The Left is Destroying Western Civilization

Why did you attack the poster, and why did MH give you ups for that? -
Exflier is just being the usual id iot. Of course theres no need for a protest, the mandates and restrictions are over. Perhaps even due in part, to said protest. So wtf is his flea-brained point anyway? Those people who came out, truckers and their families, their kin, are peaceful Canadians who took time out of their daily lives to speak out. We want to go to work and school, Mr. Trudeau. And you're the black-faced racist. .... As long as he got shit on his face over it, I'm ok.

Canada: A Civilised State -Really?
OftenWrong replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There is no excusing it, what we've done to ourselves. But it happened in all countries all over the world, and so it now depends on how we can recover, what we need to do to prevent that from happening again. When they enacted emergency powers they empowered themselves. Democracy at that point was put aside. We need new laws to protect us from the bastardized leadership class in this country. For example, we allowed them to declare mass quarantines and shutdowns, without end. I have a problem with that. Government inertia and stupidity being two things you can depend on, in this life. -

The Left is Destroying Western Civilization

I agree with your overall assessment. I would have said "far left". But maybe it's not that far anymore. Once upon a time there was a moderate left, and a moderate right. We knew about extremists, but they were put in a different category, essentially fringe element, considered belonging to neither left nor right. We didn't pay attention to them back then, we had important work to do. I cannot explain how these extremists have become increasingly normalized. It may require a separate thesis. Perhaps it follows the same pattern as Spengler wrote in Twilight of the West. Over time a kind of decay sets in. When good men stop resisting, bad men win. -

What has happened to the Democratic Party?

As I recall she was asked if she thought the deaths of 500,000 children caused by the sanctions were justified, to which she candidly replied "yes". One second on google. https://www.newsweek.com/watch-madeleine-albright-saying-iraqi-kids-deaths-worth-it-resurfaces-1691193?amp=1 What you haven't heard fills libraries. -
In this day and age, it's all about it. What I said alludes to my earlier point in this thread. If them cops had'a been white, he probably would be alive. The obsession with skin colour makes us blind to the real issue. And now here you have a beautiful example how reverse racism works. Black cops are doin the killin now. Even the lack of riots, of protests, of fires at night is racism.

Canada: A Civilised State -Really?
OftenWrong replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think Canada is still a civilized state, but there are always problems such as in dealing with change and progress. In fact just the other day I thanked god that I had the fortune of being raised in Canada, looking at the situation in the rest of the world. Canada is the best goddam country, in the world imo and that isn't just the Jack Daniels talking. .... Having said that, there is always danger and we must do as was so eloquently phrased long ago by our forefathers, to "stand on guard for thee" let that be our role on this, our native land to be the vanguard of the great Candian ideal... -
What's with these UFOs all of a sudden anyway?
OftenWrong replied to I am Groot's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
WTF is going on here. "Octagonal object shot down over Lake Huron" “We’re calling them objects, not balloons, for a reason,” said Air Force General Glen VanHerck, who safeguards U.S. airspace as head of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and Northern Command, told reporters. Surveillance fears appear to have U.S. officials on high alert. Twice in 24 hours, U.S. officials closed airspace – only to reopen it swiftly. On Sunday, the Federal Aviation Administration briefly closed space above Lake Michigan. On Saturday, the U.S. military scrambled fighter jets in Montana to investigate a radar anomaly there. I also heard there another UFO was one sighted over South America. -

There must be some reason they're not allowing us to see the shot-down craft or vehicle. -

Is Digital ID a threat to freedom?

Please. You're just being argumentative. Not connected to a world wide web, not a world with millions of computers, with hackers and politically funded web based attacks. Data security issues are real, and orders of magnitude larger than before. -

Here are the differences I see with this. Any records from the "old world" are hard-copies, printouts kept in a file cabinet. If you want to clean out the data warehouse, you have to break into the office and grab the whole cabinet. Then start sorting through. And this info may not be very useful in terms of criminal exploitation in the "good old days". Now look at what's possible with digital data. Government databases have already been breached, and there is a market for it. Data no longer same/same. -

The first seemingly minor issue is that you have to be "connected" in order to do anything involving government. It's not that way quite yet but we saw some issues like that under Covid. Putting everything online seems so convenient. It's the elderly and the poorest among us who don't have a cell phone, internet, or email address. It's unfair if they have more info about you than you have. I want complete access to my own digital data. Fixed some typos for you! -

It's just another small step towards digital enslavement. Soon AI will convince you it's a good thing. -

OftenWrong replied to I am Groot's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Some of those things you listed here have been "atoned for" formally by Canada. But Canada does have certain problems, natives being the main and most hurtful one. It is still an open wound. Yet we have no Native History Month. Whereas the history of black oppression is relatively minor in Canada per se. This hints at what the problem is... virtue signalling as I mentioned, a feel good exercise for the woke left. I won't say it's the whites, or liberals. There are many who see it for what it is. Because it is in vogue with the US media. The stupid woke seek to import US racism into our country. -

We all know what you mean. If moonbox finds it unimportant he should stfu, and move along, instead of attacking you not the issue. As he and certain other leftist dullards around here often do...
