  1. I'll give you one quick example. Just tell me if you want more. They were able to change election laws using a pandemic excuse allowing them to put in a dementia ridden puppet and a cackling, unpopular sidekick as leaders of the free world. Also, even those who may not want more power sure seem reluctant to give up the power the pandemic gave them - Newsom, Whitmer, Cuomo.

  2. I've been wondering about this. (It apparently bugs Putin too. But I've never considered Russia and Soviet as synonyms.) After Brest-Litovsk, what was Russia? After 1945, what was the Soviet Union? -East Prussia, "Poland", etc. ===== Truman was resolute - he started the Korean War. Eisenhower accepted a peace treaty, DMZ, separation of Korea. Stalin died. Khruschev took power. Kennedy was resolute - he started the Vietnam War. Brezhnev took power. Nixon made deals. Reagan refused any contact with the Soviets. Gorbachev took power. The Soviet Union imploded in August 1991.

  3. I don't know... I could believe you two seeming followers of the Covid inquisition or I could believe Ron De Santis, Governor of Florida. " Ron DeSantis @GovRonDeSantis · Sep 23, 2020 CDC recently updated estimated infection fatality rates for COVID. Here are the updated survival rates by age group: 0-19: 99.997% 20-49: 99.98% 50-69: 99.5% 70+: 94.6%

  4. The mortality rate is far less than 2%, and that number includes people over 75 with 1 or more co-morbidities. Authoritarians and socialists alike want a nanny state. Everyone at their mercy. That's what covid, along with the help of the CBC and CTV, delivered to Trudeau - a state where a large minority of the people exist on gov't handouts, and where the state's ability to deal with dissidents is massively increased, both by censoring them and [in the near future] locking them up in high-mortality-rate quarantines. You've known for a long time that Trudeau does not like to tolerate dissenting opinions, and every day he gains a bit more control over what we're allowed to say, or do, even at our own cellular levels. He is gaining control like no other PM has ever had before.

  5. You've said some batshit crazy things before but blaming the metric system for gas prices maybe my new favorite. I'll put aside the fact that metric is objectively and demonstrably a far better system. That's like getting mad that im shorter in metric because i only measure 1.89 as apossed to imperial where im 6'3. I find it hard to believe that what you spout are sincere opinions and you're not just playing a character. Though I will thank you for reminding me why i stopped coming here

  6. I have no doubt in my mind that those unvaccinated portion of population are causing the pandemic to drag on, continued sickness and death of innocent bystanders who have no choice but to go to work, to malls and grocery and continued downward economy and loss of jobs. Therefore I am doing my part to force them make the right decision and get vaccinated. I will ask and will boycott the services of any individual or any business like my barber, bank, auto mechanic, clinic, restaurant, bar...etc. whose any of its employees have refused vaccination. I suggest we wise people (80% of population) all do this. If you are a business owner, refuse to hire or continue the employment of those unvaccinated as they pose a threat to you, your business and your customers.

  7. That is the one type of political observation that is deeply subjective. I see pluses and minuses in Harper but I wouldn't care to project my personal impressions of him on the electorate. For one thing, the electorate is less homogenous and therefore less knowable than it ever was. For another, he won three elections.

  8. There is no need to make a mess of something that works and is not used for actual measurement purposes. (you will not measure a period of time with a measuring tape) Time can be left in hours, minutes, seconds. Then we have the milliseconds to emphasize what I was telling your earlier - metric makes sense to go up and down a scale dealing with really small or really large numbers. The imperial system unfortunately for you is useless in this situations and is , for the most part confusing, even in the small range of values it is supposed to cover. You want my uneducated take on it? You have the British being stubborn and insisting on keeping things that obviously do not work. Since we are a commonwealth country, we inherited the imperial system from those stubborn Brits, some of which are now proud third or fourth generation Canadians. They will not admit you cannot wash you hands in that sink with the hot water and cold water taps installed some 2 feet apart. They just like freezing or scalding their hands for generations but never admitting they are f-d in their heads.

  9. Macleans puts it right, when saying it's time to stop arguing with toddlers, to stop waving carrots and bring out the stick. There is an inevitable moment, familiar to all parents and babysitters, when you realize that reasoning with a toddler will only get you so far. Soothing tones and patience may work for a while, but eventually the child once again picks up their bowl, looks you straight in the eye, and slowly pours their cereal onto the floor. Canada has arrived at this moment, and the toddlers in question are the approximately 20 per cent of Canadians who have yet to get even one dose of a vaccine. Who are these people? The University of Sydney conducted a study of the unvaccinated in Australia, Canada, the U.K. and the U.S. It found that, in comparison to the population at large, these people tended to have “less agreeable personalities”, be less cooperative with others, more selfish, and more extroverted. (In the vernacular, the term is “assholes”.) https://www.macleans.ca/opinion/vaccinations-no-more-carrot-bring-out-the-stick/

  10. Incidentally, yesterday when I did a search and found this article above, a cyber hacker immediately came into my computer, violating my privacy, and started searching through every word on the screen. This leads to the question. Is Canada already under the influence and intimidation of Communist states and other adversaries through major internet news providers and social media where they can hack into individual's computers to intimidate or spy on them? Unfortunately, because of the nature of the internet, any hacker can operate from any country in the world and engage in cyber espionage and influence. I am sure hacking doesn't take a genius. All they need is the software and given some basic instruction how to do it.

  11. The only reason Biden was elected was because of better confidence in handling the pandemic. And they’ve completely botched it.

  14. I figure my groceries are up 30% in the past year but I’m on a fixed income. I keep swallowing it everywhere and I have little left to give. Forget a social life. That was gone long ago. Now the new condo fees are coming. That includes gas, power and water. Gulp. I’m terrified. This is not what I had in mind working nights and weekends to meet ad deadlines much of my life. I haven’t had a vacation in eight years. It’s all been a big lie. I would suggest the “prosperity” is more like EZ credit. Kids being driven 4 blocks to school in financed $75,000 SUV’s and living in homes with 3.5 bathrooms is not prosperity but living beyond one’s means and needs in a fake illusion.
