Why are you still talking to me about Liberals? What did you not comprehend about ... Maybe you should find someone to argue with who cares about the Lib-Con mudslinging spats. That wouldn't be me.
-
Recall, you accused Liberals of supporting terrorists. I considered making that statement "Nobody 'supports' terrorists ... except other terrorists" But I considered that self-evident to reasonable people. I still think it is.

Maybe you should find someone to argue with who cares about the Lib-Con mudslinging spats. That wouldn't be me. I'd like to see an election campaign based on the important issues we face in coping with climate change, discussion of real issues facing the country as a whole that don't insult our intelligence.

Why I am not Liberal anymore but cannot join the Conservatives
jacee replied to Olijam's topic in Political Philosophy
Abortion won't be brought up again by any political party. It is not a political issue anymore. Those who don't believe in abortion are free not to have one. If you take that out out of your political considerations, where do you end up? -
Climate change 'ideology' is a necessary component of all parties' platforms now because it's reality. The Greens just do it best.

1 I copied it. It came that way. 2 Trudeau's 'smear campaign', and this response.

Green Party lessons: https://www.macleans.ca/politics/the-green-wave-falls-just-short-in-prince-edward-island/ Historically, this is an incredible accomplishment for the Green Party,” he said, adding that it suggests there is a frustration with the normal way that politics is done, including the acrimony and constant attacks. “What both those parties did in this campaign is say ‘No, we’re different.’” Ten lessons from 10 elections: Peter Bevan-Baker’s political advice Although I repeatedly lost, I never lost heart. Always treat your fellow candidates respectfully. Take the high road: criticize ideas, not people. Use your inner strength to influence others candidates’ behaviour. Get your partner’s blessing before you run each and every time. Don’t embarrass your children. Speak and act authentically at all times. Enjoy the cumulative wisdom that comes from campaign experience. Maintain and utilize often your sense of humour. Strive to re-establish nobility in politics.

Why is Bernier against condeming white supremacy?
jacee replied to -1=e^ipi's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Bernier is acting a bit strange. Fortunate that he's no longer likely to be PM. But kinda sad. -
Why is Bernier against condeming white supremacy?

Do you think white supremacists represent "an entire ethnicity", as Bernier does? -
Why is Bernier against condeming white supremacy?

I just have to ask ... How do you interpret this statement? And yet, he’s been warning us for weeks about the dangers of “white supremacy,” equating an entire ethnicity with terrorism. -
Why is Bernier against condeming white supremacy?
jacee replied to -1=e^ipi's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Maxime Bernier thinks white supremacists represent all white people. He has clearly lost not just his confidential government files this time, but his entire supply of marbles. -
Yes, of course it is. And you have just pointed out that our system is working: The influx of asylum-seekers from the US is not of our making, they are being processed, yes there are backlogs, some qualify as refugees and many don't. What evidence can you provide that the problem is "growing"? That's not my understanding. 'Corporate Canada' has a right to express an opinion. Governments may or may not 'take orders' from them, depending how it plays for them politically, who their political donors are, etc. That's just the usual political gaming, and as Michael says "Why should we stop now?" I think we should take away some of the power of Corporate Canada to control our politicians, by implementing Proportional Representation. I think That's a much more important issue for the next federal election than immigration.

Grassy Narrows Mercury Contamination
jacee replied to Robert Greene's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
http://freegrassy.net/2016/06/19/on-ignored-confession-of-toxic-mercury-dump-upstream-from-grassy-narrows/ I suggest you go on up there and satisfy yourself of the facts. We'll believe you. -
Don’t make election about immigration, corporate Canada tells political leaders https://www.nationalnewswatch.com/2019/04/26/dont-make-election-about-immigration-corporate-canada-tells-political-leaders/#.XMQn0-FE00N I certainly agree. Don't make the election about xenophobia. We have always benefited from immigration, and we will always plan for immigration to meet our economic needs and accept refugees to meet our international obligations. This nonsense is just a distraction from our real challenge: Moving from an outdated economy always too heavily reliant on extraction industries to a sustainable industrial model and planning to meet the financial demands of climate change.

The new Ontarian Islamic Party
jacee replied to QuebecOverCanada's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Muslims in Canada came here to get away from extremism. Canada is not an Islamic state. No religion in Canada is a threat to me because I choose not to participate. There is no threat to our democracy. Such catastrophizing is not reality-based and not helpful. It is nonsense. -
Grassy Narrows Mercury Contamination

Over 5 decades of continuous mercury poisoning and government inaction is a serious issue. Please be respectful. -
Grassy Narrows Mercury Contamination

Blaming is irrelevant. Being responsible means we have to correct it. The problem doesn't go away because 'it's not our fault'. -

Teachers don't teach the content of religions and we don't have to respect the content of anyone's religion (eg, I think all religions are stupid.). But we do have to refrain from discriminating and inciting hatred against people because of their religion. You can't smear all Muslims in Canada because of the actions of some extremists elsewhere who claim that religion. These are fine distinctions, I know, but important in a civilized society and important in law in Canada. And this thread is doomed ...
