  1. Sorry DoP, see above post... Talking to myself today...
  2. I'm NOT that worried because of a Conservative Premier named Duff Roblin that was a visionary and built "Duff's Ditch"... And an NDP Government when led by now Ambassador to the US Gary Doer expanded it... Think we'll be OK in Winnipeg, between you and me, especially in ND, well, that's pretty much YOUR PROBLEM, eh... But we'll be here to help you out when you call us just like last time... You're welcome...
  3. Thanks for making my point... If YOUR hypothethis for small government and individual autonomy were ever to occur that would be the result... The difference IS the Goverment along with the ENTIRE system of Government... Thanks for playing...
  4. 1. Are you ever gonna go look after your crying sheep? They're still waiting anxiosly for you...
  5. Bang you're dead... They didn't like you... Try again?
  6. Read it... George Orwell's 1984
  7. You speak Arabic? Unfortunately I don't...
  8. Still your move... What's your answer?
  9. Your live in your utopian little house... One day a large streetgang moves in next door to you on the right side and opens up a crack house... The next day the Hell's Angels move in next door to you on the left side and makes that house a headquarters for their organization... Your move? Remember you are not allowed to move from your house, you have the RIGHT to stay in it and not the RIGHT to move from it (that would require a beaurocracy of government or at least a lot of money that you don't have)... Your new neighbours have the same RIGHTS you do... What do you do next?
  10. One has to assume that our own Mr. Harper is watching the events in Wisconsin with great interest... Watching with glee if Walker and Co. win... Watching with trepidation should the protesters succeed... How Harper Governs (IF he wins and whether or not with a majority) after the next election may very well be determined by this outcome... Unfortunately the "strength" of the protesters and the fact that hundreds of thousands of people, both unionists and non unionists, have not already joined them in this fight, does not bode well for the outcome in Wisconsin and other states with simular issues... Might be something to think about in the next Canadian Federal Election...
  11. Everyday as I watch what's happening in Arab countries whose regimes and economies where close reflection of exactly what these people ASPIRE to for the US and Canada... And how the people there are willing to die for a fraction of the freedoms we enjoy daily I someTIMEs wish there was a way I could give these people exactly what they wish for... At the LOWEST rung of such a society... A life being lived by people now in abject poverty with no rights or services and little hope for the future... These people that post like that deserve that life mush more so than those living it now... And I wish them a long life under those conditions... Nuff said...
  12. Here's a better excerpt from that same oped - - The foundation of this unwritten constitution has to be this principle: make everybody hurt. The cuts have to be spread more or less equitably among as many groups as possible. There will never be public acceptance if large sectors of society are excluded. Governor Walkers program fails that test. It spares traditional Republican groups (even cops and firefighters). It is thus as unsustainable as the current tide of red ink. Moreover, the constitution must emphasize transparent evaluation. Over the past weeks, Governor Walker increased expenditures to pump up small business job creation and cut them on teacher benefits. That might be the right choice, but if voters are going to go along with choices such as these, there is going to have to be a credible evaluation process to explain why some things are cut and some things arent. - < by edit> Walker gave his Republican friends $67 Million in Tax Cuts in his first few weeks in office... This guy's a turd and should be lynched (figuratively speaking of course)...
  13. THE COSTS OF RAISING CHILDREN - Based on estimates from the economics section of Manitoba Agriculture, the cost of raising a daughter to age 18 in 2004 was an average of $166,549. For boys, the figure was slightly higher – at $166,972 – due to extra costs for food. Raising a child can be an expensive undertaking, with the first year being the most expensive. In 2004, over $10,000 was needed to raise a child to age 1. Parents spent the least amount of money – close to $7,000 – when their children reached age 12. Expenses for both boys and girls then began to rise again as they entered their teenaged years. - ADD to that approx. $50,000 (and constantly rising) for a University Education, lost productivity from the Parent(s) and adjusted to 2011 (post recession) dollars, it would CONSERVATIVELY round out to about $300,000 per child in Canada (much higher in many jurisdictions)... Irrelevent indeed as long as YOU don't have to raise one... I've raised 2 successful sons, you? BTW - you win the award for the stupidest statement I've read since being on this forum and I've read some doozies... Besides totally contradicting yourself those parents foot the $300,000 bill for the each child or parents... They have to GUARANTEE that in order to sponsor them... Meaning those immigrants (per family) you're raving on about are ADDING MILLIONS to the Canadian economy MOST, that's right MOST, immigrants MUST speak some passable English in order to even fill out the first of many application forms to even be considered for immigration to Canada... Another totally ignorant of any facts statement... Quite the contrary, I'm advocating that Canada implement a means of TESTING and CERTIFYING the skillsets that immigrants bring to this country to best utilize those skills... Like testing certifying foreign trained Doctors to be able to WORK as Doctors in areas of Canada were Canadian Graduated Doctors don't want to go instead of having them working in those menial jobs you seem to think is the only work they can do... Save those for Canada's "dropouts", there's enough of them... Oh, and incidentally, I'm an immigrant that came to Canada as a child... So I find your rant rather offensive because I can GUARANTEE you I've done and contributed at least 1000 times what YOU will ever do or contribute to Canada in your lifetime...
  14. Some threads I've found to be informative, funny, and generally a good read, others, I agree, not so much... As to the second part of your post I find that literally unbelievable and totally agree with your assessment...
  15. Thanks, that's what I thought...
  16. I don't think so in this case... The Liberals proved that in the purchase of the current CF-18s... Here are the reasons in black and white from last October why the Liberals are questioning this purchase and they are the same reasons I extensively outlined on the other thread about this... http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=18065&view=findpost&p=630335 (btw - can the two threads be COMBINED - they really should be)
  17. I hope you didn't take my comment "personal"... The "YOU" referred to ALL Republicants of the Bushy persuasion... I know, your sheep are crying for you too...
  18. Naaa, electing a PM that sells out Canada to US interests is a Canadian problem... One that seems to still exist today... Perhaps even more so than it did back then... Diefenbaker, Moroney and now Harper, all 3 cut from the same cloth, and all three sold (or in Harpers case are selling) Canada down the river to the U.S. of A.... The truest, and nastiest, thing YOU can say about certain Canadians is that they're SLOW learners, with weak minds, and short memories... WOW! I just realized, that I just described REpublicans as well... Two birds with one stone, I'm getting GOOD at this...
  19. Nope, not the only one, I read whole threads too, it's a great way to become informed (and often entertained) instead of remaining ignorant about what's going on...
  20. We all do! At least those of us who swore never again to vote for the party in power that destroyed Canada's last chance to be a "player" in international military aviation sales, that being John (Dief the Chief) Diefenbaker and the CONSERVATIVES... Lest we forget...
  21. I am standing up looking down at YOU lying down and seeming to enjoy being the American Corporations' "bitch"... BTW, your sheep are still waiting for you to give them your much needed attention...
  22. Ghadaffi thanks you for your support...
  23. - Last week, Alan Williams, the former Assistant Deputy Minister of defence responsible for procurement, testified before Parliament that it was a mistake to go to a sole-source competition and that an open competition would get the best fighter at the lowest price with the most jobs. In a vitriolic response, Stephen Harper said that Mr. Williams had changed his opinion since he was in government a charge that Mr. Williams called an absolute lie. This is the single largest military procurement in Canadian history, said Liberal Defence Critic Dominic LeBlanc. We are deeply concerned that the government hasnt been straight with Canadians, and that without competition, were not getting the right plane, the best price, or the greatest benefits for our aerospace industry. Mr. Garneau and Mr. LeBlanc set out the following questions on the F-35 deal: 1. What are the defence priorities and the domestic and foreign mission requirements that our new fighter jets must be able to support? 2. What are the roles, capabilities and operational performance requirements that any new fighter must be able to meet in order to support these future domestic and international priorities and missions? 3. What evidence does the government have to demonstrate that their deal gets the right equipment for our Air Force while achieving the following: a. The lowest cost and best value for taxpayer dollars, with controls to prevent cost escalation; and b. Guaranteed regional benefits with a transfer of intellectual property to grow the Canadian aerospace industry, including in-service support? Without compelling answers to each of these questions, we dont understand why the government is sole-sourcing a plane chosen by the Pentagon, said Mr. LeBlanc. It seems like all of our NATO allies are questioning the skyrocketing costs of the F-35, so why is the Canadian government alone in writing a blank cheque to Lockheed Martin with no questions asked? There is no penalty for cancelling the current deal and holding an open competition for our next fighter jet. A Liberal government would remain committed to the 2006 Memorandum of Understanding that gives Canadian industry access to F-35 contracts, without any obligation to purchase the planes. If the Conservatives dont provide us with satisfactory answers, we will cancel this deal and hold an open competition upon forming government, concluded Mr. Garneau. An open competition which could still result in the selection of the F-35 would provide better value to taxpayers, guarantee industrial regional benefits for manufacturing and maintenance, and result in knowledge transfer to help build our aerospace industry. - http://www.dominicleblanc.ca/ Much more - http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=17363&view=findpost&p=593400
  24. Nope, quess again... THEY are a lot smarter than us...
  25. No way... The Tory's are the ones SPENDING it (just because it's there and it's tax payer dollars doesn't mean you have to spend it, kudos to the NDP and Libs who aren't)... The reason they want to kill it is because they're in big business's pocket and aren't gonna run short by killing it... That's when Canada's version of Wisconsin will come to the fore... Can hardly wait for Canada's big Corps. to start running our country like the US's big corps. run the states... Democracy in action... NOT!
