CPC have three point lead in latest Decima poll.
Canuck E Stan replied to Ricki Bobbi's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Foreign Affairs Journal has put out a rather grim assessment of the situation in Afghanistan. This recent poll was conducted in a lull. The situation was similar last winter. In the spring, the Taliban are expected to be back strong. National Post What possible change will Dion make that will alter the polls in regard to Afghanistan? If Dion says he'll pull the troops out, he loses face in a war the Liberals put the troops into. If he stays in Afghanistan, what difference will that make to the situation and the polls? Maybe he can join Jack in a talk to the Taliban. With Khan gone, Dion lost someone who could have given him some credibility to a stance he could take in the Afghanistan war. Dion may make an issue of Afghanistan, but like the environment, the Liberals will look like they are doing the change of heart on issues just to win votes. Canadians, I believe will see through this Liberal political game playing -
Liberal Khan to cross floor to Tory backbench
Canuck E Stan replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
National Post As in the last election with the Liberals "On our streets, in Canada" the next election, will remind Canadians that Dion had warned Khan, saying Khan doesn't deserve to be a Liberal because Khan felt Canada's interest was more important than the Liberal party. This Khan episode will come to haunt Dion. Khan may lose his seat in Mississauga, but this will resonate with Canadians elsewhere. John Baird the new environment minister has taken the same approach as Khan. Baird has said he will consult with anyone including the opposition for the good of the Canadian environment. Somehow I feel this is the approach that Canadians want and will applaude this "Canada first" attitude. We're all tired of the "party" coming first. -
CBC to air comedy "Little Mosque On The Prairie"

bk59, I'm afraid that your imagination has taken the best of you. Extreme viewpoint?,flying planes into buildings?post comes across as saying that Muslims who do not believe in the extreme position somehow do not understand what they believe? I've said none of those things, even though may have thought or wished I did. What I did say was that the creator did NOT create the series for Muslims, and I believe she should have, so Muslims can see what they are to themselves. How much more do we have to "learn" about Islam and what it "really" is? I know there are Muslims who follow Islam and they are good people, but why are these Muslims in denial about those who practice Islam wrongly? Why are Muslims always educating the western world about Islam, and not condemning and educating those who practice Islam with hate and violence? Very few Muslim voices speak out against this violence and hate. Fifteen young Muslims Canadians get sucked into terrorism, and the Muslim community says it is Canadians who don't understand these young men. Making a comedy about Muslims in a non-Muslims community under the pretence that non-Muslims in Canada need to understand Islam, and NOT creating the series for Muslims to understand how non-Muslims Canadians live their lives as decent law abiding people, with their own religion, their own customs, their own peaceful lives. Mocking a non-Muslim group's life style with stereo-types doesn't seem to be the right way to get any non-Muslims to understand someone else's religion. I don't need to know anymore about Islam,or any other religion for that matter. What does need to be done, is for Muslims to teach other Muslims about Islam and acceptance of other people's customs, cultures and religions. Being a poor black man is not funny, just ask a black man. Being a drunken Indian is not funny, just ask an Indian. Being a obese person is not funny, ask a fat person. Being a Islamic Muslim is not funny, just ask a Muslim. Why should being a non-Muslim in a small western town be funny? -
CBC to air comedy "Little Mosque On The Prairie"

Unfortunately you may be right in regards to what the CBC wants this series to do,but it is not the intent of Zarqua Narwaz the creator of the series. She says, When asked what she hopes to accomplish with the show she says, LIttle Mosque on the Prairie See Press Kit For me personally, I think Zarqua should have made it a show about Muslims FOR Muslims to watch and to shed a little light about Islam for themselves. They seem to be the ones who have a misunderstanding of their own religion. The whole world has seen what Islam is all about, and so far no one cares much of what they see, yet alone find anything funny about it.. If there has been a misunderstanding about this religion it is primarly be the participants of Islam.Putting the Little Mosque on the Prairie for the purpose of understanding Islam isn't funny. Putting the Little Mosque in Iraq or Iran or any of the other the violent Muslim countries won't be funny either, but that's where it does belong.Especially if Zarqua Narwaz's intent in correcting a misunderstanding of Islam and it's followers.Let them find something funny in what they preach in the places where they preach it the most. -
Harper to Shuffle Cabinet
Canuck E Stan replied to Curtis Smith's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
To say the event was well-publicised at the time is an understatement. Margaret returned to Ottawa from New York, had a conversation with Trudeau and then was seen in public with a black eye or a bruised face. Of course she never admitted anything. This was the 1970s when wife-beating was still a taboo topic. In fact, some viewed Trudeau as a "real man" because he could show his wife who was boss. Joe Clark, on the other hand, was clearly not a tough guy since he let his wife keep her maiden name. I remember that also, but what I remember most was a pic of Margaret after a Jagger encounter in New York, with reporters saying that Margaret had done drugs and gone "commando", al-a-Britney Spears. At that point most in Canada were totally em-bare-assed. -

Somehow the G&M public health reporter,Andre Picard, picked only the information he wanted out of the Canadian Institute for Health Information report. Saskatchewan was mentioned at the beginging of the report as being the top of the heap for pay, but wasn't on the data lists. Also NOT mentioned was the doctors in Lotusland(BC). I'm sure their pay is far more signicant to the data than the other provinces not mentioned, and possibly those mentioned. Another great reporting job by the media. Don't you just love reporters and editors who give you the whole story?

From the crowning jewel of Canada comes a "it's all about me" answer. It's so much easier to just sit back, read about the atrocities happening to people "In some buttfu** country across the earth that is no direct threat to me" , and say "isn't this just awful, sure glad it's not happening here." Not my problem, let someone else take care of it. Of course you probably don't think Canada should have gone to war during WW2 either. Let the UN do the work.....but of course the UN wouldn't have any Canadian soldiers. Would they?

And in the end , everyone will say the judgement was right, and that to his 72 virgins (who will greet him in the afterlife) will also say that Sadam hung well.

You went back four times for antibiotics for strep throat, and blame the doctor for abuse? Wow,talk about abusing the system! The mouth is pretty big here on the forum, but can't seem to tell the doctor a thing or two after the first trip. All talk, no action I guess.

Saturn, As usual, in most of your liberal leftie posts, you make statements right out this world, and don't provide any kind of back-up to the spaced out bull you throw. But hey,the Lefties know what's best for the country, don't they?Just have to take their word for it, why?, well, because they say so. Never providing an answer, then calling it our problem because we should be looking for why you say so. Thanks for nothing Saturn, you're only telling everyone you and your posts are full of it. Spend some time and convince us, as your mentor would say, with some proof of the proof of the proof. -
Easy to be critical of someone's wants out of government.....which are valid, I'm sure most of us want a lot of the same things. How about you telling us what YOU want so we can kick your can. .....and try backing up some of these stupid responses you've made on this thread.

Who won't be running next election?
Canuck E Stan replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Of course they do........as long as Oilers stay in Edmonton and Flames stay in Calgary. -

With all this spitting, don't you worry we might put the fire out in hell? Besides spitting is punishable in most municipalities by a fine, and we wouldn't want to offend that organization would we? -

Devotee, Strategist, or Last Minute Chooser
Canuck E Stan replied to ClearWest's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yer memory fails ye, me lad. The surpluses were far,far greater with the Liberals who piddled it down the political toilet, year after year. Martin looked at the surpluses like he was a CEO making profit, on the backs of the working smucks. Cutting back, just to make greater surpluses,or have you forgotten what happened to Health-care during those years. And the Liberals patted themselves on the back for doing a great job of which they had nothing to do with. Thanks to NAFTA,the GST and a economy that came out of a recession. You have a pretty short memory, or none at all. But you vote strategically, Let's see.......you wait for the last poll before you vote Liberal anyway. That's some strategy. -
Devotee, Strategist, or Last Minute Chooser
Canuck E Stan replied to ClearWest's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Some strategist. Won't vote for Harper(because you don't like him),and because with a minority government and with less than one year running the country he hasn't given you what you want. But you will vote for Dion who was part of a group who gave you nothing after 13 years. And you won't vote for a Liberal majority. So what you do want, is a do nothing government so you can bitch about nothing getting done. Some strategy. Your vote will depend on the last polls prior to the election? You've already made your decision on the next election, well before the last election. -
Stephen Harper in his own words
Canuck E Stan replied to Saturn's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What's frightening is the Liberal leader who wants power to run Canada, couldn't decide to back Canada in a referendum, and presently is loyal to two countries, and.... was a former Separatist. We can't forgive him for that, can we? Stephane_Dion#Early_life .......and drinking excessive alcohol can change his mind. Woo, that's some kind of leader. And let's not forget Jack Layton, when he accussed Martin of killing homeless people. Layton criticized for homeless comments Scarey stuff, coming from the mouths of politicians,on our streets, in our cities, in our Canada. At least I can be sure you never changed your opinion on anything......or have you? -
CRTC - Soon to be obsolete
Canuck E Stan replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Don't quite understand what you're saying here, but I do know that the only thing that sells on CBC to Canadians is the sports stuff(Hockey) and that is going to end when the NHL begins broadcasting all their games on TSN. Along with hockey,TSN is going to take away CFL football from the CBC as well. With a $billion a year pumped into the CBC,it's not cheap, but it is horrible. What I hate the most is the mockumentaries that are constantly being shown over and over like they are factual pieces of history(Trudeau,Douglas,Leveque,War Measures Act) but are "dramatized" to "appeal" to audiences. -

Bah,Humbug Best to everyone on MLW for the holiday season. I wish upon you, prosperity, health, good weather, and the government you deserve in the new year. -
Dobbin, Like a true Liberal that you are, you think too much about what you think others think. That's why the self centered party, the Liberals are sitting in opposition. Canadians aren't stupid, and don't need Liberals to think for them. All this crap about what people think about the CPC that you've presented are YOUR thoughts, not the general public, so stop trying to imply you know how Canadians think and why. If you could think for Canadians you'd be sitting in Ottawa, doing just that. Opps, you tried that, THEY rejected you. Your thoughts are yours and yours alone, stop this crap of pretending you know how others think.
