  1. Yes, it's clearly not consistent. And it's a pain because I am hoping back n forth between browsers.
  2. Tim: I don't get the nastiness in your posts. Did I mention conspiracy theories?
  3. I get all that. We still need leadership to promote R&D for alternative energy.
  4. The problem is that the major oil companies reduced their R&D initiatives because of the demand for high paying jobs in the oil sector and especially with the governments pandering to these demands for jobs. It is an easy win for the oil companies. Without leadership, there will be no R&D in renewable energy.
  5. Are you arguing against R&D into renewable energy? According to the University of Delaware: "A well-designed combination of wind and solar power with storage in batteries and fuel cells could fully power a large electric grid 99.9 % of the time by 2030 at costs comparable to today’s electricity expenses. “The key is to get the right combination of electricity sources and storage and to calculate costs correctly,” says co-author Willett Kempton. https://www.chinadialogue.net/article/show/single/en/5929-How-western-oil-giant-BP-broke-its-green-promises
  6. Exactly, more money spent on alternative energy sources research, which was a promise that the oil companies at one time promised to invest in and never did.
  7. Harper can no longer hide in the U.S. shadow. "Canada’s hiding in the U.S. shadow on climate policy has proved a good strategy to justify inaction. No longer will this be the case. With a bilateral China-U.S. agreement on controlling long-term GHG, pressure will mount for Canada to not only announce new long-term GHG targets, but to prove it is taking action." http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-debate/canada-cant-hide-any-longer-after-us-china-climate-deal/article21553164/
  8. This initiative from China will help to raise the prospect of expansion into markets for alternative energies. It's about time we did so! http://online.wsj.com/articles/u-s-china-agree-to-curb-greenhouse-gas-emissions-1415763692
  9. Regardless of your thoughts. It is a game changer.
  10. Good lord, can we please get some posters on this board with manners. Why is there this need to ridicule posters on this forum. I just don't get it. I created a topic with the hopes of having polite discussions and instead I get this. What is it with this platform and why do we have such insults towards posters?
  11. I got a paste to work! Under the agreement, Obama set a goal to cut U.S. emissions between 26 and 28 per cent by 2025, compared with 2005 levels. Officials have said the U.S. is already on track to meet Obama's earlier goal to lower emissions 17 per cent by 2020, and that the revised goal meant the U.S. would be cutting pollution roughly twice as fast during a five-year period starting in 2020. China, whose emissions are growing as it builds new coal plants, set a target for its emissions to peak by about 2030 — earlier if possible — with the idea being that its emissions would then start falling. Although that goal still allows China to keep pumping more carbon dioxide for the next 16 years, it marked an unprecedented step for Beijing, which has been reluctant to be boxed in on climate by the global community. I can only hope that Canada will follow suit, regardless of our next leader.
  12. Well, now that the U.S. and China have stepped up to the plate, will Canada (I mean harper) follow suit. Trudeau has said that he hopes this agreement will 'wake up' Harper and get Canada more involved in addressing environmental concerns. Perhaps this is Obama's legacy item? I think this could be a game changer! I apologize. I tried to copy and paste from the cbc article but it's not working!
  13. My quote was working until tonight actually. Doesn't matter which browser I use.
  14. To Big Guy: You are trying to dismiss a woman's allegation from your righteous pedestal. Not every woman follows your protocol of justice. You need to educate yourself with victims of violence.
  15. It doesn't seem to matter which browser I use. I can't get the 'quote' to work, only sporadically.
  16. To OGTF: Talk about twisting words! My 'quote' isn't working.
  17. I can't possibly improve on that response.
  18. Try and follow this logic: Have you ever been sexually assaulted as a teenager, as a young individual, as a mature individual? Have you ever worked in a woman's shelter? Have you ever witnessed victims of these assaults? Have you ever counselled these victims after an attack, perhaps years later. Many, many grown women are just now acknowledging they were sexually abused by their fathers, their uncles, their grandfathers. Should they have stayed quiet? Should they be forced to acknowledge publicly what happened to them?
  19. Are you sure there are only two threads. I swear, I have read many more, but perhaps under the guise of different topics.
  20. That is just so wrong. I have not read any posts here where folks have expressed the thought that veterans should be ashamed of themselves. You should be ashamed of yourself for even suggesting such a thing.
  21. I am not recommending anyone buy MF's, stocks, bonds or any investment instrument. I will leave that up to the individual. My point was that there are MF's with lower management fees than the banks charge and some MF's even have ETF's. A financial planner makes a lot of sense for many reasons. They do not just sell investments. - they help an individual set goals and take steps to achieve them, they help parents to save for their kids education, they help plan and save for retirement, they advise on the right diversity of investments, help to determine insurance needs, help to build an estate to leave to your family, and help to reduce taxes. But hey, if individuals want to solicit advice from an online forum, go for it!
