  1. I agree with you... Which is what I was pointing out... It's not as simple as saying "we don't need immigrants because we can FORCE or ENTICE Canadians to have more babies" which is what Scotty was advocating... NO ONE considers the costs of raising a child as a factor in whether or not to have children, but to totally ignore that cost is to be blind to reality, especially once you have a child... It has a tremendous affect on one's life and lifestyle... A burden every loving parent readily accepts including immigrant parents... Irrelevent it isn't...
  2. If I differ with that opinion would you be upset?
  3. I win... You lose... Thanks for playing... Next!
  4. Chalk that one up to Lieberman, without him Gore would have won (he did anyway, but that's history and another story) and it would be a far better world today... Thank you, thank you very much...
  5. They already paid for that access via the JSF program...
  6. What's the population of Wisconsin?
  7. WOW! Way below the national average... The ex Gov. must have done a heck of a good job... Quite a contrast... Thanks...
  8. BOO! Hey, here's a novel idea what about RAISING TAXES as a way to get out of our debt crisis, especially those that can easily afford to contribute a little more for the benefit of the country or state? Scared?
  9. Surely no one else could come up with that...
  10. Pardon my ignorance but what is the unemployment rate in Wisconsin and how does it compare to the rest of the US?
  11. Aren't TAXES a BIG part of FREEing yourself from debt? What is more indicative of FREEDOM than that? What I can't understand is that a couple of the BILLIONAIRS in Wisconsin haven't stepped forward and FREEly gotten Wisconsin out of debt yet...

  13. Which brings us back to the issue at hand - - Last week, Alan Williams, the former Assistant Deputy Minister of defence responsible for procurement, testified before Parliament that it was a mistake to go to a sole-source competition and that an open competition would get the best fighter at the lowest price with the most jobs. In a vitriolic response, Stephen Harper said that Mr. Williams had changed his opinion since he was in government – a charge that Mr. Williams called an “absolute lie.” “This is the single largest military procurement in Canadian history,” said Liberal Defence Critic Dominic LeBlanc. “We are deeply concerned that the government hasn’t been straight with Canadians, and that without competition, we’re not getting the right plane, the best price, or the greatest benefits for our aerospace industry.” Mr. Garneau and Mr. LeBlanc set out the following questions on the F-35 deal: 1. What are the defence priorities and the domestic and foreign mission requirements that our new fighter jets must be able to support? 2. What are the roles, capabilities and operational performance requirements that any new fighter must be able to meet in order to support these future domestic and international priorities and missions? 3. What evidence does the government have to demonstrate that their deal gets the right equipment for our Air Force while achieving the following: a. The lowest cost and best value for taxpayer dollars, with controls to prevent cost escalation; and b. Guaranteed regional benefits with a transfer of intellectual property to grow the Canadian aerospace industry, including in-service support? “Without compelling answers to each of these questions, we don’t understand why the government is sole-sourcing a plane chosen by the Pentagon,” said Mr. LeBlanc. “It seems like all of our NATO allies are questioning the skyrocketing costs of the F-35, so why is the Canadian government alone in writing a blank cheque to Lockheed Martin with no questions asked?” There is no penalty for cancelling the current deal and holding an open competition for our next fighter jet. A Liberal government would remain committed to the 2006 Memorandum of Understanding that gives Canadian industry access to F-35 contracts, without any obligation to purchase the planes. “If the Conservatives don’t provide us with satisfactory answers, we will cancel this deal and hold an open competition upon forming government,” concluded Mr. Garneau. “An open competition – which could still result in the selection of the F-35 – would provide better value to taxpayers, guarantee industrial regional benefits for manufacturing and maintenance, and result in knowledge transfer to help build our aerospace industry.” - http://www.dominicleblanc.ca/ Much more - http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=17363&view=findpost&p=593400
  14. What's happened to Canada's education system? There was a TIME not that long ago that people would actually make some effort to know something about what they're talkinng about... So, what's your excuse?
  15. Ahhh, gottcha, just a little right of the Tea Partiers and 6 leagues till Sunday...
  16. Not to disagree with you but you've hit the nail on the head... I even agree to the concept... Which is why when Dr. Ray Pagtakan decided to change ridings after distribution and the Liberals ran a strong candidate for his old seat such a deal was struck with the fairly weak NDP candidate in said riding whereby she promised not to "actively campaign" against well known Terry Duguid the Liberal Candidate... Wouldn't you know it but at the direct behest of one Jack Layton, who CAME campaigning in that literally unwinable riding for the NDP with said candidate on 3 occasions and anyone who ever voted NDP (provincially) got a Lawn Sign (we had quite a number of our supporters having to call to have the signs removed, which took them several days to do )... What's worse was all literature distributed by the NDP in that riding targetted the LIBERALS with virtually no mention of the CONS... Result, as predictable, Joy Smith - CON... Thanks in no small part to Mr. Layton... So you'll pardon me if I'm a little hesitant when it comes to "bargaining" with the NDP... Oh, re your referrence to Kevin, I'd hate to tell you how many Liberal functions our friend Judy attended... And you and I both know that Kevin wasn't at any NDP convention unless he was invited (which he wasn't) and even then he'd have way too much class to ever hand out anything... Nice try though...
  17. Democracy by a majority is bad?
  18. I just had a look back through the thread and I think this is where I got "confused" between you and Pliny in the middle of the debate between Pliny and myself by a couple of quotation marks (you quoting Pliny)... http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=17890&view=findpost&p=630445 Senior moment...
  19. Indeed, perhaps I did just that, and I apologize if I did, you are definitely not Pliny to whom that should have been directed... Again, sorry for the misdirection to you, it was completely unintentional...
  20. None to YOU, you lost the jobs either way... NO wait, there is, you used to be able to get the HELP you were seeking in a language you could understand... Indian-English and Irish-English (et al) not so much... Works for me as long as it's a two way street... Wait? Let me think? That's RIGHT! YOU guys were COMPLAINING about that very thing about China! Whatta ya know... It came back to bite Americans in the ass...
  21. But is the MONEY? <by edit> BTW - There's MORE Government will in the US than there is in Canada under Harper...
  22. Ditto, and you got 15 less days than we do before the taxman cometh... Get busy, eh...
  23. EXACTLY RIGHT!!! There was and it was... Hard decisions were made and we ended up with a pretty good aircraft... Except for the "ad on benefits" that Moroney sent to Quebec instead of Manitoba where the infrastructure was already in place costing Canadians MILLIONS... Then Canada dropped the ball a bit by not keeping it up to "specs" so to speak when it counted... But you know all that in spades and are just TROLLING again, eh... Been there done that on the other thread, why aren't they COMBINED yet?
  24. My, my what some people have been FORCED to do...
