving attention. Nothing more. We should stop feeding the troll.
  24. That's an American political term that does not apply to Canada. You are just using it to slander the Liberal party.
  25. Translation: Hey guys, look at me. LOOOK AT MEEEE!!! I want to address an already resolved issue. One more post!!! YEahhhhhhh.... oh yeah..... feels good. Thanks for the laugh
