Would the liberals win with LeBlanc as leader?
GWiz replied to William Ashley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Not at all... Nothing wrong with "business" (Corporations Included) unless profit turns to greed... I'm a devout "capitalist" myself so I certainly have no problem with that... IMO there should be the same sort of seperation between state and business as there is (or at least should be) between church (read religion) and state... Of course in reality it's somewhat more complicated than that... Even to start to explain my views in detail would take a book... But as a simple, easy to understand, comparative example of my thinking: I have no problem with our Government aiding in the funding of an entity like CIDA (seperation of church and state)... I had no problem with the Government having a grant program to assist home owners in upgrading their homes to be more energy efficient which in turn helps local businesses doing the upgrading (seperation of state and business)... No problem... From my point of view I think that the person elected in a riding should represent the people that elected him/her, the people in his/her riding (the constuent) AHEAD of any party affiliation... Right now it's the reverse, party before people if you will... I've always felt that way so nothing has changed for me between old and new... I also feel that what's best for the country as a whole should trump what's good for a party, and good (as well as bad) policies are NOT the domain of ANY one particular political party... The party in power should therefore make what's good for the country it's primary purpose not as it is now looking and doing ONLY what is good for the party... Utopian concepts I know, so don't bother telling me all the reasons these things CAN't be done... -
Hmmm, interesting take on things... Also fairly accurate I'm thinking... Won't happen overnight though... We'll see... Not too sure about the values thing being much different, greed and corruption being what it is...

We've been here since long before your species arrived on this planet and will be here long after you've gone... No minor species "owns" a planet, what a totally silly concept, humanity is nothing more than a form of virus to this planet, just as this planet is like (actually less than) a molecule to the universe... Sheeesh, it ain't the movies, so why do humans have so much fear and anger in them? (rhetorical question I already know) Just enjoy the brief "lifespan" you have here on Earth and don't worry so much, it's wasting your "lifespan"... It's YOU, so called humanity, that plunders and destroys things, including each other and including this planet (don't worry though, a planet can take care of itself, but it may not tolerate humanity much longer), not us... We watchers simply observe and report as we've always done... Have a great day...

You're most welcome...

Nope... FREE market society... Individual FREEDOM at it's very core... Well at least before Harper made his "nanny state" regulations on the banks telling them how to structure loans and mortgages so some people can't get loans or buy houses any more... Didn't affect me or anyone with some cash and no debt, but a young family starting out, well, "screw them", the Harper Gov. said...

I stand corrected... He gave Wisconsin TAX PAYERS' money to those Corporations...
-
That's a bald faced LIE... No one FORCES someone to go into debt, if you are in debt, you chose to be... I choose not to be and am not in debt... Don't make excuses, do without...

So is the fact that Walker GAVE $67 MILLION in tax breaks to Corporations that supported his campaign...

#192? Too late... You already LOST way back here (and several times after that) - http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=17890&view=findpost&p=630075 BTW - Soon as you're reduced to having to answer questions with questions (because you have no answers) you become a loser every TIME...

Does The NDP Still Have A Reason To Exist
GWiz replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Now, now, we just met, and I'm not THAT easy (though I can be had for the right price)... That's assuming you're attracted to a highly intelligent, bald, pot bellied, toothless, cantankerous, old coute like me in the first place of course... -

On the contrary, what I'm saying is in a technical 2 way race (cons vs libs) in that riding, based on the polling, statistical and historical DEMOGRAPHIC, without the active NDP influence, the Liberal would have won... Easily... -

They DO, $2 per vote, same for all of them, only the CONS are spending it every year BEFORE it expires once a writ is dropped... Very CONSERVATIVE of them don't you think? -

Not yet... And only the CONS are wasting the tax payer's money on advertising, same as last year, and nobody cares other than the opportunity it gives people to go to the fridge for more snacks... -

I can agree with that... OR a very pertinent to the general public event flips the vote once the writ is dropped and the public starts paying attention... -

Other numbers say different and of course the Globe (business paper) doesn't have a political bias right? -

Harper's 16 Billion Dollar Fighter Jet Purchase Plan
GWiz replied to William Ashley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yup, therefore at the highest risk if others pull out of the program because the costs are too high... As we've discussed before... -

Actually it's not hard to figure out at all, the numbers are all there... -
Jealous? Not that I blame you... Nobel Prize, successful film maker, author, public speaker... Not bad as a consolation prize... He may even be GLAD he lost, the rest of the world maybe not so much...
