Important Issues to Canadians
Canuck E Stan replied to jacobhelliwell's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
In filling the posts, do you want someone who can do the job properly, or do you want a Liberal lawyer? -
Global Warming Report-Jan.5,2007. Earth's carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere ran from 250 parts per million to 2,000 parts per million. And in the past 400,000 years, carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere ran from 180 to 280 parts per million. Human Perturbment has risen the level to to 370 parts per million. Given that we're talking about 400,000 years at a level of 180-280, why would the projected year 2050 for correcting global warming in a country that only produces 2% of green house gases not be acceptable? Nothing is going to change anyways.

People should make a point of listening, for the Muslim laugh track in the background while the show is playing. You may need to turn up your sets to hear it. -

Khan also said he would offer his advice to Dion on the same matters. Dion never replied to Khan. Why?, maybe it was his solar cell phone not being charged? Maybe he didn't want advice from someone who knew more about Afghanistan than he did and really didn't want to hear it. Whatever the reason, the Liberals lost a seaat and someone who could have contributed greatly to the party and help in a renewal of a party, that hasn't really changed from the same old, same old. -

I guess anyone like Khan, who wants to serves Canada first, before their party is a self righteoue hack. That group will include a lot of Canadians. I would be proud Canadian to be a member of that group. -

And Graham said this week that he heard of it after Harper announced it. But he didn't contest it , or make issue of it, or tell Khan he was out of the party....his silence on the matter tells me says he approved of it. Probably he understood the whole thing better that Dioin does. -

Dobbin, Canada and what's best for Canada and Canadians will always be an issue with me. Being a Liberal or a Conservative is secondary. I've voted for both in the past and presently I lean very heavily towards the Conservatives. The party that puts Canada and Canadians first and foremost will always get my vote. The Liberals have shown me in the last dozen years that they think they are more important than Canada and Canada's interests. Sorry Dobbin that you feel Canada is an "issue", but I bet a lot of Canadians like me and Khan, feel Canada is far more important. More imporant than a bunch of self righteous hacks who only want what's best for themselves and their party's political agenda and that is, getting in power and being in control. -

Afghan mission "doomed to fail"
Canuck E Stan replied to Saturn's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So back then(two years ago),Martin and the Liberals look his advice and pulled out......not.....and why not? Was it.....because they felt it was the right thing to do and stay and help the Afghans, or was it because politically they didn't care less about why they were there and felt it wasn't politically advantageous with a minority government to pull out. Gosh, Harper has a minority government and he's staying because he thinks it's the right thing to do for the Afghans. -

Read Turner's blogs. Unlike Turner,Khan didn't do anything negative to the Liberal party except make them look good by advising the government. Dion's stupidity couldn't see that. -

You said it. The Oath or Solemn Affirmation of Allegiance Khan did exactly that, Canada first, as he said he would when he swore his allegiance as an MP. Agent of the government? Advisor,Dobbin, advisor. This isn't KGB agents and the USSR we're talking about. We're all Canadians here, all on the same side, unless of course you think because the natural governing party somehow is more Canadian than anyone else. Why didn't the interm leader Graham tell Khan way back when, after he approached Harper, that he was out of line. Gee, maybe some Liberals understand that serving CANADA comes first. -
Afghan mission "doomed to fail"
Canuck E Stan replied to Saturn's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If only Chretien and the Liberals had an advisor to tell them about Pakistan, maybe they wouldn't have gone there. Martin and the Liberals had an advisor, didn't use him, stayed in Afghanistan for what they thought was the right thing to do. But that was a long time ago (two years) and now the Liberals are in opposition and anything the new government does can't be good...because...well, because the natural governing party isn't in power anymore. -

Unethical? Who said you can't be in Opposition and give advice to the government, just because it normally isn't done? Governments get advice from Canadians from all walks of life, why not from a Canadian in the Opposition? Unless of course you don't feel Canada comes before the party. Khan is the Canadian in opposition, who offered the same service to Dion, who never replied to Khan. You know who Dion is,he's the leader of the Liberal party, the guy from Quebec, who had a hard time deciding whether to be a Separatist or a Canadian during the first referendum. -

Liberal Khan to cross floor to Tory backbench
Canuck E Stan replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Khan was in that role because he was qualified and wanted to help CANADA.Just because it usually isn't done, why not? What's wrong in having a role as an advisor from the opposition benches. Don't you think people will see the opposition in a better light, with more credibility? After all it was the Liberals who put us in Afghanistan. If the situation was a national crisis, would you say the same thing? "Gee Steven, sorry, can't help you here, although I know a lot about the situation,I'm part of the opposition, not my job to help the government help Canada. Anything I can do, to maybe minimize deaths, well, that's your job,I'm in opposition, my party is before Canada and Canadians." -

100% with you. Dion's move will give more ammunition to those that question his patriotism. He should have left it alone. -
Liberal Khan to cross floor to Tory backbench

Like I said for MOST Liberals, it the Liberal party first, then Canada. Why would ONE MP who can make a positive difference for Canada, and I feel, score big optic points for the Liberal party be someone Dion can't trust? Something is wrong with Dion's us vs. them game plan, when ONE patriotic MP has to bow the party leader's wishes, all because Dion doesn't think being a patroitic Canadian is good for the party. -

Liberal Khan to cross floor to Tory backbench

Typical Conservative to spin the truth their way. Show me where Khan was forced out. Cite it please. Dion asked him to state where his loyalties lay. He didn't. He crossed the floor instead. Dobbin,Dobbin, Dobbin. Khan is a hard-core Canadian. Dion wanted him to leave the special advisor position. Khan felt he was doing something good for CANADA by being in this position. Obvoiusly Dion didn't think this was an important position to be in FOR THE GOOD OF THE LIBERAL PARTY, and asked him to leave that position. Dion felt it was a government/opposition thing, and being in opposition means your job is to fight government, regardless if you can do some good for Canadians and Canada. Khan being a patriotic hard-core CANADIAN decided it WAS important and didn't want to give it up,so he left Dion and his natural governing party so he could continue to do something he felt was important for CANADA. Khan's loyalties lie with CANADA -the country first, that's why he asked Harper if he could help as an advisor because of his knowledge of that part of the world. Unlike Dion who isn't a hard-core Canadian, (he couldn't decide in the first referendum whether to be a Canadian or separatist), Khan is a Canadian first, and will give his allegiance to the country first. Why was Dion so against Khan being in this position, when it could do some good for Canada, I would say he feels it's more imortant to be Liberal..first. Khan -

Liberal Khan to cross floor to Tory backbench
Canuck E Stan replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Like a true Liberal, Dobbin,in denial that the Liberals didn't do this. Dion did this to himself by telling Khan to leave the special advisor position. Khan's priority was for national interest, first. Dion in his stupidity forced Khan's hand. It would have looked better for the Liberal party to leave Khan in this role.....it looks more..er.. Canadian. But of course everyone knows the natural governing party takes priority over all else if you're a member. Unlike Turner who was bad mouthing the Conservative party in public, Khan did no such thing with the Liberals.
