  1. I do find it necessary to draw discussions back to the Canadian context. Some people are not here for discussion, but with a consistent agenda of inciting and promoting hatred against Muslims.
  2. Airbnb has to be regulated at the municipal level, so there's a wide variety of approaches. The real problems are occurring in cities, where developers are building whole condo complexes largely dedicated to STR's, limiting LTR availability. So some cities are now limiting STR's to (eg) 20% of units. That makes sense. Also, realtors are buying houses and using them for STR income. That also limits LTR availability and affects other residents and neighbourhoods. I'm not sure how you regulate that. Airbnb started as student couch-surfing and has morphed into largely high-end splashy executive condo suites that raised the bar for ratings and put Mom&Pop suites at risk.
  3. You disagree with what? Did you read the link?
  4. We don't live in a Sharia controlled society.
  5. We don't live in Brunei.
  6. All out against PEGIDA, May 5, Toronto: https://www.facebook.com/events/637727846679804/?ti=cl There's a white supremacist rally in Toronto about every other month. https://www.nationalobserver.com/2019/03/24/news/hundreds-blocked-small-far-right-crowd-spreading-hateful-message-toronto https://nowtoronto.com/news/canada-islamophobic-groups/ Interesting piece on the "white nationalist poster girl" Faith Goldy: In short, an orthodox Catholic traumatised by an abusive father, loss of wealth and status when her mother divorced him, then the death of her mother, the private school and UT grad who adores the spotlight found her audience in the white supremacist world, and recently married a virulent ant-Semite, horrifying her Jewish godmother ... https://www.thecut.com/2018/11/faith-goldy-toronto-white-nationalist-poster-girl.html There is good reason to be concerned about white supremacists in Canada, anti-Muslim being the current popular focus of hate groups. However, Trudeau is just using it as a propaganda campaign against Scheer, and I don't believe we should be having a mud-slinging federal election campaign focused on that issue. The two major parties are wallowing in their own corruption and white supremacy as election platforms. Time to stop the seesaw?
  7. It's not known how far she'd go, and her smitten minions. I believe she's married to an anti-semite. Not to be dismissed.
  8. It doesn't make you anything. Shariah law is only for Muslims. Like Canon law is for Catholics, Halakha is Jewish law, etc.
  9. Oh they're both circling the bottom of the barrel. Goldy loves it when the boys fight about her.
  10. Ya. I hope Goldy keeps photobombing him!
  11. We're going to have an election about white supremacists. I think they're circling the bottom of the barrel now.
  12. I don't like purpose built or purchased Airbnb. It isn't fair. And it does affect other residents. Seniors renting part to stay in their house? I think that's awesome. But developers and realtors using it as a business? Nah.

  14. Yes. They're all just ordinary conservatives'.
  15. Do most conservatives claim white supremacists as their own? Do most conservatives fear 'replacement' of the white race by people of colour? Does that motivate most conservatives to hate crimes? https://www.vice.com/en_ca/article/vbwaq9/christchurch-shooting-suspect-donated-to-a-far-right-group-active-in-canada Evan Balgord, the director of the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, described identitarianism to VICE as the “European version of the alt-right neo-Nazi movement” and said “here in Canada the largest single group... is ID Canada, formerly known as Generation Identity Canada.” The people at the Anti-Racist Canada blog has found numerous connections between ID Canada and the Canadian white nationalist movement in which they outline in detail. Or ... are most Canadian white supremacists just trying to disguise themselves as conservatives? And which are you?
  16. Folks, Can we please stick to the topic of what should be done about mercury contamination at Grassy Narrows? There are several other threads for expounding on your views of what 'should' be done about Indigenous Peoples in general. To recap: The Feds have already promised a clinic, but it hasn't been funded yet. ONTARIO is responsible for the pulp mill, and thus for mercury cleanup, but hasn't done so yet.
  17. Yup. Think the Conservatives are any different? We need a real change.
  18. Thanks Charles. On topic: 2016 ONTARIO IGNORED TOXIC MERCURY DUMP http://freegrassy.net/2016/06/19/on-ignored-confession-of-toxic-mercury-dump-upstream-from-grassy-narrows/ Not yet. Hey ... Doug Ford can mosey on up in his Grey Goose party RV and clean up the buried barrels. Ask his Party pr people: What are Ontario PC's doing to clean up the leaking barrels of mercury at Grassy Narrows? [email protected]
  19. My guess is DoP is more of a virulent hard-right Israel fan. Anti-Muslim sentiment and propaganda are shared among far right white nationalists and far right Israel supporters. In Canada, they tried to create a combined group for a while, and a national rally in Toronto, but it crashed due to infighting and bad publicity. No doubt the white supremacists couldn't hide their antisemitism for long. Lol The 'World Coalition Against Islam' is no more, but the shared anti-Muslim sentiment still exists.
  20. And Faith Goldy is now banned from Facebook ... along with others. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/janelytvynenko/facebook-bans-faith-goldy-canadian-white-nationalists Facebook will ban Faith Goldy, Soldiers of Odin, the Canadian Nationalist front, and other hate groups from across its platforms, the company said on Monday. The ban will extend to any Facebook groups, pages, and Instagram accounts associated with those banned, which also includes Kevin Goudreau, Wolves of Odin, and the Aryan Strikeforce. These individuals and organizations have expressed white nationalist sentiments and violate Facebook’s policy on dangerous individuals and organizations, which bans “terrorist activity, organised hate, mass or serial murder, human trafficking, organised violence, or criminal activity.” “Facebook banning Faith Goldy was the test here in Canada that this policy would be meaningful,” said Evan Balgord, the executive director of the Canadian Anti-Hate Network which tracks white supremacism and hate in the country. “The groups they are banning are only the tip of the iceberg in Canada and there are several others that should also be on that list.” Paul Fromm should be on that list too. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/paul-fromm-1.5061974?__vfz=medium%3Dsharebar
  21. Petition: Find the dumped mercury barrels and help the people of Grassy Narrows https://secure.canadians.org/page/39427/action/1?locale=en-CA
  22. You conveniently avoided this part of my previous reply: "2) Levels of immigration, sure. Understand the reasons, and do the math on the benefits too. And disaster and refugees happen. "Values" of immigrants? F*ck off. That's xenophobic code for 'no Muslims'. We have freedom of religion. We don't have a values test. A lot of us couldn't pass one either. We have laws. We have law enforcement. We have a justice system." Are you clear on that now? Unless you violate Canadian laws, you are free to think, speak and believe as you choose in Canada, whether you are an immigrant, refugee or 10th generation Canadian. Discussion of levels of immigration is a legitimate issue always open, and always based on many factors ... but who they are, where they come from, what their religious beliefs and 'values' are, whether they look and dress like you ... is never on the table. We got rid of discrimination in immigration decades ago.
  23. Researchers to probe Canada’s evolving far-right movements NEWS Mar 06, 2019 https://www.thespec.com/news-story/9209841-researchers-to-probe-canada-s-evolving-far-right-movements/ "In her 2015 report, co-authored with researcher Ryan Scrivens, Perry suggested there were at least 100 white supremacist and Neo-Nazi groups active in Canada, as well as roughly 30,000 individuals involved with "sovereign citizen" philosophies that typically reject Canadian laws. Perry told the Star last year that, between 2015 and 2018, the number of groups active across the country increased by as much as 25 per cent. But she now says that might have been an overly conservative estimate. "Now that we've started to sort of list the groups and name them … we're getting close to 300 groups," Perry told the Star in an interview, noting that number includes multiple chapters of the same umbrella group." When Doug Ford, Andrew Scheer, Maxime Bernier etc are cozying up to white supremacists, they multiply.
