  1. The CPC has started a program, but no one wants it. Why?, because the date 2050,oh, it seems sooooo far away. Well, look at the date everybody else uses. Gosh darn, it's 2050 too. The leaders of the opposition, the committee that looked into Climate change, everybody says 2050. But I'll be dead by then,I want to be there when the change for the good happens. I want to be part of the happy ending and say I told you so. Better not start at all, better just forget it and don't do a damn thing....until my favourite party gets in, then we'll get going. Yea,lets wait much longer before we start, then my favourite party will get it going just like the last group of my favourite party. They were so concerned they moved things along for 13 years, and did nothing. We'll wait a few more years because their plan is better, and we'll get it done in.....2050. Face the fact,it won't happen in your life time, but be an arse-hole and not start anything today......because 2050 is not soon enough.
  2. Is this the new progressive Liberal way that all the leadership candidates talked about? Seems like same old, same old Liberal way of doing business to me. Delay and pay is the Liberal way.
  3. Yes,yes, yes, blame it on the municiapl and provincial failures.....and the Federal CPC's.When a solution is presented to START the process of clean air and clean water, what do I hear? Kyoto, Kyoto, Kyoto, this is the solution, bull, the answer is to fix what's broken at home...first. Ottawa ready with sewage plant funds Dobbin,if the friggin' Liberals had even mentioned to do this a dozen years ago Victoria might not be crapping into the Pacific.
  4. ONe of the dumbest things I've read lately was the city of Victoria putting "pop-up urinals" downtown. Victoria and the pop-up urinals Why piss in the street, when you can piss in a urinal and send it into the ocean? I'm sure everyone in Victoria will feel better about it, don't forget, Canadians accepting Kyoto will save the 6% of the world, never mind all the crap we cause to our environment right here at home.
  5. What a bunch of hypocrite Canadians, Want to save the world from global warming, all the while, they send their raw sewage straight into the oceans. Victoria after all these years STILL sends thier crap into the Pacific. Victoria told to quit dumping sewage in ocean So forget the ocean,it doesn't affect the people of Victoria,so there is no health risk. Great move, tree huggers of BC. Lets have more green space and eat granola, and demand Kyoto be implemented, yea that will help the environment. Islands Trust Council just passed the following resolution. Meanwhile in near Montreal..... Longueuil dumps raw sewage in the St-Lawrence But hey, it doesn't affect THEIR health, so it's okay. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...s_name=&no_ads= Let's not forget Halifax.... http://www.seasidelive.ca/oceansliveEnglis...ated_sewage.htm Atlantic Insight Meanwhile in the centre of the universe....Toronto,(if you didn't figue it out yet) Toronto's sewage sludge may go into lake So the CPC plan for clean air and clean water is insufficient for the fans of Kyoto, well dear friends, take a good looka round you, 'cause your environment, your city, your province needs to do a lot of work before you shell out billions of $$$$ to some foreign country for "credits" to curb some 6% of global warming.Let's clean up OUR mess at home before we tackle the world. Sewage in oceans causing disease, deaths: UN report Canadians have to stop pretending Kyoto is the answer. We have work to do right here, right at home...first.
  6. Just wait, when we start sending $$$$$ to other countries for credits and see how popular Kyoto will become with everyone in Canada. The business leaders said: It's a bad tready for a good cause. Keep the solution in Canada.
  7. Sounds like a movie trailer intro. Coming to a theatre near you.
  8. From the Red Star: Duceppe threatens to topple Harper government over Afghanistan Then again they might not Duceppe is tired of Dion getting all the media attention these days, so he has to make a show.....look for Layton to make a show next. It just might be next week.
  9. Nor in British Columbia where approval for the Afghanistan mission has now dropped to only 37%. http://www.mustelgroup.com/pdf/20061122_fvi_release.pdf I'm sure the Liberals will give all their support to Duceppe.
  10. The COMPAS survey of small, medium, and large corporations was conducted between Dec. 6 and 8. Dion's Kyoto revival draws skepticism Looks like the welcome party for Dion is ending.
  11. I have to agree with your statement totally. Sweden has been the shrine for National daycare for many years. Here is a letter in the Post today from a Swede about National Daycare. Be careful for what you wish for. Don't mimic Sweden National Post Published: Monday, December 11, 2006 Re: The Facts On Child Care: counterpoint by Martha Friendly, Dec. 8. Ms. Friendly criticizes Andrea Mrozek because she does not support a national daycare plan proposed by Canada's Liberal party. Ms. Mrozek believes such a plan goes against the will of the Canadian people and fails to recognize the risks to children associated with centre-based childcare. She also suggests that the primary beneficiaries of tax-funded, centre-based childcare would be affluent, dual-income families -- not the low-income, disadvantaged families the scheme is purported to benefit. Ms. Friendly seems to suggest that Canadian parents would prefer to leave their children in day nurseries if they had the opportunity, rather than take care of them by themselves. Honestly, how likely is it that parents bring children into this world only to hand them over to their nearest day nurseries? The debate on this point reminds me of a Swedish saying, for which I am sure you have an equivalent: "The echo will always reflect your shout," meaning, if you want a particular response (in an opinion poll), just slant your question in that direction and you will get it. For us Swedes who, 35 years ago, bought into the rotten product that is tax-funded, out-of-home childcare, the debate in Canada is painful to follow. The national daycare plan Ms. Friendly advocates has already been tried in Sweden, where it has made parents and children unhappier and the entire country poorer. Canada should not repeat the mistake Sweden made so many years ago. Bo C. Pettersson, Vasteras, Sweden.
  12. Civil war.....don't be stupid,Dobbin. Just facing reality,no war required(that was already tried) Here's the divorce papers, now let's settle for the assets. Quebec goes their way and the rest of us go ours.
  13. I've found the number of usless threads that end up nowhere, but turn into an arguement about why or why not it's a useless thread.Pretty useless. What happened to the zero tolerance being in effect for this kind of stuff?
  14. We now have one nation. The Civil War was, in a sense, the crucible that made us a nation. You have at least two, and, with multiculturalism enshrined in the Charter, possibly hundreds. And with a Federal minority government projected to run this country into eternity, nothing will ever get done except a Federal election occurring every year to juggle the top team. Quebec must leave for thier own good and for the good of the rest of Canada.
  15. That's a provincial law not a federal law. I don't live in Quebec. My comments were on the official bilingualism policy of Canada. Fedral law says we're a bilingual country, last I heard Quebec was still in Canada. Where are the Anglo rights in Quebec,Canada?
  16. Come on Dobbin, you know full well the language police will nab you if your sign isn't in French in Quebec or your kids don't go to a French schools if you're an immigrant in Quebec.
  17. Where have you been buried? You have to be pretty niave if you think any other the other leaders will be different. This IS Canadian politics, this IS the way our country is run.Do you think Jack and Stephane are different? Politics in Canada has been run from the PMO's office since the begining of Canada.Someday we may have a democracy, until then, politicians with less than 40% of the popular vote will rule......their way.
  18. And then I presume you agree that this thread is also ridiculous and should be shut down: http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=7456 ??? Gerry, If you felt that the thread was ridiculous you should have at least responded about the tread,on the thread. You didn't even make a comment on it.....I know, you'll say it wasn't worth commenting on, but creating a new thread to respond to that thread was okay.Did you even read the thread? Once again the subject becomes Gerryhatrick. You're just plain trolling. Where is the moderator enforcing the no tolerance rule.
  19. Daycare thread.......again?
  20. In the next election you're going to see Dion attacked more by the Bloc, the NDP. Each has more reason to fear Dion because of possible seat lose than the CPC. Throw in the Greens and the CPC who will also do their share of beating on him and you'll see that Dion has a lot of work in store to even get a minority.
  21. Unfortunately it looks like the no tolerance rule has been forgotten. http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=7087 http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index....=zero+tolerance
  22. The issue of whipping members is one between the party and it's members. If the New DEMOCRATIC Party or the Bloc thinks this is a proper way to represent the constituents then I would suggest that the opposition to those parties make it an issue in the next election.Vote for a member who will vote as the constituents wish, or don't bitch about the outcome.
  23. I'm a Canadian,he's a Canadian, his rights are the same as any Canadian. I suggest your thinking that some Canadians are more Canadian than others is like blaming the rape victim for the crime and she should be banished because of the crime. If it costs the present government $37 million to correct a mistake the Liberal government made,so be it. Maybe next time the Government will be more on top of things.
  24. Normie, You've done more flapping of your jaw about this topic than Harper has. I don't see Harper making an issue about this, he said what he thought and that was it. If Dion takes two citizenships to the ballot box, I really think a lot of Canadians will wonder why he did. If he's wise he'll ditch the French citizenship to keep those that will be thinking about the issue, and make it a non-issue. Can Dion really afford to lose any votes?
  25. What would you do if you were tortured outside of Canada and the government didn't come to you're aid?
