  1. Aww certainly, ill take that as a capitulation, if the best you can do is run back to the racist/bigot/stereotyping narrative, well, i guess the discussion is a bit bigger than you.
  2. That's different..anyway, if he said it, he should be gone.
  3. I must have missed it in the news, how many people have the KKK killed recently? That is such a non argument, anyway, just to be clear, everything the KKK did was wrong, beating that muslim woman in Toronto was wrong, burning the mosque, wrong. Using these minor incidents of Islamophobia, especially in response to Paris, as an excuse to navel gaze and distract us from the people who are killing people, also wrong.
  4. So much for being different, http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/500k-federal-ad-campaign-to-tout-refugee-plan-as-a-national-project-document-reveals though $500,000 isn't a lot, maybe the liberals are getting a discount after all it's important to tell us what we are supposed to be, "demonstrate Canada’s compassionate values and re-affirm our global leading role in refugee resettlement." Canada is back, or at least the liberals telling us what Canada is, is.

I don't agree with this spending...

But where were all you Conservattives when this type of spending was RAMPANT??

Are you concerned or embarrassed by how hypocritical you all are?

    3. scribblet

      scribblet

Seriously, the hypocrisy is on the part of the Liberals who complained about it, campaigned on not doing it then proceed to do it.

    4. The_Squid

      The_Squid

Scribbler - where were you to complain when Harper was doing it?

  5. When was the last time two armed forces member's were murdered by muslims? Right, last year. The rest is so nonsensical it's hard to come up with an appropriate response.
  6. Just as it is idiotic to start a thread about Islamophobia in Canada when to my knowledge non muslims are not killing muslims here for simply being muslim. Of course some muslims have killed, and have planned to kill other Canadians in the name of their religion, or some variant thereof, but that's not what you want to talk about, that would ruin the distraction. So if some Canadians are Islamophobic and some Canadian muslims want to, you know, kill other Canadians, exactly who is it we should be talking about? Anyway, back to the bigoted Canadians talk.
  7. The op makes only the opening post and then sits back and lets the, 'omg how could someone be a bigot in Canada' liberals start the navel gazing, while of course ignoring the far more significant acts that people of that faith have committed against this country, which is nothing compared to elsewhere. The op is laughing at you, wake up, this is textbook.
  8. How about if the muslim moderates can become more radical for the awful Islamophobia they experience and then that is something we should be trying to prevent perhaps the non muslims who are being slaughtered have at least an equal right to become more radical and then more Islamophobic. Of course the poster I was responding to seemingly chooses only to see things in the, 'the the west is bad' direction, which is why I asked. This really had nothing to do with you, but you chose to stick your nose in it and play the 'im above it all referee', and did so without seeming to understand the point. In the end, people are killing each other, pick a side, or don't, but don't tell people there are no sides to choose.
  9. Your desperation to straddle every fence has left you with virtually no opinion of merit, fyi you aren't the board conscience. and in this case you're reading something that isn't there. Perhaps you should go back and try much harder to understand what I was responding to, or ask someone else explain it to you.
  10. Which moderates? They ones who are the targets of killers or the ones who share the same religion as the killers?
    1. Smallc

      Smallc

I think we should probably hold ourselves to a higher standard.

    2. Scotty

      Scotty

Does that mean we should hold them to a lower standard?

  11. Last year some of the very same people in this thread were claiming that the attacks that killed two men in Canada were perpetrated by sick people and it had nothing to do with ISIS or their religion, now we have a thread dedicated to Canadian navel gazing about how racist we are. Talking about how we aren't much better, and all of the usual false equivalencies, yes it's true, beating on a woman in Canada will not solve any problem, those people will hopefully be found and punished. But here we are with some of the same people who down played those killings in this country, who can do no more than blame the Americans for every terrorist attack against civilians anywhere, who are now inciting the usual Canadian navel gazing about how bad we are, unhuh, keep falling for it Canada. They injured or killed several hundred in a couple weeks, but Canada isn't much better because of a few racists. O and even though your women are by any reasonable measure, equal, don't worry about the people who come here and still treat their women like cattle because even the women who aren't are held to a "higher moral standard than men", well golly gee, (if that's true) we can't stand for that! Not to mention that those women actually want to be treated like that, they want to be forced (well, not forced of course) to be covered head to toe. Of course that is something we should stand for, the freedom of a culture to oppress it's women is real freedom, Canadian freedom. Lets talk more about Canada, don't look over there at the murderers, besides, the american devils made them do it.
  12. No, it has nothing to do with reality, the liberals won 184 seats, 50 of those are women, do the math. All you're offering is empty pc platitudes, of course this isn't even to mention that one of those women has already been outed as unqualified for the job, or at least for the title she was given. So in fact, in reality, women are over represented simply because the government seems to think it needs to buy votes from people who simply have a poor understanding of reality, the actual one.
  13. It would also be wise not to presume that work has been done to our standards, again, this is obvious. No one is saying ignore the UN, but we also don't simply take people on faith, not to meet a silly politically motivated deadline, not in light of recent events.
  14. Btw, that, is still in question, of course if you read conspiracy theory news sites you might be assured that they weren't hiding among refugees. Anyway, this news report doesn't agree with it being false. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-34839187 "It took minutes to take his details" Lets hope we can do better.
  15. First off, get over yourself, secondly, this is Canada, a sovereign country, we make our own rules and can do things for our own reasons, we are not beholden to the UN in any we do not have to take the UN's word on the safety of any refugee, nor should we until we are sure they meet our own standards as over seen and investigated by our own people. This isn't complicated, no really, it isn't.
  16. All ecosystems are sensitive, but it seems BC residents are generally more arrogant than in other parts of the country. O i know, you don't need an oil spill in BC! As if any other place needs one...but hey, you will keep using that oil, and in your arrogance imagine that you shouldn't bear any of the burdens associated with it's production or transport. Leave that up to the other coast, because surely a place like this https://i.ytimg.com/vi/sZI0KLdKhUA/maxresdefault.jpg http://vacay1.vacayca.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/orig_p060002_18rr-e1341275207543.jpg http://www.tourismnewbrunswick.ca/~/media/Images/TNB/Website/Products/F/FundyTrail/Fundy%20Trail%20coastline0001robroytssjpeg.jpeg http://thechronicleherald.ca/sites/default/files/imagecache/ch_article_main_image/B97202015Z.120130709150448000GRA3AI1E.11.jpg Should bear that burden, but not BC, not because it's ecosystems are so special, but apparently because it's residents are very 'special' indeed. Strange arguments? Yea.
  17. Ahh..i dont care if we have 500 screeners if 500 isn't enough to get the job done right before the new year which is of course the painfully obvious point.
  18. http://www.macleans.ca/authors/michael-petrou/how-about-an-evidence-based-syria-policy/ Yes, how about it.
  19. What absolute nonsense, it's impossible that you exist in the same reality as me.
  20. There is literally no chance that any Syrian refugee could be dangerous, or a fake, and besides, it's worth the risk.
  21. He did that while of course ignoring the attacks and thwarted plans we have already had, it seems those like the Toronto 18 didn't much care about how inclusive we are, he is an embarrassing man child, we will regret that he was ever elected.
  22. Well then, i guess if we let all of them move to Canada, or say France, none of them will be terrorists, isnt that what your previous post suggested? The French nationals were mostly responsible? Or that might be just as ridiculous a your argument. In any case, we have absolutely no responsibility to bring in people who might be wanting to do us harm, we already have some of our own, we don't need more, that isn't to say we can't or wont bring people in, but it should mean we won't be in a rush, not when even one of them might be coming here for nefarious reasons. That's all really, any argument contrary to that is ludicrous.
  23. Why did it take so long? Btw, the tone of your post could be better, and if you don't want to be asked the question or made a a point of don't put yourself in a position of defending or equivocating on the subject of this appointment. Of course you aren't alone.
  24. Prevention is better than treating the symptoms. I could take very good care of myself and still have an early heart attack, but the odds would be less so than for the guy binging on donuts everyday, the same can be said for accepting thousands of, lets be honest, barely vetted refugees.
