Most of the Biblical stories are open to interpretation, and were adapted from older stories from other cultures.

And next week it will be because somebody's dog chased a gasoline truck. Then it will be because somebody at a refinery farted and started a panic, and on and on and on...

May 21 is Judgement Day according to Christian nutter group.

I always say that Pat Robertson is one of those "false prophets". He is always predicting doom and gloom, but it never happens. -
There are groups who want to install a theocratic government in the US. Pat Robertson has advocated this for years. He has said he would force all non-Christians to convert or be expelled from the US. He wants to make church attendance mandatory, and would imprison those who do not attend. He and his ilk would limit women's rights, and force a "Christian dress code" on all Americans. Stoning for adultery would be implemented, and a harsher category for the death sentence would also appear (including blasphemy). Homosexuals would be put to death. Those are all things the Taliban did in Afghanistan using Islam as a reason. Little difference except the name of the faith. Thank goodness the greater majority of Americans are too smart to buy into those kinds of ideas.

Oh, I am aware of that. It is just funnier when it comes from religious types. -

The Rapture was created by a 19th Century clergyman. NOWHERE in the Bible is it mentioned. -

If he can ever decide which party he supports. Him and Ujal Dosanjh. -
Did I ever say I supported Muslim terrorists? I decry their actions as I do those of Christian terrorists (note how little is ever said about them, even though they DO exist). However, I am also wise enough to know that not all Christians are terrorists, just as all Muslims are not terrorists. Unfortunately, too many people do think all Muslims ARE terrorists.

NDP Constitution - An exercise in Marxism
scouterjim replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Did you perhaps note that I said "in the 1920's". The NDP has mellowed since the days of the Regina Manifesto. -
As I pointed out, freedom of religion is supposed to mean ALL in the US, not just a certain segment. When one segment tries to prevent another from following their faith, that is bigotry. Watch the news clips of "good Christians" trying to stop the building of mosques. These men were singled out, and deplaned due to their faith. No other reason.

Little different from Muslim fundamentalists in that regard, aren't they?

NDP Constitution - An exercise in Marxism
scouterjim replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The CCF (later called NDP) was formed in the 1920's when the less radical socialists left the Communist party out of fear of arrest by the RCMP for being subversives. -
My shares have done nothing but earn me money throughout this entire recession. I am invested in a brewing company, and when times are tough, beer sales rise. Rising beer sales mean bigger profits. Bigger profits mean dividends on my shares. That all equals $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Does that include those Christian sects who dress like it is the 1880's? I am no fan of Muslim fundamentalists, but then, I am no fan of Christian fundamentalists either. I am against anybody who tries to push their faith on anybody else, but apparently the two men in question did nothing like this. They dresssed as they were comfortable dressing, but to the bigots on that plane, that was wrong.
