Because all of the polls clearly show people being excited to vote for the Tories?

The people spreading fear are acting as if over half of his cabinet would be freshman MPs from Quebec. That would not happen, of course. Most of his government would be from existing MPs...and Mulclair, a great MP, would be his successor.

NDP: Official Opposition or Jack Layton as PM?

Cost of living goes up with respect to other countries, yes; however, as long as there are executive salary and profit caps, higher wages result in not as high prices, but you can get higher tax revenue which can be reinvested into the community for better services and a higher standard of living. This eventually feeds itself into increasing the value of the country's economy and currency. -

Why do you care nothing for people inside your own? We aren't talking about provinces... we are talking about federally. If you want to talk about provinces, go to St John's, Halifax, Charlottetown, Fredericton, Quebec City, Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Edmonton, Victoria, Whitehorse, Yellowknife, or Iqaluit. Companies have to pay a price for settling somewhere, period. Property is property. Income is income. Services are services. Also, I'm pretty sure companies care about having a well-educated, healthy workforce. The ones that don't are the ones that take their jobs to China. -

That's more of a moderate approach that is neither conservative nor socialistic as it adapts some of the better aspects of socialist systems into a capitalistic society. -

Why do you care more about workers in other countries than those in your own? It's a problem that runs rampant with North American conservatives. Also, the government wouldn't be in the situation they are in now if corporations decided to responsibly handle themselves in the first place. -
One thing I'm loving about Tories with respect to the NDP: "If the NDP wins it'll just be like Bob Rae in Ontario!!!!11" But if you bring up the successful Saskatchewan/BC/Nova Scotia governments.. "The NDP party federally is nothing like the provincial NDP parties."

No, however encouraging sweatshop behaviors is not good either. If we work on ourselves first... THEN we can help others. We can't help others while we are self destructing. That's why the individual tax rate is 30-40% and the corporate tax rate is in the upper teens. Corporations still have to pay their share, though. Because if they don't, they will see an ever-decreasing skilled workforce and have to move anyways. See how this works? -

It's better than a flight of capital with no return, encouraging slave labor, and having a lack of jobs. There is a decent sector of the population that could have many of those lower-skilled jobs just fine. Better them to be employed than not... or do the conservatives really want to keep these people on welfare as a political point? It would not always be people with Master's Degrees, etc. If you control the profit of companies and salaries of board members and executives so they don't get out of control and efficiently spread the money around, you won't have a problem with $400 shoes, etc. -

Exactly. A FTA between Canada and the US is great (although Canada should help protect their local corporations from takeover by US companies). A FTA that includes Mexico is not as good. A free trade agreement between any east asian country besides Japan is terrible. -

Are you being facetious? Wasn't it the NDP that introduced universal healthcare to Canada? Isn't it the liberals in the US that introduced public education and have attempted to introduce universal healthcare? -

Free Trade Agreements and low to no tariffs have ruined job opportunities in the western world, for one. Also corporations have to use infrastructure and services as well, and likewise, they should have to pay for it. They should help pay for education as well to help ensure that they have a well educated workforce... as well as healthcare to help ensure that they have a healthy workforce. It's mutually beneficial and in their interests to ensure these things. Conservatives, of course, fail to think of things like this. -

Harper will probably work for some Christian Families group or for the oil lobby. Iggy will go back to academia. Duceppe will be working for sovereigntist causes until at some time he can take the reins of the PQ. Their replacements? For the CPC, probably Flaherty until he can be replaced by Wall. For the LPC, Trudeau. For the Bloc, who cares? Maybe Marois and Duceppe will trade places. Jack will be PM for about 3 yearsish until he is replaced by Mulclair who will be followed by Wall as PM. -
I feel like we are lacking a variety in election polls that other elections have seen from major firms (Where is Strategic Counsel, Angus Reid's once-every-3-days polling, and Harris Decima?) Is it just because of the holidays?

Yes, if Canada and America (same discussion in both countries) want to look like third world countries. The race to the bottom by seeking out cheap near-slave labor needs to stop. -
Libby Davis - Deputy Prime Minister of Canada

On the flip side, we could also talk about the "fruitloops" and "goofball beliefs" of the Conservative Party of Canada. Shall we start with Brad Trost? How about him for Deputy MP if the CPC shall be able to form a government? -

The only way to bring the jobs back is to make the costs higher for Canadian companies to operate manufacturing and jobs overseas than in Canada through tariffs, extended taxing, etc. -

A conservative attempting to argue about education while simultaneously calling the Nazis left wing revolutionaries. Sigh. This is why conservatives should never touch education. -

Yeah, because the Tories have such wonderful members. Remind me again how many were caught in various scandals? -
It's clear to pretty much everyone that doesn't make any sense.
