  1. They might just as well have been trained by Canadians - and maybe some of them were. This is what happens when you stay in a country with the idea that you'll train Afghan (or whoever) soldiers to defend themselves. This isn't the first time this has happened and certainly won't be the last.
  2. OK, then you surely agree with the university's position. If not, then can you please explain your position, what you would do if you were the university and why?
  3. I haven't assumed anything about you except that you consider every case of sexual assault to have equal weight - which you do, and that like cyber, you will believe the woman's story 100% without question - which you also have proven many times in the past. As for the documentary, no I haven't seen it because it's not a real documentary, it's an opinion piece and I know what it'll say. I'm answering your question about the article that I posted. As far as anecdotal statements - well yeah, i have seen what i've seen and logic tells me that what i'm seeing is that both sexes have the ability to lie about certain situations. That being so, I can't in good faith support expelling men based on a nothing more than a complaint - a complaint that we don't even know the slightest detail about.
  4. Well, i have seen Cyber's stats that they throw out every time the issue arises and i would agree that there are some sexual assaults that go unreported. I also believe that there are sexual assaults that are bogus claims - how many of each? We'll never know. You see, we don't even know what sexual assault is anymore. Different articles and different people claiming stats all have a different take on what it actually is, just like sexual harassment and sexual discrimination. We have blurred lines so much that it has become all encompassing for some (like you) and meaningless for others. For example, what do you think this young man did to this girl? Was it a rude comment (nice rack, babe)? Or, was it a boogie grab? Was it a drunken one nighter or date rape? Does it even matter to you? Is this worth ruining some you kids education and life over? Maybe, but without knowing the details - we'll never get to honestly assess that question. I personally know females that have claimed sexual assault - even rape when they were pissed at their man, girls who extorted money from guys using the sexual assault, girls who woke up feeling guilty, girls who simply over-reacted to a bad joke or comment, unwanted advance. How about the woman a few years back who wanted an 8YO boy arrested for sneaking a kiss off a little girl? I knew one girl who got pregnant at 14 or 15 and told her parents she was raped - and even gave the guys name. If the police can't find anything, then what makes you think the university is better equipped at handling such an issue? I know that you'd like to take every case and believe the woman 100% (because women never lie) and not even acknowledge the guys perspective, but really is that fair? The university has done the right thing - have them stay away from each other and put it behind them. I know some assaults don't get reported, Is that because they're all scared, or is that maybe because many girls thought it wasn't really a big deal. If you question someone and ask if they've ever been cat called and they say yes, but they didn't care enough to report the incident- well well, what some will report is an unreported sexual assault - and logic tells us that many of cyber stats would reflect such incidents.
  5. Here is an interesting take from the G&M http://www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/should-universities-police-sexual-assault/article29570029/
  6. Golf has never been better as far as young equal talent. When you consider Spieth, Day, Fowler etc, then guys like DJ, Scott, McIlroy and Reed etc. I always like McIlroy, but its really hard to dislike Spieth - even though he looks like King Joffrey. I'm sick of Mickelson and sick of seeing him choke. I know he's won the Masters 3 times, but I always watch him with the expectation of the impending meltdown. Move along Phil!
  7. If you had a son that may be getting railroaded, what would you do? But, my question was; what should the university do about this situation?
  8. ...and do what? C'mon, if you're gonna complain, then you clearly have a better idea for what a university should do in these situations.
  9. So, what should the university do about this?
  10. Am I the only one who thinks that waitresses dressed as nuns sounds kinda hot?
  11. Whatever morality you think this guy should adhere to is exactly the point of kimmys post. I think she explains the escapism perfectly, albeit a little hyperbolic but clearly done to establish a point that a lot people will miss. Women have their escapism, men have theirs.
  12. If it's about "Canadian culture", I'd rather choose Anne Murray.
  13. You really need to work on your trash talking skills.
  14. That's right! I would consider Terry Fox based on his worldly contributions, but a singer? That's embarrassing...that really shows that we have no realistic ideas. But, if we're gonna do celebs, why not M.J Fox, Shattner or Don Cherry
  15. Easy! It's called an opinion.
  16. Putting a performer or artist of any sort on our currency is just plain stupidity.
  17. Good grief, Is this our choices for women? There has to someone other than a couple old hippies - isn't there? Maybe Kim Campbell. I know she was never elected as prime minister, but she was prime minister and that speaks to many other preceding accomplishments.
  18. The Bier Markt obviously figured out that they were either losing money or not earning their full potential and therefore made the decision to change their servers' outfits. It should be interesting what happens at Earls now that they've caved to the Canadian media machine. Will their waitresses dress down? Will the restaurant see lower returns?
  19. C'mon, these experiments are always so dumb....and clearly driven with an agenda can can only go one way. Lets take a bunch of women and have them stand outside in freezing rain with a chainsaw for 10 hours and see what they say too. How many women would choose crawling around in a sewer drainage all day? Would she maybe rethink quitting her high heel waitress job that pays her 10$ and hour more than that guy? Do you women have any idea what most men do in their everyday jobs?
  20. Hot waitresses bring in more money for their employers and more tips for themselves - that's a fact. We all know the game and to suggest otherwise is pure naivety.
  21. BC Chick - I know you don't see the difference between a restaurant that specifically states "hey we have skimpy outfits!" and ones that don't but require their waitresses to do it anyway, but to me, that's the difference. A woman who goes for a job at Hooters knows what her outfit will be and she is choosing to wear it. Cactus Club doesn't have uniforms, women are expected to wear their own clothes with certain guidelines. It comes down to transparency on the part of the establishment, that's why I make the distinction. With this statement, you're assuming that women who apply at these places have no idea what the waitress dress code will be. The comment is patronizing to say the least.
  22. So now you've reduced your argument to shoes only...and that being a health and safety issue which is not at all the theme of the articles. That said, I think that bare legs are more cause for concern than shoes - but whatever. Along with this, you still keep mentioning Hooters, who as you know allow running shoes - any type they like, so i'm not sure you are really clear on the argument you want to make. Anyway, you seem to imply that women who apply at these establishments are too dumb to know what dress code is required and what their back or foot issues are or how these shoes will make them feel at the end of the work day. And, because these women are too dumb to avoid applying to these places, that we must have the gov't step in and change the laws to protect these women from their own choices.
  23. I don't think he would actually send a bill. I'm sure the debt will be offset by not giving Mexico money until the crisis is dealt with. But you already knew that...right? BTW - It'll be very good for job creation.
  24. Wait a minute....If what you say is true, then super hot women with nice bodies are able to actually make good money because of their looks? Wow, do all women know this or just a select few.
