  1. I hope that Sweden and Finland make arrangements with other countries to allow these expelled refugees to be admitted. This will not stem the flow of refugees. Since January 1, 50,000 refugees and immigrants have landed in Europe by sea. 244 have drowned including many children.
  2. It would be nice if this would start to take place in the refugee camps.
  3. The Conservative government has been accused of screening Syrian refugees based on their religion and ethnicity: http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/syrian-refugees-conservatives-focus-religion-ethnicity-1.3423323 Unfortunately, JT has chosen to screen against single male refugees, which is just as contentious.
  4. What is it that we will be regretting? Allowing 50,000 refugees in 2016? And what did we do that we once again regretted?
  5. We all know about the atrocities being inflicted on the citizens. How do you know Rodman didn't help to encourage discussions for the release of Americans?
  6. If you want to engage in this we can. I can't contribute tonight.
  7. I'm not bailing but I'm running out of power. But it's highly relevant as to the amount being transported.
  8. And you want to compare the amount of oil transported? Go for it.
  9. That of course is another thread
  10. This rhetoric makes me gag.
  11. Of course. That is what I mean. The Fraser river is vital to thousands of communities in BC and to the ocean population. And if we were to add more tankers, it would be devastating.
  12. Good point. We need an embassy there.
  13. Of course. My first and only choice is wild salmon. I am only pointing out the choices.
  14. You are forgetting the fishing industry, the logging industry etc. It's easy for you to shout from the rooftops because you don't live in coastal communities.
  15. Many chefs in Vancouver love the land based salmon for its flavour and consistency and reliability. Who knows. Perhaps we are entering a new phase.
  16. The problem is climate change is seriously disrupting the abundance of salmon and of course fishery policies that another member knows about more than me. I am deeply concerned about the salmon issues in bc.
  17. If a family member was held in prison, wouldn't that family encourage any means possible to further encourage release?
  18. Sometimes friendly encounters via sports, encourages political discussion.
  19. I don't eat farm salmon based in the ocean but what about land based?
  20. That's a pretty shallow thinking of the previous poster but I find that this is a common thread. If they were to really think about the profound effects of the fisheries in Canada they would realize it is not a local issue but a much more global issue. What do you think of the land based salmon farms on the island?
  21. But on the off chance it encourages discussions to release Canadians, would you agree it could be a good thing? The nhlpa would have no say in the matter.
  22. Sorry? Always us? I don't get it.
